ZEITERS, Eric W., 46, of Tucson, died September 30, 1994 after a long illness. He was a valuable man to his community and his family. He thought independently, and challenged both friends and opponents. He actively worked to make a better life for others. He volunteered often, and devoted himself and his time to the causes he believed in. He taught through the example of his life, and he taught himself continuously. He was admired and respected by his students of Taekwon-do. Survived by wife, Patricia James-Zeiters; son, Christopher J. McFarland; daughter, Marie S. McFarland, all of Tucson; mother, Beverly Zeiters of Marysville, OH; brother, Carl Zeiters of Columbus, OH; and sister, Karen Dixon of Marysville, OH. Friends may call Tuesday, October 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY, N. Oracle and West Miracle Mile. Long, all of MI; grandchildren, John, Amy, Traci, Dawn, Jean, Noreen and David; and ten great-grandchildren. Memorial Services 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY, N. Oracle and W. COLEMAN, Rita F. “Garcia’, 63, of Santa Rosa, CA, died October 1, 1994 in Tucson. Survived by daughters, Dorothy (Randy) Coleman-Riese of Santa Rosa, CA, Diane (Dan Campbell) Wilson of Tucson; sons, Gene Coleman of Tucson, James Coleman of Monterey, CA; sister, Aurora Carrizoza of Tucson; 10 nieces and nephews; and six grandchildren. Services Friday 11:00 a.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc. COOPER, Stephen Lee, Born March 26, 1962 in Tucson, died September 19, 1994 in West Covina, California. Survived by wife, Soledad Cooper of West Covina, CA; mother and father, Joan and Art Cooper of Tucson; three brothers, Rick Turner of Valencia, CA, Sunder Ramani of Valencia, CA, Greg Bowlin of Burbank, CA; uncle, Joe Billings of Tucson; two great uncles, Harold Billings of Victorville, CA, Richard Smith of Seal Beach, CA; great aunt, Joan Dancy of San Diego, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Steve’s parents moved to Glendale, CA when he was two years old. He graduated from Hoover High School in 1980 and then decided to be an electrician so he attended Trade Tech and Pasadena City College. In May of 1981 he went to work for U.S.C. and was there for almost 14 years. On December 19, 1987 in La Canada, CA he married Soledad and then bought their home in West Covina, CA. Steve was an avid sports fan, with each of his brothers he was either water skiing, snow skiing, going to almost all of the U.S.C. games (or betting on them), jogging 7 miles a day, and his favorite sport was playing 18 holes of golf. Chapel Services were held at Valley Funeral Home in Burbank, CA on September 27, 1994 of which over 500 friends and family attended. Services were performed by Rev. Roland Shorter. Eulogies were given by his three brothers, Rick Turner, Sunder Ramani, Greg Bowlin, Rogz Ramani, his boss Chuck O’Regan (Oh, you should have heard some of those stories). Steve will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Tucson next to his grandparents Joe and Dottie Billings. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, October 5, 1994, 11:00 a.m. Evergreen Cemetery, Eagles Section. Pallbearers will be Johnny Guy, John Saltzman, Andy Samples, Larry Evans, Chuck O’Regan, Tony Iavagnilio, and (alternate) Manny Ramirez. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY N. Oracle and W. Miracle Mile.

DUNN, Jane, 94, of Tucson, died Sunday, October 2, 1994. Survived by her husband, Riley of Tucson; sons, John Robert (Thelma) Prather, J. Ronald (Jana) Dunn; grandchildren, John Prather, Larry Prather, Gladys Prather; sister, Mamie Ray; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters. Funeral Service 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 1994 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

GONZALES, Arnulfo R. “Nufy’, 76, of Tucson, passed away October 3, 1994. Survived by wife, Lupe Gonzales; daughters, Cecilia (Jack) Maish and Brenda (Al) Jacobs; son, Albert (Tina) Gonzales; sisters, Amparo Burruel and Concha Gonzales; also survived by nine grandchildren, Jackie and Mark Maish, Paul, Gabriel, Stephen, Adrienne and Alissa Gonzales, Andy and Alex Jacobs. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 1994 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Thursday 9:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

