THERIT, Carroll C., age 90, of Tucson, died October 19, 1994. Mr. Therit was born October 12, 1904 in Manchester, MD. Survived by daughter, Becky Lacock; two grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter; brother, George of New Oxford, PA. He was a Thirty Second Degree Mason, a member of Lebonon Lodge No. 175, Manchester, MD, and Nelson C. Bledsoe Lodge No. 74, Tucson, AZ. There will be no memorial service. TOTO, Mary Ann, 77, died October 18, 1994. Mother of, Mary Constance Toto, Anthony W. (Kimberly) Toto, and Thomas (Benadelle) Toto, all of Tucson; sister of, Georgann (Louis) Toto, Mary Frances Carter, John Galioto, Joseph Galioto Sr., George Galioto, all of Tucson, Anthony Galioto of OH, and Thomas Galioto of WA; grandmother of, Christopher, William, Anthony, Patrick, China Ann, Carmella, Angelo and Roman Toto; sister-in-law of, Arthur Toto of Tucson. WILKINSON, Edward L., 72, a long-time resident, died October 19, 1994. Born in Rosebud, Arkansas, July 3, 1922. Resided in Phoenix from 1936-62 and in Tucson from 1962-94. Retired from Mountain Bell in 1978 after 37 years of service. He is survived by two daughters, Susanne (Jack) Lasseter, and Trudy (Joseph) Richard of Tucson; four grandchildren, Andrew and Nancy Lasseter, Kelly and Amy Richard; brother, A.D. Wilkinson; and other loving family in Arizona, Nevada, and Arkansas. A Memorial Service will be held at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway), on Saturday, October 22, 1994, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Education Enrichment Foundation, 661 N. WILSON, Robert N., 87, resident of Tucson, died October 19, 1994. Preceded in death by son, Robert; and stepchildren, Betty Johnson, Patty MacDonald, and James Thornton. YAVERSKI, Edward R., 86, of Tucson, passed away October 19, 1994. He is survived by wife Adella of Tucson; daughters, Rita M. Polley of OK, Anne A. Murray of Tucson; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Henry Jawarski of NJ; sisters, Sophia Bushinski of PA, and Irene Remocle of NJ. Rosary will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 1994 at Hudgel’s SWAN FUNERAL HOME, 22nd and Swan. Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, October 24, 1994 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church. Interment will follow at South Lawn Cemetery.

ARMSTRONG, Christine Moon, of Tucson, died October 20, 1994. Founding member of Tucson Symphony Women’s Association in the early 1950's. Christine was instrumental in setting up St. Luke’s in the Desert at University Medical Center. Throughout the 1970's she served as head of their Board of Visitors, donating time and providing funding for its pulmonary clinic activities. Her devotion to the clinic, as well as her support, continued throughout her lifetime. She also provided funding as well as inspiration for the Christine Moon Armstrong Lecture Series: This educational program has become the basis for the largest osteoporosis support in the U.S. Her dream was to see arthritis cured and, through her generosity, the Arizona Arthritis Center at the University of Arizona will be opening a new facility in 1995. This center will be renamed the Armstrong Arthritis Center in memory of a woman who wished to leave a legacy to good health to future generations. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the Arizona Arthritis Center/U of A Foundation or the Tucson Symphony Association. Mrs. Armstrong is survived by her husband of 48 years, Fred E.; son, Frederick, Jr.; three grandchildren, Fred E. Armstrong III, Cory M. Armstrong, and Traci A. Armstrong; and great-grandson, Zachary H. Armstrong. Memorial Services will be held at St. Philip’s in the Hills Episcopal Church, 4400 N. Campbell Ave. at River Rd., on Monday, October 24, 1994 at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverend Father Roger Douglas officiating. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Caviglia, Diane Hamilton, born July 25, 1930 in Tucson, AZ, passed away Thursday, October 20, 1994 after a lengthy illness. Preceded in death by mother, Anita Aguirre Hamilton; father, Leonard Hamilton; and sister, Yvonne Hamilton Curlee. She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Ray; and her four loving children, Ronald R. Caviglia, Gary (Cheryl) Caviglia, Debbie Caviglia, and Cathy Caviglia (Kurt Askenasy). She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Lisa Caviglia, Ryan Caviglia, Christina Caviglia, Michael Armenta, Christopher Armenta and Catherine Armenta. Diane was active in the Arizona Historical Society, Tucson-Pima County Historical Commission and Los Desciendentes Del Presidio De Tucson. The family suggests donations in Diane’s memory to the American Cancer Society, Pima County Unit. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Donald Hill and all his staff at Thomas Davis Clinic. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 24, 1994 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 215 S. Craycroft. CECCHINI, Josephine, 85, of Tucson, died October 21, 1994. Aunt of, Joan V. (Wayne) Garrett of Tucson. Also survived by several nieces an nephews in California and New York. CENAC, Daisy “Dede’ 68, resident of Green Valley for 15 years, passed away on October 18, 1994. Formerly from Kansas. Survived by children; Rebecca Norton of Tucson, Mark Cenac of Sausalito, CA, David Cenac of Tucson, Stephen Cenac of Tucson, Daniel Cenac of Tucson; five grandchildren. CICALA, William Vito, Sr., born May 20, 1911 in Palazzolo Sicily, began his “new’ life on Wednesday, October 19, 1994. After moving to Tucson in 1948, he worked as foreman with Wesley Miller Homes; began Cicala Construction; was part owner of Mama Louisa’s Restaurant; and was a founding member of the Italian American Club. His eldest son John preceded him in death. He is survived by Mary, his wife of 56 years; Peter, his brother; Armin, William Jr., Frank, Francine Brinkley and Marybeth, his children; 11 grandchildren ranging in ages from 22 years to 2 months; and one 3 week old great-grandson. He was the most loved husband, brother, father and “Compare’ who will live in our heart forever and ever. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tucson Medical Center Hospice, 5301 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ 85712. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Mass will be offered 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 24, 1994 at St. Frances Cabrini, 3201 E. CONNER, Tammy, preceded in death by her daughter, Katherine. Mrs. Conner is survived by her beloved husband, Jim Roszko; her mother, Ruth Lee Conner; daughter, Carol O’Keeffe; and son-in-law, Herb Tucker; father, David; brothers, David and Edward Conner; one aunt; and loving cousins. Tammy died at home with all the loving care possible after a long illness. Tammy had a great and exciting life. At the age of 3 1/2, she was the youngest person to ever christen a U.S. Warship (U.S.S. Conner) Destroyer on July 18, 1942, and as a teen-ager, she became a model, then progressing to an acting career with 20th Century Fox. After coming to Tucson, she continued her acting, doing parts in various movies, such as B.D. Cooper, Gunsmoke, and many local and national commercials. Tammy’s second career in real estate has been quite successful with her being a member of the Roy Long Million Dollar Club many times. Visitation for family and friends, Saturday, October 22, 1994 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at ARIZONA MORTUARY, 7 E. University Blvd. Funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 24, 1994 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church (Campbell and Lee) with burial to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. DAUGHERTY, Mable F., 62, of Tucson, died October 19, 1994. Survived by husband, Harold; daughters, Angela C. (Paul) Carbone, Leslie C. (Lloyd) Ulmer; two grandchildren, Christina Carbone and Jenna Carbone, all of Tucson; brother, James V. Slagle of Springfield, VA. DEGLER, Cynthea Dee, age 20, of Tucson, AZ, born March 4, 1974 in Harvard, IL, moved to Arizona in 1989. Graduated from Rincon High School in 1992 and attended Pima Community College. Employed by Arizona Stage Coach. Finally at peace on Tuesday, October 18, 1994. Survived by parents, mother Patricia (Schavee) Degler/John Doherty, father Jim Degler and Rennee Degler; sisters, Rhody (Vaupel) Kelly O’Brien, Robyn (Vaupel) Halbe Wynstra Jr.; step-sister, Vicki Blanco; step-brothers, Cesar and Dan Blanco; nieces, Kaleigh and Melissa O’Brien, Lynzee Wynstra; and nephew, Addem Wynstra; grandfather, Mike Schavee; grandmother, Betty (Degler) Regelin; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was love by many. Service was held with Tucson friends at South Lawn Mortuary. Arrangements in Harvard, IL, made by Saunders McFarlin Mortuary. Visitation from 11:30 to 12:30 on Monday, October 24, 1994. Private family service will be held at St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery.

