BIRKETT, Maurice L., Electrical Engineer, P.E., 71 years old, a resident of Tucson, died Sunday, November 6, 1994. Mr. Birkett is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Maureen Mata of El Paso, TX; sister, Doris (Modesto) and their daughters, Caryn and Sharon Compestine; and cousin, Gordon L. Wren (Jean), all of Steamboat Springs, CO; three grandchildren, Melissa, Marina and Michael Mata of El Paso, TX; and numerous relative and friends. He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles and Richard. Mr. Birkett was a World War II Navy Veteran, member of the following: Elks BPOE 385, Sahuaro Ski Club, Pinetop Lakes Golf and Country Club, and Catalina Methodist Church. Mr. Birkett was known for his own consulting business, M.L. Birkett and Associates. He assisted in setting up the Engineering Department of Pima County Facilities Management Division. Professional Memberships include: NSPE – National Society of Professional Engineers, ASPE – Arizona Society of Professional Engineers (State Vice President), IES – Illuminating Engineering Society (Chapter President), SAME – Society American Military Engineers (Post President).
