FRANK, Harvey, 82, died December 21, 1994 of Mesothelioma. Husband of Florence; father of Jaye Stefani, Leslie Paculba and Barry Frank; proud grandfather of Mark, Mara, David, Nicole, Jon, Anthony, Nathan, Katherine, Nicholas, Hadley, and Lisa. The Franks would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on January 1. Harvey loved to play cards, travel, garden, tell jokes and eat. He had a great joy of living and will be missed by many. Mr. Franks body has been donated to the University of Arizona Medical School. At his request there will be no services.

GLASGOW, Glen W., 90 years old, died December 20. Leaving his wife Isabel T. Glasgow; son, Dwight E. Glasgow; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren. Memorial will be at the First Church of God, 3355 N. Fontana, Pastor Siebels officiating, December 28, 1994 at 4:00 p.m. No flowers please. Donations may be made to the First Church of God.

BEST, Bertha J., age 88, of Tucson, AZ, died November 8, 1994. She is survived by: daughters, Gwen Whittier and Elizabeth Harmon; sister, Mary Clare Teresa; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass to be said 9:00 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 1994 at St. Odilia Catholic Church, 7570 N. Paseo Del Norte, with Graveside Services to follow at 1:30 p.m. in St. Francis Cemetery, 48th & Oak, Phoenix, AZ. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. @ Magee.

BIRKETT, Maurice L., Electrical Engineer, P.E., 71 years old, a resident of Tucson, died Sunday, November 6, 1994. Mr. Birkett is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Maureen Mata of El Paso, TX; sister, Doris (Modesto) and their daughters, Caryn and Sharon Compestine; and cousin, Gordon L. Wren (Jean), all of Steamboat Springs, CO; three grandchildren, Melissa, Marina and Michael Mata of El Paso, TX; and numerous relative and friends. He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles and Richard. Mr. Birkett was a World War II Navy Veteran, member of the following: Elks BPOE 385, Sahuaro Ski Club, Pinetop Lakes Golf and Country Club, and Catalina Methodist Church. Mr. Birkett was known for his own consulting business, M.L. Birkett and Associates. He assisted in setting up the Engineering Department of Pima County Facilities Management Division. Professional Memberships include: NSPE – National Society of Professional Engineers, ASPE – Arizona Society of Professional Engineers (State Vice President), IES – Illuminating Engineering Society (Chapter President), SAME – Society American Military Engineers (Post President). Past member of Tucson Municipal Improvements committee, Tucson Electrical Code Committee, Tucson Lighting Ordinance Committee. Family suggest contributions be made to Community Hospice at 4330 N. Campbell Ave., Tucson, AZ. 85718. Funeral will be held at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave., on Thursday, November 10 at 1:00 p.m. Viewing will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to services. Internment services at South Lawn Cemetery.

HANSON, Ever L., LCDR USN, Ret., 77, of Green Valley, died Monday, November 7, 1994. Survived by wife of 48 years, Rose Marie; son, Eric of CO; daughter, Gail of Tucson. Retired from the U. S. Navy in 1958. Resident of Tucson from 1960-1979 where he served as Pima County Director of the Arizona Department of Economic Security. Ever was an active member of Christ Presbyterian Church and served on the boards of many community organizations, including Mobile Meals and Model Cities. Ever retired to Green Valley where he was an active member of Valley Presbyterian Church. Per his request Ever was cremated and no services will be held. Remembrance contributions may be made to the Community Food Bank or charity of your choice.

HOLMBERG, Gerald Richard, a psychologist in private practice for 17 years in Tucson, passed away Monday, November 7, 1994. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Doris; six children, Sharon (Jan) Horn, Janice (Daniel) Harris and Scott Holmberg of Tucson, Keith (Denise) Holmberg of Chicago, Kathy (Elfego) Gomez of Colorado Springs and Heidi (Jedsen) Nunes of Yuba City; 11 grandchildren; brothers, Norm (Pat) Holmberg and Don (Marilyn) Holmberg; and sisters, Margit (Art) Wagner and Kathryn Holmberg of Nebraska and Ingrid (John) Hedlund of Colorado Springs. He was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 13, 1994 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Evangelical Free Church, 4700 N. Swan Road. Interment will follow in Nebraska. Memorial contributions will be received by the First Evangelical Free Church.

