LUCAS, Carlos, 79, native Arizonian, passed away September 17, 1994. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margaret (Margie) Lucas; daughters, Aggie (Richard) Pena, Ginger (Arnold) Orozco, Gloria Lucas; sons, Carlos (Pat) Lucas Jr., Eddie (Sylvia) Lucas; sisters, Nellie Martinez, Lupe (Arnulfo) Gonzales; brother, Albert (Rosemary) Lucas. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Mr. Lucas was retired from PFE and a member of American Legion Post #68 and the V.F.W. He was also a member of the Latin American Social Club. He is loved by his many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 1994, from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Augustine Cathedral. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. COWAN, Edward, DDS, of Tucson, AZ, passed away September 16, 1994. Dr. Cowan attended the University of Connecticut and was a graduate of the University of Iowa Dental School as LT. J. G. He was stationed at the hospital in Iwo Jima, Guam and other areas in the South Pacific. Upon his return from the South Pacific he served as an Oral Surgeon at the Corral Gables, Florida VA Hospital. Before his retirement he practiced dentistry in Hartford, Connecticut and Staunton, Virginia. He is survived by two sisters, Minna Krutt-Kabatznick of West Hartford, CT and Dorothy Newhouse of Del Rey Beach, Florida and West Orange, New Jersey; also survived by one nephew and three nieces. DUVA, William J., born December 2, 1919 in Flint, MI, died September 16, 1994 at the Carondelet Hospice Unit in Tucson, AZ. He is survived by his wife, Janet Duva; and his four children, David Duva of CA, Nancy Shelley of Yuma, Steve Duva of OR and Linda Malmquist of MN; one cousin, Jane Minchinton of San Diego. Mr. Duva retired from the University Medical Center Shipping and Receiving Dept. in 1984. Private services were held at his home with close friends and relatives with Rev. Bruce Turner officiating. GORDON, E.P. “Bud’, 73, born in White Hall, NY, and a resident of Tucson since 1949, passed away September 18, 1994. Husband of Julia M. Gordon; father of Bruce A. Gordon of NM; Patricia A. Anderson and Deborah J. Farrell of IA; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Leroy and Ray Gordon, both of White Hall, NY. Bud served in the U.S. Marines during World War II in the South Pacific. Bud was a past president of the Tucson Breakfast Lions Club and Tucson Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was a former member of the Pima County Parks and Recreation, honorary Tombstone Marshall, member of V.F.W. Post #549, charter member of the East side B.P.O. Elks. Bud was a co-founder of the Tucson Office Supply and manager of the Arizona Photo Center until his retirement in 1983. JOHNSON, Henry Arthur, born April 12, 1904 in Sweden, died September 18, 1994. RUNKLE, Albert D., was born July 31, 1907 in Bisbee, AZ and died September 16, 1994. He grew up and attended school in Douglas, AZ and later attended the University of Arizona. Mr. Runkle served in World War II as 1st Lieutenant and later as Captain in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army. After WWII, Mr. Runkle worked as a free lance cameraman for major newsreels, motion pictures, U of A, and documentaries under his own name. He is survived by his wife, Freda W. Runkle. Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 1994 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. In lieu of flowers please send any remembrance to the American Cancer Society.
SCHUMAKER, David W., 76, a native Tucsonan, passed away September 16, 1994. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen in May 1993. SKINNER, Margaret H., 95, died September 17, 1994 in Tucson, Arizona. Survived by her daughter, Joanne Von Blon and her husband, Philip; granddaughters, Margaret Wurtele and her husband, Angus; Martha Meyer-Von Blon and her husband, Thomas Meyer; and four great-grandsons.