KNUFF, Barbara J., 62, of Tucson, died Friday, September 30, 1994. Survived by sons, David Coleman, Michael Coleman and Kevin Coleman, all of Kansas City, MO, Brian Coleman of Phoenix; daughter, Alice Baker of Kansas City, MO; and eight grandchildren. Long time employee of Hughes Missile Systems Co. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Carondelet Hospice Services, 1802 W. St. Mary’s Rd., Tucson 85745. MCCOLLUM, Marie, 70, died October 1, 1994. Born November 21, 1923. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Col. Marvin Euell McCollum, Ret. U.S. Army; daughters, Frances (Chester) Hurt of Memphis, TN and Norma (James) McDonald of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren also survive. A longtime resident in Tucson, Mrs. McCollum was a published writer, avid reader, a member of the D.A.R., Writers Club, active in Davis Monthan Officers Wives Club and the Retired Officers Wives Club, an ardent history and student of Genealogy. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 4 with services at 7:00 p.m. at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, with Dr. David Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery Friday, October 7, 1994.

PRETZER, Alex, 85, of Tucson/Eloy, AZ, died Sunday, October 2, 1994. Mr. Pretzer was a rancher for many years. Survived by wife, Marilyn Pretzer; son, Norman L. (Pat) Pretzer of Pretzer Ranch, Eloy, AZ; two grandchildren, Steven Pretzer and Stephanie Pretzer; three great-grandchildren, Erica Pretzer, Jessica Pretzer and Jacob Pretzer; sisters, Marie of Prescott and Ann of Las Vegas, Nevada. ZEPEDA, Pablo, 91, of Tucson, passed away October 1, 1994. Preceded in death by wife, Sara Zepeda. Survived by daughter, Julia Riojas; sons, Paul, Vincent and Albert Zepeda; also survived by 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Zepeda was the owner/manager of the Central Shoe Shop for 40 years. Active member of the Masons, Mexican Lodge Pacifico. Founding member of the Mexican Chamber of Commerce, the Cananea Club, the Club Latino, former board member of the Alianza Hispanco-Americana. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 1994 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (Center Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Graveside services on Wednesday 9:00 a.m. at Holy Hope Cemetery. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

BANNASCH, Dick, 60, a resident of Tucson since 1977, died at his home on Saturday, October 1, 1994 after a long illness. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, October 6 at 6:00 p.m. at Saint Francis in the Foothills, 4625 E. River Rd., Tucson. Contributions in Dick’s memory can be sent to Results, 236 Mass. BOYNTON, Frank E. Sr., of Carrollton, TX, former resident of Tucson, died Thursday, September 22, 1994. Mr. Boynton owned and operated “Frank Boynton’s Golf Shop’ for many years and was a favorite of many of the PGA players. Mr. Boynton is survived by his son, Frank E. Boynton Jr.; sisters, Nell Boynton of Carrollton and Polly Shaefer of Winter Haven, FL; brother, Bill Boynton of Tucson; and two grandchildren. No memorial service is scheduled.

BROWN, Calvin A., 86, of Tucson, died September 30, 1994. He retired from Marathon Oil as Assistant General Counsel at the home office in Findley, Ohio. Graduated from University of Michigan Law School. Longtime member of Rotary Clubs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Brown in 1993. Survived by many nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 6, 1994 11:00 a.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Friends may call one hour prior to service.

CARLSON, Alice E., 83, of Tucson, AZ, died October 3, 1994. Survived by husband, Carl E. Carlson of Tucson, AZ; brother, Herbert E. Johnson of Tucson, AZ; sister, Inez Weeden of Delavon, WI; one niece and three nephews residing in Wisconsin; and one grandniece. She was a member of Vasa Club of Tucson, AZ. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 1994 at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. @ Magee, with Rev. Dr. Henry Wooten officiating. CLEAVE, Caroline M., age 73, of Tucson, AZ died October 4, 1994. Survived by husband, Forrest H. Cleave, Tucson, AZ; daughters, Candace Wagner, Tucson, AZ, Caroline Maxwell, Greensboro, NC, Cynthia Hammond, Springfield, MO; and three grandchildren. Mrs. Cleave was a graduate of Stephens College in 1940 and the University of Arizona in 1942. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and the Patio Garden Club, both of Tucson. LABAYEN, Joyce M., 68, died October 3, 1994. Survived by husband, Vincent D.
