LAWRENCE, Arthur B., 82, of Tucson and Ohio, died October 17, 1994 in Saratoga Springs, New York. He was a parks guard in the City of Tucson. Survived by wife of 58 years, Ruthe; children, Daniel A. (Dena) Lawrence of Saratoga Springs, New York, G. Larry (Roberta) Lawrence, and Barbara F. (James) Johnson of Tucson; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; also survive as well as sisters; Gail (Paul) Shibler, Peggy (Atlee) Baker, and Ruth (Herm) Smitley, all of Dover, Ohio. Mr. Lawrence was a member of the Tucson Vigilantes, Mountain Men, Tucson Jr. Chamber of Commerce, Eagles, and Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Dover, Ohio. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway) from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 1994. ONTIVEROS, Alice Barcelo, 70, of Tucson, died October 17, 1994. Survived by her husband, Joe Ontiveros; daughter, Grace Hunter; son, Daniel Ontiveros; sisters, Lillie Dickey, Mary Garcia and Clara Aguilar; brother, Robert Barcelo. A graduate of the University of Arizona, Mrs. Ontiveros was employed by Steinfelds for many years. She was also a volunteer at Kino Community Hospital and the Ajo Way Juvenile Detention Center. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 21, 1994 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at South Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 5401 S. Park Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held on Saturday, October 22, 1994, 9:00 a.m., at Santa Cruz Church. Burial will be in Holy Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Ontiveros was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

PHILLIPS, James “J.’ IV, of Tucson, died October 18, 1994 from complications arising from Aids. Preceded in death by Zafer B. Zaitoon. Survived by father, James Phillips III; mother, Elizabeth Flake Phillips; long cherished sister, Barbara Thomas; his nephew, Matthew D. Thomas, his special, beloved and brave friend; sister, Laura Coleman; brother, Scott Phillips; his friend and companion, Maurizio Romano; his long time friend and confidant, Joseph Tye; and numerous friends. J. love to read, travel, cook, music, hike, and challenge people. He is missed. No services will be held. Scattering of the ashes will be private. “NO SNOWFLAKE FALLS IN AN APPROPRIATE PLACE’.

PRUZZO, Raymond L., 57, of Tucson, died October 17, 1994. Survived by wife of 11 years, Jacki; father, Sam; mother-in-law, Rose Mayhew; sisters-in-law, Geri (Mike) Michalsky of Tucson, and Judith Pruzzo of Dallas; nieces; Danielle Michalsky and Nicole (Kenny) Sipos of Tucson, and Maria (Mike) Richards and Lisa Pruzzo of Dallas; nephews, Eric (Tawyne) and Brian Pruzzo of Dallas; great-nephews, Kenny Sipos, III of Tucson and Tyler Pruzzo of Dallas; great-niece, Samantha Sipos of Tucson. Ray graduated from Salpointe High School and Lamson’s Business College with a degree in accounting. In high school he played basketball and softball. He coached women’s slow pitch softball and took them to the state finals. He also loved the Arizona Wildcats. He was a Toastmaster for 25 years serving as President and Area Governor at various times. He helped form a Toastmasters at Florence Prison and was named Toastmaster of the Year for his work. He bowled for 25 years, participating in state tournaments every year and served on the Board of the Tucson Bowling Association. He currently was a member of the Just For Fun Dart League and coined the phrase “Ray Dart’ for his consistent ones. He was also an avid blackjack player and always was willing to share his blackjack skills with others. Although disables for some time, he embraced live and lived it to it’s fullest. He will be missed by everyone. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway), from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 1994. (Kimberly) Toto, and Thomas (Benadelle) Toto, all of Tucson; sister of, Georgann (Louis) Toto, Mary Frances Carter, John Galioto, Joseph Galioto Sr., George Galioto, all of Tucson, Anthony Galioto of OH, and Thomas Galioto of WA; grandmother of, Christopher, William, Anthony, Patrick, China Ann, Carmella, Angelo and Roma Toto; sister-in-law of, Arthur Toto of Tucson. She was a supervisor of the Shaklee Company, and a member of Catholic Daughters of America. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 1994 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL. WILLEY, Azile Sybil, age 81, passed away on October 12, 1994 at a local hospital. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Joseph S. (Florence Willey) Perusse of Marietta, Georgia; her brother, Mr. John H. Lloyd of St. Louis, Missouri; and two granddaughters, Elizabeth Lloyd Perusse of Atlanta, Georgia, and Cameron Marie of Perusse of Marietta, Georgia who is also a student at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. The Memorial Service for Mrs. Willey will be held on Sunday, October 23, 1994 at 3:00 p.m. In the chapel of St. Francis of the Valley Episcopal Church in Green Valley, Arizona with Father William T. Holt, III officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Columbarium of the Church. Mrs. Willey was a member of St. Francis of the Valley Episcopal Church in Green Valley, Arizona; a graduate of Montana State University; and a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Caviglia, Diane Hamilton, born July 25, 1930 in Tucson, AZ, passed away Thursday, October 20, 1994 after a lengthy illness. Preceded in death by mother, Anita Aguirre Hamilton; father, Leonard Hamilton; and sister, Yvonne Hamilton Curlee. She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Ray; and her four loving children, Ronald R. Caviglia, Gary (Cheryl) Caviglia, Debbie Caviglia, and Cathy Caviglia (Kurt Askenasy). She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Lisa Caviglia, Ryan Caviglia, Christina Caviglia, Michael Armenta, Christopher Armenta and Catherine Armenta. Diane was active in the Arizona Historical Society, Tucson-Pima County Historical Commission and Los Desciendentes Del Presidio De Tucson. The family suggests donations in Diane’s memory to the American Cancer Society, Pima County Unit. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Donald Hill and all his staff at Thomas Davis Clinic. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 24, 1994 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 215 S. Craycroft. CICALA, William Vito, Sr., born May 20, 1911 in Palazzolo Sicily, began his “new’ life on Wednesday, October 19, 1994. After moving to Tucson in 1948, he worked as foreman with Wesley Miller Homes; began Cicala Construction; was part owner of Mama Louisa’s Restaurant; and was a founding member of the Italian American Club. His eldest son John preceded him in death. He is survived by Mary, his wife of 56 years; Peter, his brother; Armin, William Jr., Frank, Francine and Marybeth, his children; 11 grandchildren ranging in ages from 22 years to 2 months; and one 3 week old great-grandson. He was the most loved husband, brother, father and “Compagno’ who will live in our heart forever and ever. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tucson Medical Center Hospice, 5301 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ 85712. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Mass will be offered 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 24, 1994 at St. Frances Cabrini, 3201 E. FERRIER, Frank D., 78, of Tucson, was taken to Heaven on October 15, 1994 to be reunited with the great love of his life, Thirza Ridley, who passed away in 1970. For 44 years Frank was a beloved father figure to the Ridley children, Joann Scammon of Tucson, and Warren Ridley of Tullahoma, TN; grandfather/great-grandfather to their children and grandchildren respectively. Also survived by brother, H.F. Ferrier of North Apollo, PA; nieces, Donna McCauley of Worthington, OH, Debbie Conwell and Christine Ferrier, both of Lower Burrell, PA; grand-nephew, David Guss of Cary, NC; cousins, Nancy Hill of Scottsdale, AZ, Jane Pepper of Phoenix, AZ and Daphne Kuelper of Kittanning, PA. Frank gave much more than he ever received during his lifetime and truly epitomized the term “Unconditional Love’. Private Memorial and Burial Services. Remembrances may be made by donations to Casas Adobes Baptist Church Building Fund or to a favorite charity.