HOUSMAN, Winifred L., 74, of Tucson, died October 19, 1994. Survived by sons, Harry J. (Sue) Housman of Morristown, NJ; John A. (Bonnie) Housman of Grandforks, ND; sister, Alice E. Hahn of Tucson; grandchildren, Bonnie, Dawn, Robin, Molly and Christopher Housman; and great-grandson Brendan Jon Housman. Services Monday, 1:30 p.m. at Evergreen Mortuary with Rev. PHILLIPS, James “J.’ IV, of Tucson, died October 18, 1994 from complications arising from Aids. Preceded in death by Zafer B. Zaitoon. Survived by father, James Phillips III; mother, Elizabeth Flake Phillips; long cherished sister, Barbara Thomas; his nephew, Matthew D. Thomas, his special, beloved and brave friend; sister, Laura Coleman; brother, Scott Phillips; his friend and companion, Maurizio Romano; his long time friend and confidant, Joseph Tye; and numerous friends. J. loved to read, travel, cook, music, hike, and challenge people. He is missed. No services will be held. Scattering of the ashes will be private. “NO SNOWFLAKE FALLS IN AN INAPPROPRIATE PLACE’.

BLOCH, Rosa, died October 22, 1994 in Tucson. She and her husband, Bernard (Bunny) Bloch, moved to Mesa, AZ from Detroit, MI in 1948, before settling in Tucson. Widowed in 1959, she is survived by her two children, Richard (Nancy) Bloch of Sante Fe, NM, Nancy (Paul) Present of Tucson; grandchildren, Andrew (Robin) Bloch, Jonathan (Lisa) Bloch, Lisa (Rick) Olshansky, Bobby (Deborah Oseran) Present, Cynthia (Steven) Wool and William (Teresa) Present; 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral Service Tuesday, October 25, 1994 at 10:30 a.m. at Temple Emanu-El, 225 N. Country Club Rd. with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. CONWAY, Julius (Jay) W., died October 21, 1994. Mr. Conway is survived by his wife, Mollie; son, Edward (Charlotte) Conway; grandsons, William (Linda) Conway of Ohio, Wayne Conway of Ohio, Michael Conway of Tucson; great-grandson, Ryan Conway of Ohio; brothers, Truman (Kitt) Conway of Missouri, Donald Conway of CA; sister, Pauline (Bob) Conway of Oregon; and many nieces and nephews. Jay retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1965 after 40 years of service. He later worked in real estate for several years.
