BOOHER, Naomi Daily, born on March 31, 1923 in Olcott, West Virginia. She slipped away to be with the Lord on December 31, 1994 in the Hospice Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital with her family around her. She was married to John L. Booher on July 2, 1940 and was cared for by him completely these last few months. She is survived by her husband, John; son, Mike (Jan) Booher; daughter, Sue (Terry) Houck; five grandchildren, all in Tucson, Christopher Booher, Jason Booher, Craig Houck, Tim J. Houck, Meilii (Michael) Halfmann; two great-granddaughters, Sheyleen Houck of Tucson, Angelina Davis of Washington State, and the third littlest angel due in July, 1995 to Michael and Meilii Halfmann. She is survived by many relatives in West Virginia. The Lord was her best friend and he gave her a great zest for life, also a great love for people. She had a great number of bowling friends who will miss her spirit. Mrs. Booher served as an R.L.P.N. in the state of West Virginia; and upon arrival in Tucson in 1952 served as a member of the nursing staff at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was instrumental in better care for the aged and elderly in nursing homes here in Tucson. Her life was dedicated to her lord, her husband and her family. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends. Pastor Fred Woods of Immanuel Presbyterian Church will perform services at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL AND MORTUARY 5801 E. Grant Road on Wednesday, January 4, 1995, at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be Tuesday evening at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY FROM 6:00 TO 8:00 p.m.

COHEN, Jack M., 85, of Tucson, died January 2, 1995. Survived by wife, Frances Sosnow Cohen of Tucson; daughters, Julie (Warren) Kaplan of Merrick, NY, Linda (Larry) Goldstein of Great Neck, NY, Nina (Arthur) Damast of Kings Point, NY; stepsons, Joseph (Phyllis) Sosnow of Tucson and Peter (Jeanne) Sosnow of Niskayuna, NY; grandchildren, Alyssa, Jessica, Michele, Scott, Zachary, Joshua, Allison, Sara, Emily and Molly. Memorial Services will be Tuesday 4:00 p.m. in the home of Phyllis and Joseph Sosnow with Rabbi Arthur R. Oleisky officiating. Interment Beth Moses Cemetery. Farmingsdale, NY Friday, January 6, 1995. DENDEL, Alberta, 84, died Thursday, December 8, 1994 in Tucson, AZ. Survived by daughter, Norma Jean Tartaglione; five grandchildren, Billy, Louis, Joseph Tartaglione, Lorianne Thexton, Julianne Tartaglione; 10 great-grandchildren. BELL, Mari Lou (Bailey), wife of Gale S. Bell, passed away on November 12, 1994. She was born in Jerome, AZ December 19, 1924 to Lowell C. (Tedd) Bailey and Mamie Marie (Cloud) Bailey. Mari and Gale have four sons, Tedd, Jeffry, Matt and Scott; and 24 grandchildren. Mari moved to Tucson when she was one year old and spent the remainder of her life in Tucson. She attended Sam Hughes Elementary, Mansfield Junior High and Tucson High School, class of 1943. Mari is a distinguished graduate of the U of A earning a bachelor of music in 1968 and a Masters Degree in 1971. Mari had delayed her college pursuits until after she had raised her four sons. During her high school and early college years Mari was an accomplished athlete in many sports. She achieved fame as a tennis player and dominated the tennis courts in Tucson and the entire Southwestern United States from 1942 to 1945, being ranked nationally at that time. The University of Arizona has placed her in the U of A Athletic Hall of Fame. Mari turned to music in her adult years and taught choral music at Magee Junior High for 15 years. Along with Mr. Robert Gabriel she organized the Pioneers of Music at Magee and the group was invited to perform at Disneyland USA. Mari was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints and directed music and choral programs along with young womens’ activities for years. She touched, enlightened the lives of all the young people she met. All of her life Mari has been a happy, loving, caring and sharing person. Her smile and contagious energetic spirit was an inspiration to everyone she met. Mari truly loved life and the opportunities it offered. She often expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity she had of coming to this earth. Mari loved her fellow man. Her friends included the high and mighty as well as the meek and humble without regard for race, gender or age. When you met Mari Bell you knew she was your friend forever. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 19 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, 3700 E. Ft. Lowell Road. Interment to follow at the L.D.S. Cemetery. CASTANO, Albert R. Jr., 65, of Tucson, passed away November 15, 1994. Survived by wife, Dorma Lee Castano; mother, Ysable R. Castano; daughters, Gloria (Sam) Contreras and Stella (Jack) Vandenbosh; stepsons, Ronald, Daniel and Jeffery Washington; sister, Ofelia Martinez; brothers, Henry, Alfonso, Horacio and Robert Castano. Also survived by four grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 17, 1994 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Capel), 204 S. Stone Ave., with Chapel Services, Friday, November 18, 10:00 a.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Capel). Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

