HUGHES, Rev. Msgr. Don H., 88 of Tucson, died September 14, 1994. He is survived by brother, Dr. Thomas Joseph Hughes of Tempe; sister, Martha Joyce of Boise, ID; stepbrother, Thane Read of Prescott. Msgr. Hughes was the founding pastor of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and was active in many other projects in the Diocese of Tucson and with the Catholic Church in the U.S. He was a founding member of the Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Tucson and a founding member of the Serra International Club of Tucson and the club’s former chaplain. Mass of the Resurrection will be held Monday 9:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church and will be concelebrated by the Most Rev. Manuel D. Moreno, Bishop of Tucson and priests of the Diocese of Tucson. Interment will follow in Holy Hope Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 6:30 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ambrose Church. Memorial donations can be made to the Magr. Don H. Hughes Seminarian Burse, c/o the Diocese of Tucson, P.O. Box 31, Tucson, AZ 85702. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY.

NUNEZ, Ramon G., passed away at his home on September, 15, 1994 after a long illness. Mr. Nunez was born on December 9, 1903, at Buenos Aires Ranch, Sasabe, Arizona. He was preceded in death by beloved wife of 63 years, Mary F. Nunez. Survived by sons, Ernesto R. (Eva) of Houston, TX, and Raymond (Yvonne); daughter, Rosie N. (Richard) McQueen; granddaughter, Anna Nunez, grandsons, Alfredo, Gabriel, Patrick, Adrian, Marc, Christopher, Nicholas Nunez, Richard and Paul McQueen; and eight great-grandchildren; brother, Guillermo Nunez and many beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 1994 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at St. Margarets’s Church, 801 N. Grande with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Monday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Church. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

PELTIER, Lorraine I, Walker, 26, former resident of Tucson, AZ, resided in Kingston, Michigan. She was born December 4, 1967, Tucson, AZ. Miss Walker Peltier died Friday, September 2, 1994 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Kingston, MI. She is survived by her husband, Randy Peltier; sons, Randy II and Charlie; parents, Oliver and Irene Walker of Tucson, AZ; brothers, Larry (Debbie) Walker of Lavernia, TX, Martin and Douglas Walker, both of Tucson, AZ; sisters, Vicky (Mike) Hester of Round Rock, TX and Becky (Aaron) Cohen of Tucson, AZ and Marilyn (Roy) Wilbur of Tucson, AZ. Funeral Services were September 8, 1994 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.

WESTFALL, Jane, 57, of San Manuel, died September 15, 1994. Survived by husband, Philip Westfall of San Manuel; children Gail C. (Jim) Long of San Manuel; Theodore R. Clark of Omaha, NE, Maxine J. (Chuck) Munoz of Lafayette, CO, Karen A. (Marty) Bothwell of Onarga, IL, Rhonda L. Owings of San Manuel, Vicky F. (Matt) Gross and Philip E. Westfall, both of Altus, AFB, OK; grandchildren, Brian, Stacey, Teddy, Christopher, Bryce, Marty, Craig, Skylre, Devin, Morgan, Niki, Andrew. Services Monday 11:00 a.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, with Pastor David Hall of First Baptist Church, San Manuel officiating. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY and CEMETERY, N. Oracle and W. Miracle Mile.

WHITNEY, Elsie Irene, of Tucson Estates, died Saturday A.M. September 10, 1994. Her husband John preceded her four years earlier. Elsie is survived by her three children, Ida Polaski of Tucson, AZ, Joan Askelin of Prosser, WA and John Whitney, Jr. of Scottsdale, AZ. Elsie has 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. No services will be held.

CHACON, Manuel Lujan, Sr., 86, of Tucson, passed away Thursday, September 15, 1994. He was born in Morenci, Arizona in 1908. Mr. Chacon retired in 1976 from the Magma Copper Company where he was a Supervisor of Pipefitters. He is survived by five children from his first marriage, Manuel Jr., Frank, Beatrice Chacon Vallado, Lydia Chacon Estreda and Connie Chacon Christopher. Their mother, Julia, is deceased. Manuel is also survived by seven children from his marriage to Eufima; Priscilla Chacon, Samuel, Cecilia Chacon Smith, Federico, Edmundo, Alfredo, and Louis Chacon. Other survivors include his sister, Antonia Sanchez; and more than one hundred grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Friends may call at ARIZONA MORTUARY, 7 East University Blvd, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, September 17. Further services for Mr. Chacon will be held in Silver City, New Mexico, with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home and a Mass at 10:00 a.m., Monday at St. Vincent de Paul’s Catholic Church, followed by interment in St. Vincent de Paul’s Cemetery in Silver City.