GALLAGHER, Karen Ann, 48, of Phoenix, died October 16, 1994. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Loretta Doherty; and infant daughter, Tracy Lou Stai. She is survived by her children; Hugh Daniel (Karen) Schrank, and Tricia (John) Mendoza; grandchildren, Jerod Schrank, Savannah and Shelby Mendoza; parents, Hugh and Janet Gallagher; brother, Patrick (Dawn) Gallagher; sisters, Donna Mobley, Loretta (Vince) Allen, Maureen (Richard) Peters, Beth Gallagher, and Trudi Browning, all of Tucson; ten nieces and nephews; and special friend, Don Pedigo, Phoenix. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 1994 at Santa Catalina Catholic Church, 14380 N. Oracle Rd. Arrangements by DESERT ROSE.

HOSEA, Grace V., 72, of Kearny, passed away October 18, 1994. She is survived by husband, James W. Hosea of Kearny; son, Denard and his wife Chris Brandt; daughters, Clarine and her husband Tom Haslag, Ellen and her husband Dave Parkhurst; nine grandchildren; sister, Geri and her husband Bill Madden. Mrs. Hosea was in the first graduating class of 1941 at Amphi High School. She was a long time resident of the Copper Basin. A member of the Friends of the Kearney Library. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Christ Church United Methodist, Craycroft and 5th Streets with Rev. Tom Kiracofe officiating. Interment will follow at South Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by Hudgel’s SWAN FUNERAL HOME, 22nd and Swan.

GAGNON, Lucy Hook, 86, died October 16, 1994 at home in Tucson, Arizona after a long illness. Born in Lafayette County near Odessa, Missouri, she is survived by a daughter, Sandra J. (Moore) Spangler (Hayward) of Tucson; two grandchildren, Lara E. Spangler of Boston, MA, and Reginald H. Spangler of Tucson; a sister, Eula Dearborn of Manhattan, Kansas; a niece, Judith Allen of Garden City, Kansas; nephews, Robert Dearborn of Marion, Iowa and Bret E. Evans of Dallas, Texas. A Tucson resident for 18 years, Ms. Gagnon retired in 1969, after a 35 year career teaching English and social studies in the secondary schools of Hannibal and Ilasco, Missouri. She received the B.S. degree in education in 1929 from Central Missouri State Teachers College in Warrensburg majoring in history and English. In 1938, she received the M.A. in education and history from the University of Missouri at Columbia. She has been a member of national and state professional teaching associations, the AAUW, and the Tucson Association for the Blind. Interment will be in the Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, Illinois. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Tucson Association for the Blind. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel. No services have been planned at this time.

SANTEE, Margaret E., 80, died Thursday, October 20, 1994. Survived by daughters, Sharron (Ken) Fogel of WA, Sonnia (John) Iliescu of NV, and Donna Rudolph of Tucson; grandchildren, Paul and Sean Taylor, and Nicolle Rudolph; great-grandchild, Alyssa Taylor; two sisters, Rebecca Rutan and Wilma McCracken, both of PA; and brother, Frank G. Duncan of LA. Margaret was a long time member of Order Eastern Star of Cameron, WV. She taught school at Sam Hughes Elementary School for 25 years and was with Sunnyside School District Prior to that. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to service time on Saturday, October 22, 1994 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 1994.
