BELL, Mari Lou (Bailey), wife of Gale S. Bell, passed away on November 12, 1994. She was born in Jerome, AZ December 19, 1924 to Lowell C. (Tedd) Bailey and Mamie Marie (Cloud) Bailey. Mari and Gale have four sons, Tedd, Jeffry, Matt and Scott; and 24 grandchildren. Mari moved to Tucson when she was one year old and spent the remainder of her life in Tucson. She attended Sam Hughes Elementary, Mansfield Junior High and Tucson High School, class of 1943. Mari is a distinguished graduate of the U of A earning a bachelor of music in 1968 and a Masters Degree in 1971. Mari had delayed her college pursuits until after she had raised her four sons. During her high school and early college years Mari was an accomplished athlete in many sports. She achieved fame as a tennis player and dominated the tennis courts in Tucson and the entire Southwestern United States from 1942 to 1945, being ranked nationally at that time. The University of Arizona has placed her in the U of A Athletic Hall of Fame. Mari turned to music in her adult years and taught choral music at Magee Junior High for 15 years. Along with Mr. Robert Gabriel she organized the Pioneers of Music at Magee and the group was invited to perform at Disneyland USA. Mari was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints and directed music and choral programs along with young womens’ activities for years. She touched, enlightened the lives of all the young people she met. All of her life Mari has been a happy, loving, caring and sharing person. Her smile and contagious energetic spirit was an inspiration to everyone she met. Mari truly loved life and the opportunities it offered. She often expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity she had of coming to this earth. Mari loved her fellow man. Her friends included the high and mighty as well as the meek and humble without regard for race, gender or age. When you met Mari Bell you knew she was your friend forever. CLIFFTON, Robert S., died suddenly at his home in Tucson on Sunday, November 13, 1994. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Tucson. The Reverend Barbara Smith and Dr. J. Dayton McCormick of St. Andrews will conduct the service. Interment of cremains will be at Floral Grove Cemetery in West Unity, Ohio. Herrera November 13, 1954. LAGAROSSE, Dwyanna Lee, 12 years old, student of Pistor Middle School, died accidently Tuesday, November 15, 1994. Dwyanna is survived by mother, Brenda B. Lagarosse; brother, Marshall Hardee; grandparents, Donnie and Nancy Jo Belew, all of Tucson. She is survived by father, Gustave Lagarosse; and three brothers, John, Sean, and Paul; grandparents Voctor and Enola Lagarosse, all of Louisiana. Dwyanna has five aunts and three uncles; 14 cousins; two great-grandmothers, Julia Wilma Pollard of Tucson, and Mary Belew of Texas. MAY, Edwin Lee, 64, of Tucson, died Thursday, November 17, 1994. BURKARD, Donald P., 46, died on November 18, 1994. Survivors include brothers, Robert F. of Spottsville, KY, Gerald L. of Liberty SC; sisters, Karen (David) Toreno of Charleston, SC, Pamela J. Burkard of Tucson; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Burkard was born in Aruba in the Lesser Antilles. He was a resident of Tucson for 22 years and worked here as a respiratory therapist. CAMACHO, Leo R., 57, a native Tucsonian, passed away after a long illness on November 17, 1994 at Tucson Medical Center. Mr. Camacho is survived by his wife, Carmen; son, Rene; mother, Virginia Camacho; father, Alfredo Camacho; his sister, Barbara Camacho Benton; nephews, Steven Benton, Santiago Benton and Damian Benton; and devoted friend, Brenda Borden; as well as many cousins and friends. Mr. Camacho graduated from Tucson High School in 1955 and received his bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arizona in 1962 and was granted membership to Phi Alpha Theta for recognition of conspicuous attainments and scholarship in the field of History. He served the Social Security Administration with distinction from 1968 until his retirement in August, 1994. In 1977 Leo received the highest award ever granted to an Arizonan by the Social Security Administration, the prestigious Presidential Commission Citation and was the first Hispanic American to receive this award in the United States. Also in 1977, Mr. Camacho received the IMAGE (Incorporated Mexican-American Government Employees) award for outstanding contributions to the community. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 20, 1994, from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S.