CLIFFTON, Robert S., died suddenly at his home in Tucson on Sunday, November 13, 1994. “Si“ was born April 15, 1910 in West Unity, Ohio, the son of Samuel L. and Florence Smith Cliffton. He met his wife Margaret in the first grade and married her in 1932 after attending Albion College and graduating from General Motors Institute in Michigan. He worked for General Motors in a number of capacities from 1929-1948. He worked locally with the Joynt Construction Co. in Tucson from 1948-1953. He was parts manufacturing executive with Ford Motor Co. from 1953 to 1975 working in England from 1962-1975. He retired in 1975 as General Operations Mgr., General Products Operations, Ford of Britain. The Clifftons travelled widely and lived in England, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, California and Arizona. He attended St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Tucson and served as Deacon and Elder. He was a shriner with the Sabbar Temple in Tucson and played the clarinet in the Shrine band. He belonged to the the Knights Templar Commandery #1 in Tucson, the F & AM Lodge #4 and was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Scottish Rite. On November 11th he celebrated 50 years as a Mason. He was a past president of the North Tucson Exchange Club. Professional affiliations include the Engineering Society of Detroit and the Society of Automotive Engineers. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Jones Cliffton; children, Robert Smith, Jr. and Anne of Maryland; John Samuel and Kathleen of Virginia, Sara L. and David Woollard of England and Sue E. and Peter Cappadona of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Adam S., Samantha L., Samuel S. Cliffton and Robert and Marc Woollard. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 19 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Tucson. The Reverend Barbara Smith and Dr. J. Dayton McCormick of St. Andrews will conduct the service. Interment of cremains will be at Floral Grove Cemetery in West Unity, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the Exchange Club Parent Aide Program, 347 E. Speedway or the Organ Club of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Tucson.

Mother of Arnoldo, Hector, Herman, Leo, Arturo Rascon, Luz Cray, Guadalupe Sandoval, all of Tucson, Isabel Rascon-Gomez of CO, Irma Garcia and Alicia Lopez, both of Mexico; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister of Jesus, Luis, Amador, Lindorfe, Francisca, Guillermo Estrada and Isabel Pena, Domitila Rascon, all of Mexico. Scripture Service will be held Saturday, November 19, 1994 at 10:00 a.m. at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL. Friends may call Friday, November 18, 1994 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3435 N. 1st Ave., (888-1111).

GRABOWSKI, Genevieve, 72, died November 16, 1994. Survived by her children, Linda Phillips of Tucson and Nancy Elliott of Washington State; sister, Adeline Haley of WI; three grandchildren also survive. Mass will be offered at 12:00 noon on Friday, November 18 at Our Mother Of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Road, with interment to follow at Our Lady of The Desert Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 18, at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

BARR, Audrey B., died Sunday, November 13, 1994. Born March 25, 1900, Hambleton, WV. Husband Perry W. Barr, seven sisters and three brothers preceded her in death. Survived by daughter, Glenda C. Hampshire; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and four step- great-great-grandchildren. Retired employee of U.S. Department Of Agriculture, Washington, DC in 1962. Lived in Defiance, OH until 1985 when she moved to Tucson. Private entombment services were held at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

