PHILLIPS, Lottie S., 79, of Tucson passed away November 6, 1994. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, D.S. “Brig’ Phillips in 1981; and is survived by her three children, Daryl (Ray) Fowler of Yorba Linda, CA, Kristin (John) Hornburg of Brentwood, CA and Steven (Glenda) of Tucson; her three grandchildren, (Clint, Staci and Annie Phillips) of Tucson; her sister, Carol Shourds of Tucson; and her two brothers, Harold (Josephine) Stevens and Leland (Judy) Stevens of Thatcher, AZ. Lottie was born to George and Nellie Stevens, in Safford, AZ on June 11, 1915 and was the granddaughter of Dr. William E. and Isabella Romney Platt of Graham County; Dr. Platt was the first Medical Doctor in Eastern AZ. Mrs. Phillips, who had lived in Tucson the past 14 years, and her late husband were involved virtually all of their lives in farming in Thatcher and Yuma, AZ. RICO, Alfredo R., born October 26, 1909 in Altar, Sonora, Mexico, passed away November 5, 1994. Preceded in death by six sisters, Armida Reichenbach, Adela Olivas, Josefa Carrillo, Maria Carrillo, Lupe Carrillo and Jesus Alday. Survived by wife, Bertha B. Rico; sons, Alfred of Chevy Chase, Md., Jesus (Francisca) and Armando (Eloina); daughter, Rebecca (Raul) Montano of Tucson, AZ; sisters, Margarita Olivas, Porfiria Gastellum, Rosa Gonzalez, Carmen Alday and Alicia (Robert) Mendez; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Alfredo was the only son of Jesus and Porfiria Rico’s 12 children. He moved to Tucson in 1912, spent one year in Ajo, one year in Ray, AZ and settled permanently in Barrio Anita for the rest of his life. He was employed by Tucson Warehouse and Transfer Company for 46 years. Alfredo was a Deacon for Holy Family Church and involved with Model Cities. One of the founders of the Latin American Club (Latino) and Father’s Club. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 1994 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. OBLIGATO, Albert R., 79, formerly of Tucson, died Thursday, November 3, 1994 in Coeur d’Alene, ID, of complications of a heart attack. He was born January 3, 1915 in Janesville, WI of Charles and Rose (Barbera) Obligato. He was a graduate of Beloit College in Beloit, WI and later served in the Army Air Corps in the North African campaign during WWII. Mr. Obligato was married to Isabelle K. Gondolfo on November 22, 1941 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1991. Prior to retiring, he was vice-president of the Charles Obligato Schlitz Distributorship in southern Wisconsin/Northern Illinois until 1968. At that time he moved to Tucson, worked in retail sales and was a member of St. Cyril Catholic Church until April of 1992 when his beloved wife died. For the past two and one-half years he had been living with his son Peter in both southern CA and Coeur d’Alene, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Obligato; and adopted sister, Elizabeth Udovich. Mr. Obligato is survived by children, Charles Obligato of South Beloit, IL, Peter and Janice Obligato of Coeur d’Alene, and Rose Sarah and David Moeller of Phoenix, AZ; also six grandchildren. TRUJILLO, Rosie B., 60, died Thursday, November 3, 1994. A native and life long resident of Arizona. Survived by her husband, Elias T. WELCH, Dora Jo “Pudsy Heap’, the daughter of Northern Arizona pioneering stock, (Rosenblatts, Heaps, Banghardt and Wells), passed away on Thursday, November 3, 1994. Born September 26, 1929 in Bronxville, New York where her father was a stockbroker on Wall Street. Upon his return to Prescott, to run the family business, she was raised and educated in Prescott until attending the University of Arizona, in Tucson, majoring in Journalism. While there she met and married Rudy Zepeda, a descendent of a prominent pioneering family of Southern Arizona and Mexico. They lived and worked at “Rancho San Carlos’ in Sonora, Mexico, raising not only cattle but seven of her nine surviving children, Kathryn Compton, Richard Zepeda, Karen Henson, Chris Zepeda, Mark Zepeda, Philip Zepeda and Fredrick Zepeda. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Maria, Kevin, Austin and Cristian Compton, Alexandria and Victoria Zepeda; Rebecca, Christina and Daniel Hurst; Brandon, Philip and Linnea Zepeda. After being left with the ranch in 1972 she went on to become a legend in Sonoran Cattle Industry circles by blazing new trails for a woman in a male dominated business. The ranch was changed to “Rancho San Joaquin’ and is now a model of success. In 1977 she married architect Wallace Welch of Prescott who precedes her in death. While she continued to be actively involved in the ranching activities in Mexico, she committed her life to serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A major highlight of her ministering service was a trip to the Orient where, she was successful smuggling bibles into interior of China. Funeral Services will be held at Word of Life Assembly of God Church, Prescott, AZ on Monday, November 7, 1994 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor John Luttman officiating.