KELLY, Efrem G., 79 years old, a resident of Tucson, died November 5, 1994. Mr. Kelly was known to his friends and family as “E.G.’ or “Kelly’. He was a WWII Navy veteran, and had been an employee of Phelps Dodge in Bisbee for over 30 years. Mr. Kelly is survived by three daughters, Nancy (Arnold) Gates of Tucson, Frances Webb of Reno, NV, Shirley Rix of Sparks, NV; and many other relatives. There will be a private Memorial Service on Friday, November 11 at 6:00 p.m. at Government Heights Bi-Lingual Church, 102 E. Palmdale. Viewing will be on Thursday, November 11 between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

LEVY, Barton C., 48, of Tucson, died Tuesday, November 8, 1994. Survived by his wife, Wendy; children, Adam, Seth, Jessica; father, Irving Levy; sister, Barbara (Martin) Ganz. Mr. Levy was a 1968 graduate of Arizona State University and a graduate of the University of Phoenix. He was a member of the Society of Logistics Engineers. Memorial Service 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 1994 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. No flowers should be sent, the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Assoc., 5325 E. Pima, Tucson 85712-3631.

MCINTYRE, Bernardine Caviglia, born June 16, 1921 in Arivaca, Arizona, passed away Monday, November 7, 1994. Preceded in death by mother, Luz Encinas Caviglia and father, Angelo B. Caviglia. She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Edward; and her three loving children, Francis McIntyre, Michael (Laura) McIntyre and Patrick (Julie) McIntyre. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Casandra McIntyre, Christopher McIntyre, Michelle McIntyre and Andrew McIntyre. She is also survived by her four brothers, Simon (Socorro) Caviglia, Raymond (Diane) (deceased) Caviglia, Arthur (Angela) Caviglia and Albert (Mary Lou) Caviglia. Mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 11 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 215 S. Craycroft. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

NAUMAN, Robert “Bob’, 65, of Tucson, died November 6, 1994. Survived by mother, Ella Nauman of Tucson; two daughters, Tyann (Dan) Wallace of MI and Michell (Steve) Turner of NV; four grandchildren; and one uncle, Lester Nauman of Oracle. SONENBLICK, Chip Bennet, 30, of Tucson, AZ, died November 7, 1994. Chip Sonenblick a beloved son and brother – Always the seeker, Never the finder, Life’s pathway eluded him. Mother of Dr. John (Carol) Habra of Tucson, Dr. Farouk (Mary) Habra of Tucson, Nabil (Hedy) Habra of MI, Marcelle (Donald) Entenmann of Tucson, and Corinne (Nicolas) Gholam of Tucson; sister of Georgette Sidarous and Mary Baldazar both of Montreal, Canada; grandmother of Anthony Habra, Theresa (Keith) Kennedy, Michelle (Douglas) Fink, Nicole Habra, Mark Habra, Pauline (Gary) Zaro, Leila (Dean) Miller, Karen Habra, Jacques Habra, Tania (John) Eckweiler, Bechara Gholam, Rabih Gholam, Shirine Gholam and Lily Gholam; great grandmother of Kiley Kennedy, Luke Zaro, Cecily Miller, Eric Miller, Priscilla Miller and Katrina Eckweiler. Mass will be offered at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, 1994 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 5150 N. Valley View Rd. Grandchildren will be pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. HANKS, Mary Herrick, 97, passed away December 22, 1994. Survived by a son, R. Justus Hanks of Washington, DC; two daughters, Nancy Marshall of Santa Fe, NM, and Mary Louise Smith of Green Valley, AZ; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hanks and her late husband Raymond T. Hanks moved from Cleveland, OH in 1943. They operated two well known guest ranches for many years, Rincon Ranchito and Triple H Ranch Inn. Memorial Services will be held in Hudson, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Arrangements by BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

HATHAWAY, Earl B., 91, of Tucson, died December 18, 1994. Survived by wife, Margaret; children, Alden M. Hathaway of Pittsburgh, PA, Earl B. Hathaway, Jr of Stamford, CT, Anne Bowes of Duxbury, MA; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Buell of Phoenix, AZ. Mr. Hathaway retired as president of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. Memorial services will be held at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 2800 W.
