MARCO, Joseph Donald III, 75, of Tucson, died Saturday, December 31, 1994. Survived by his wife, Mae; children, Joseph Marco, Pamela Marco Danjou; grandchildren, Joseph, Anthony, Andrew, Michael, Kevin, Tammy, Shawn; great grandson, Shawn Paul, all of Tucson; sister, Laura Dawn Edwards of Marseilles, IL. Mr. Marco was a longtime musician and pianist in Tucson. He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians Local #771, the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union Local #741, and Epes Randolph Lodge #32, F. & A.M., all in Tucson. Private family services and burial were held at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY AND CEMETERY.
OCHS, John Hanten, July 28, 1962 – December 29, 1994. Survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary D. Ochs; brothers, Mark and Matthew J. Ochs; sister, Angela M. “Gigi’ Nitka; and longtime companion, B.B., all of Tucson; also survived by his grandmother, Mrs. Helen M. Domler; aunts and uncles, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Berg of Minneapolis, Dr. and Mrs. Louis J. Demer of Tucson, Mrs. Bonnie Domler Mackey of Windsor, WI, Mrs. Coralie Domler Holth and Mrs. Marlene P. Domler of Tucson; nieces, Nicole Ochs and Emily R. Nitka; nephew, Charles J. Nitka; numerous cousins and friends. John was a federal probation officer until October of this year. He held a master’s degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Arizona and spoke four languages fluently. No one whose life Johnny touched will ever forget his enthusiasm and zest for life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to PACT for Life of Tucson. Memorial Mass to be held at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church on Saturday, January 7 at 11:00 a.m.
RUTIN, Jane Yvonne Hersey, 65, passed away January 1, 1995. Survived by husband, Saul; sons, Aron, Burton and Eric; granddaughter, Elizabeth; sisters, Mary Hastings, Georgette Bixby, Dorothy Earnshaw and Jackie Dunlop. VERDUGO, Carmela C., 70, passed away January 2, 1995. Beloved wife of Manuel B. Verdugo; beloved mother of Rene M. (Sarah) Verdugo of Tucson, Welhelmina C. (Douglas) Ebeck of CA and Gina M. (John) Verdugo Mulkey of Tucson; beloved sister of Irene (Henry) Faccio, Genevieve (John) Sadlosks, Olga (Richard) Martinez, Juan (Minda) Yslas, all of Tucson and Dora (Alex) Vergara of CA; beloved grandmother of Jacquelyn, Deanne, Derrick and Glenna; beloved great-grandmother of Maquella. WING, Donald E., 69, of Yuma, AZ, passed away in Tucson December 31, 1994 of pancreatic cancer. He was a retired Lt. Col. in the U.S.A.F. He is survived by his wife, Louise Tudor Wing of Yuma; daughter, Margie Blanchet of Texas; son, Russell Wing of Nebraska; stepchildren, Ron Dague and Laura Smith of Yuma, AZ; he also leaves eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. Services to be held at a later date.
WEBER, Marguerite D., 67 years old, died Thursday, December 29, 1994 in Tucson. Survived by husband, James Weber of Tucson; daughter, Barbara A. (Jeffery) Patten of Tucson; brother, Richard D. Edminson of Tucson; grandson, Jonathan Weber Patten; nieces and nephews. Mr. and Mrs. Weber were married at St. Bernadine Catholic Church on January 10, 1948 in Forrest Park, IL. PECHERO, Emanuel “Manny’, passed away December 26, 1994. Beloved brother and survived by his sisters, Gertrude Herman of Goldsborough, NC, Rae Silberman and Lillian Koltnow of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. He was very close to Ruth Jean and Sonny Solot, who treated him as an adopted uncle. ZWEIFEL, Dorothy, 79, passed away December 22, 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred. She is survived by three children, Beverly Antwerp of Fulton, TX, Barbara Lasley of Ramah, NM and Rick Zweifel of Milwaukee, WI; other surviving relatives are sisters, Betty Wallace of Milwaukee, WI, Rosalen Reineck of Tucson, AZ; brother, Carl Busacker of Tucson. AMUNDSON, Eunice Olavine (Biggs), died on December 10th, 1994. She was born on March 27, 1903 in Sanborn, ND. She was the daughter of James Biggs and Rebecca (Moe) Biggs. She survived four sisters and one brother. She was the wife, for almost 65 years of the former Reverend O’Dell G. Amundson. She is survived by a daughter, Carole P. Torguson and husband, Ben of Ft. Collins, CO; and Colonel (USAF Ret) Lowell O. Amundson and his wife Ramona of Tucson, AZ. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Sharon K. (Amundson) Orff, Susan D. (Amundson) Chan, Michael A. Amundson, Mary Beth (Torguson) Englehart, Dain Torguson, Terry (Torguson) Williams, Debora (Torguson) Kyle, Becky (Torguson) Terrill; and by six great grandchildren, Erica and John (Englehart), Megan (Williams), Jennifer (Orff), Jeffery Chan and Stephanie (Orff). She had been a resident of Tucson for 25 years. During her life time she was active in the Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors of America, Girl Scouts and during WWII served with the American Red Cross in ND. She was an accomplished pianist and provided the music for her daughter Carole’s Dance Studio and Revues. She also served as a Church organist. When her husband served with the American Red Cross she accompanied him on his assignment to Ft. Smith, Arkansas. As long as she was able she was active with her church groups at the Rincon Congregational Church. She was an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed. BERMUDEZ, Benjamin R., Sr., “Ben’, 62, of Tucson, passed away December 10, 1994. He is survived by wife, Delores; son, Benjamin (Denise) Bermudez, Jr.; daughters, Barbara Bermudez, Kathryn Bermudez, Cynthia Leon, Roberta (John) Vance and Virginia (Basilio) Morrillo; brothers, Joe (Delfina) Bermudez, Jr. and Frank Bermudez; sisters, Helen (Earl) Collins, Mary Daniels, Mary Helen (Peter) Herran; also survived by 12 grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death earlier this year by grandson, Peter J. Salazar, 17. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 1994 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church, 1220 S. 6th Ave. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery, North Oracle and Prince. He touched our lives with his joy and his unique brand of humor. He retired from Tucson Parks and Recreation in 1988. BUETOW, Robert C. passed away Monday, December 5, 1994. Survived by daughter, Roxanne Niles and son-in-law, Joel; son, Alan, son, David; grandson, Jason, grandson, Brandon, granddaughter, Briana; and Patricia Buetow. A private memorial was held on December 8. Bobby touched so many peoples hearts and brought a smile to the face of everyone he met. We’ll all miss “smiling Bobby’.
COMOLLI, Opal I., 80 years old, died December 11. Mrs. Comolli was brought to Arizona in her first year and has been here ever since. Her survivors include two sons, Wes (Katie) and Art (Carol), both of Tucson; two sisters; eight grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, and activity in her bowling league. Graveside Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 15 at South Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 14, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave.
COTEE, Charles C., 75, died December 11, 1994 at Tucson Medical Center. Mr. Cotee was born in Hazen, Arkansas and has lived in Arizona since 1939. An Army Veteran of WWII, a Civil Service employee at DMAFB for many years and member of the American Legion Post #7 of Tucson; and the VFW Post 9907 and the Elks Lodge 2090, both of Show Low. Survived by wife, Wilma; son, Ronald Pope of Tucson; daughter, Charlene Kozakiewicz of Show Low; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and brother, William Cotee of Tucson also survive. Funeral Mass Thursday, December 15 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church. Visitation Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Rosary recited at at 7:00 p.m. at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.