DUGGAN, Bruce Thomas, died at University Medical Center in Tucson on Monday, November 14, 1994 after a long illness. Death was due to complications of AIDS. Bruce was born November 18, 1955 in Oklahoma City, educated at Casady School and the Oil Companies School in Tripoli, Libya. He graduated from Deerfield Academy and the University of Arizona with degrees in Arid Land Management and Environmental Horticulture. Prior to his illness, he was employed by AAA Landscape of Arizona as Maintenance supervisor for over eight years. Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, November 18 at St. Francis in the Foothills, followed by a celebration of his life and 39th birthday at the residence of Constance Sears (1966 E. Campbell Terrace). All friends are invited. Survived by mother, Jeanne Duggan, Carrboro, NC; father, William L. Duggan, Nikomas, FL; brother, William L. Duggan, Jr., Plainsboro, NJ; niece, Andrea Duggan also of Plainsboro; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lionel Callawy of Pinehurst, NC. Memorials may be made to PACT or the charity of choice. Arrangements made by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

GENTRY, Donna A., 97, of Tucson, died November 14, 1994. Donna A. Gentry, has lived in Arizona for over 90 years. She attended school in Bisbee and Douglas. After graduation Donna attended Optometry School in Santa Monica, CA where she graduated. Donna’s father C.B. Austin who was Warehouse Manager for Phelps Dodge in Bisbee until he homesteaded 13 miles north of Douglas on the Lesile Canyon Rd. Donna worked in Pasadena, CA and Phoenix before her marriage to James Thomas Gentry in 1925 where they moved to Bisbee, Tombstone, and Tucson. Donna was a member of the founding Chapter of Cowbells. Donna, was preceded in death by late husband, James Thomas Gentry who was a prominent Bisbee attorney who came to Bisbee in 1917 after discharge from U.S. Army stationed at Demming, NM. He also was in ranching and farming business in Arizona and Arkansas. Survived by son, James T. Jr. (Joan) Gentry; daughters, Donna Frances (Martin) Knudson, Carol Virginia (Robert) Rombough; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, all of Tucson. Funeral Services Thursday, November 17, 1994 at 2:00 p.m. at the BISBEE FUNERAL HOME on Hwy 92 of Bisbee, AZ with Mr. Harry Mitchell officiating. Visitation Thursday, November 17, 1994 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the BISBEE FUNERAL HOME. Memorial Services will be held later in Tucson, AZ at the RLDS Church, 1101 S. Melpomene Way, on Sunday December 4, 1994 at 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donna A. Gentry’s honor may be made to the Church Building Fund C/O RLDS Chruch, 1101 S. Melpomene Way, Tucson, AZ 85711. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, immediately following the Chapel Service.

GIANFORTE, Lucy A., 72, of Tucson, passed away November 14, 1994. Preceded in death by husband, James F. Gianforte. Survived by daughters, Dianne (Michael) Brooks and Penelope (Sydney) DeGon; sisters, Josephine Cummings, Mary (Gus) De Angolis, Elizabeth Victor, Madeline (Ray) Bryant and Patricia (Louis) Cid; also survived by four grandchildren. GRAVES, MICHAEL W., 38, passed away November 12, 1994. Preceded in death by his father, Bobby Joe Graves and brother, James Graves. CLAYTON, Melvin M., 69, of Tucson, passed away November 11, 1994. Survived by his wife, Betty; two sons, Larry (Debbie) Clayton of TX and Randy (Andrea) Clayton of CA; two daughters, Jo Ann (Ronnie) Poe of Tucson and Barbara (Michael) Landers of CA; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Clayton has 10 brothers, two sisters and two half-sisters as well as many nieces and nephews whom will feel a very deep loss. Friends may call at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N.
