BARBER, Dr. Bob Jay, age 53, died at home Thursday, December 29, 1994. He is survived by his wife, Lucette Rojeck Barber; son, Brent Jon Barber; daughter, Suzette Nandy Barber, all of Tucson; and his sister,. Bette Jo Barber Wiggins of Paradise Valley, AZ. Bob graduated from Phoenix Camelback High School and Northern Arizona University with a bachelor of science degree in zoology and physical chemistry. At NAU he was Student Body President, serving 1962-1963. Bob received his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree from Oregon Health Sciences, School of Dentistry in 1967. Upon graduation he was awarded a Naval Internship and served as a Lieutenant on the Samuel Gomper destroyer tender during the Vietnam War. Bob established his family dental practice in Tucson, Arizona in 1970. He was President of the Southern Arizona Dental Society 1979-1980 and was a member of the Arizona State Dental Association Board of Trustees. He was President of the State Dental Association, 1984-1985, and a founding member and former President of Delta Dental, 1972-1979. Bob has been a delegate to the American Dental Association and was appointed by Governors Mofford and Symington to the Board of Dental Examiners 1989-1993 and served one year as chairman. He was Arizona State Dental Association Dentist of the Year in 1990. He was the 1994 recipient of the ASDA Service Award for distinguished leadership as well as the Pierre Fauchard Academy (an International Honor Dental Organization) award. He was a fellow in both the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. Bob served on the NAU Alumni Association Board of Directors as well as in the Tucson Area Alumni Chapter Activities. He was given the 1993-94 NAU Alumni Service Award. Bob volunteered for the Elizabeth of Hungry Clinic, worked with the Tucson Community Food Bank and served as chairman of Food Bank Week. He was also a member of Rotary International. Memorial Services will be held at St. Pius X, 7651 East Pima, Tucson, Arizona on Tuesday, January 3, 1995 at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Tucson Community Food Bank and the NAU Scholarship Fund. BOOHER, Naomi Daily, born on March 31, 1923 in Olcott, West Virginia. She slipped away to be with the Lord on December 31, 1994 in the Hospice Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital with her family around her. She was married to John L. Booher on July 2, 1940 and was cared for by him completely these last few months. She is survived by her husband, John; son, Mike (Jan) Booher; daughter, Sue (Terry) Houck; five grandchildren, all in Tucson, Christopher Booher, Jason Booher, Craig Houck, Tim J. Houck, Meilii (Michael) Halfmann; two great-granddaughters, Sheyleen Houck of Tucson, Angelina Davis of Washington State, and the third littlest angel due in July, 1995 to Michael and Meilii Halfmann. She is survived by many relatives in West Virginia. The Lord was her best friend and he gave her a great zest for life, also a great love for people. She had a great number of bowling friends who will miss her spirit. Mrs. Booher served as an R.L.P.N. in the state of West Virginia; and upon arrival in Tucson in 1952 served as a member of the nursing staff at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was instrumental in better care for the aged and elderly in nursing homes here in Tucson. Her life was dedicated to her lord, her husband and her family. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends. Pastor Fred Woods of Immanuel Presbyterian Church will perform services at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL AND MORTUARY 5801 E. Grant Road on Wednesday, January 4, 1995, at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be Tuesday evening at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY FROM 6:00 TO 8:00 p.m.
CHRISTISON, Curtis, 82, died December 29, 1994 in Henderson, KY. Mr. Christison was a resident of Arizona for 40 years. He is survived by son, John E. (Christine) of Washington; daughter, Doris (Charles) Stury of Tucson; twin brother, Burtis (Kathryn) of Kentucky; brother, Everett (Kitty) of California; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was a member of Tucson Baptist Temple. Mr. Christison was known as a loving father and grandfather. Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 1995 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, followed by burial at South Lawn Cemetery. CALLICOTTE, Mary Virginia, 76, an Arizona native and long time resident of Tucson, passed away in Tucson on December 30, 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband, John N. Callicotte, Sr. She is survived by son, James of Yuma; son, John and his wife Nancy; grandchildren, Carol and John III of Tucson; sister, Betty (Gene) Gaddy of Blue, Arizona; and brother, John “Jack’ (Lorna) Marks of Tucson. Burial Services will be held in Clifton, AZ at 1:00 p.m. January 4 with a Memorial Service at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 750 W. Chapala Drive, Tucson at 1:00 p.m. on January 6. DIVELY, Florence Emma was born on June 20, 1910, in Louisville, Ohio and passed away on November 22, 1994 at Tucson Medical Center after a long illness. A Memorial Service will be held in the Sanctuary of Christ Church United Methodist, 655 N. Craycroft, on Wednesday November 30, 1994, at 4:00 p.m. She is survived by her husband, Don; and daughter, Joan Dively-Ashcraft; son-in-law, David Ashcraft; and two beloved grandsons, Christopher, age 14, and Timothy, age nine, all residing in Tucson. Surviving sisters include Marion Brodie of Vancouver, B.C., Jane Hoblitzell of Long Beach, Ruth Beyer of Albuquerque and Marcia Gundrum of Scottsdale. Florence taught school in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania for several years and when married, taught for a short time in Little Washington, Pennsylvania. Upon the bombing of Pear Harbor, she and her husband worked at Dravo Corporation, Neville Island, Pennsylvania, where she was in charge of stowage on LST’s and Destroyer Escorts. After the war, the family moved to Tucson where she assisted in the operation of Cactus Drug and Variety Store which she and her husband operated until 1969. She subsequently served as Financial Secretary at Trinity Presbyterian Church for several years until retirement. The family requests donations to the Cancer Care Center of Southern Arizona at Tucson Medical Center in lieu of flowers.

MELVEN, Thomas Laycock, 90, formerly of Indianapolis, died Thursday, November 24, 1994. He was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Halliday. He is survived by one sister, Ruth O. Bugg; niece, Barbara Bugg (Dick) Thompson; and stepson, Reed E. Halliday, all of IN; and niece, Nancy Bugg (Gene) Pride of WA. Mr. Melven was a retired partner of George S. Olive & Company, CPA’s. He started with this company in 1934 and after 36 years retired in 1970, and shortly thereafter moved to Tucson. He was a member of St. Philips in the Hills Parish. Tom was an Emeritus Life Associate of the National Association of Accountants and a life member of Elks Lodge #13 of Indianapolis, IN. Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 1994 at St. Philips in the Hills Episcopal Church, 4440 N. Campbell. Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army. PRAY, Martha Sullivan, Born in New York City in 1905, died in her sleep in Tucson on November 21, 1994. The daughter of a distinguished family of educators, Mrs. Pray graduated from Smith College and herself taught school for many years. In 1946 she moved to Tucson, where she was involved in countless community services, among them the Family Counseling Agency and the League of Women Voters. Predeceased last April by her husband of 63 years, Prior Pray; she is survived by a son, James of Tucson. At Mrs. Pray’s specific request there are to be no services.