COLE, Stanley M., 41, of Tucson, passed away September 12, 1994. Survived by mother, Mrs. Jewella Cole of Tucson. Stanley was an outstanding basketball player at Tucson Sr. High School. A visitation will be held Sunday, September 18, 1994 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at ARIZONA MORTUARY, 7 E. University Blvd. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 19, 1994 at Trinity Baptist Church, 1402 N. El Rio Drive, with The Rev. Elwood McDowell officiating. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

DAUGHTREY, Harry McCullough, a resident of Tucson since 1961, Mr. Daughtrey was born in Robinsonville (Waco), Texas on February 1, 1898, and went to be with the Lord on September 14, 1994. He and his surviving spouse, Edith Guttzeit Daughtrey, were married on June 29, 1933, and they lived in Evanston, Illinois for many years before retiring in Tucson. Mr. Daughtrey was a partner with Mrs. Daughtrey and President of Martin Company of Chicago, a marketing device manufacturer. Mr. Daughtrey attended Texas AandM and went into the Navy during World War I, taking training at Great Lakes Navy Station and then at Harvard University. He later studied at Northwestern University. Mr. Daughtrey joined the Chicago Rotary in 1943 and was a Senior Active Member. He was a member of the Shrine, Medina Temple, and then transferred to Tucson and became a Charter Member of Sabbar Temple. Mr. Daughtrey along with Mrs. Daughtrey were members of the University of Arizona President’s Club and established a scholarship fund for the blind there. Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan has been the beneficiary of Mr. and Mrs. Daughtrey’s philanthropy and the new Arts Building on campus has two rooms named in their honor. The Cal Farley Boys’ Ranch in Amarillo, Texas, has also been the recipient of their philanthropy. Mr. Daughtrey was a member of Skyline Country Club and recorded six Holes in One. At the request of Mr. Daughtrey there will be no funeral services. Local arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway).

MCCORMICK, Glen William Brascugli, 11, died September 13, 1994 in Mark Twain Hospital in San Andreas after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle in Murphys, CA. He was a native of Petaluma, CA and a resident of Murphys for 2 years. He was currently a 6th grader at Avery Middle School in Avery. He was a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop #343 in Murphys. He played soccer for the “Foothill Flooring Rugrats’ soccer team in Murphys, he was an award winning swimmer, he played on the “Sierra Slammers’ Baseball Team in Murphys, he loved the outdoors, hiking and exploring. He was an animal lover. Glen was asked by his 6th grade teacher recently what “5 things he wondered about’ as an assignment. They were “The way that the sun comes up, the way the moon comes up, and the way the stars come up, why does the earth rotate, what made the oceans?’ We think he knows the answer now! He is our star in the sky. Survived by mother and stepfather, Beth and Michael Hirsch of Murphys; father and stepmother, Lyle and Tilly McCormick of Sonoma, CA; brother, Derek McCormick of Murphys; stepsister, Emma Ziegler of Sonoma, CA; grandparents, William and Suzanne Brascugli of St. Cloud, MN, Mary Brascugli and Milton Schick of Tucson, AZ, Jim and Carrol McCormick of Petaluma, CA, Dave and Norma Palmer of Tucson, AZ. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 18, 1994 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Angels Memorial Chapel, Angels Camp. A Memorial Gathering will be held following visitation at 2:30 p.m. at the Murphys Park on Algiers Street in Murphys. Memorial Donations in Glen’s memory may be made to Boy Scouts of America Troop #343, P.O. Box 1968, Murphys, CA 95247.

MOLINA, Luisa Navarette, 90, of Tucson, passed away September 16, 1994. Survived by daughters, Tillie Valle, Molly (Raul) Miranda, Mary (John) Alvarez, and Josie Vasquez; sons, Elias (Elvia) Molina; sister, Armida Contreras; brother, Armando Navarette. Also survived by 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 18, 1994 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, South Chapel, 240 South Stone Ave. with Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be offered Monday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Cyril’s Church. OLSON, Marie E., 77, died September 14, 1994. Survived by her husband, Henry Olson of Tucson; sisters, Claire Thompson of CA, Anna Meyer of MN, Regine Hartnet of PA, Jenette Selinske of MN; brothers, Henry and Andrew Mueller, both of MN. Also survived by 35 nieces and nephews. Mrs. Olson was an Army Veteran of WWII, as Operation Dispatcher for the Air Transport Command. She was a life member of the D.A.V. Cactus Chapter #2. ORTIZ, Gerardo Dino, 22, of Tucson, passed away September 15, 1994. Survived by parents, Armando and Eva Ortiz; grandparents, Angel and Alecia Gonzales; sister, Elsa (Manuel) Larrinaga; brother, Armando Ortiz Jr.; nieces, Elizabeth and Leiliannia Ortiz; nephews, Andres Larrinaga; Alfonso, Angelo, and Aramgo Ortiz. Also survived by many beloved uncles, and aunts. SKOUBIS, Bessie E., 67, of Phoenix, AZ, died September 14, 1994. Mrs. Skoubis owned and operated The Picacho Hotel and Restaurant. Survived by her husband, Evangelos K. Skoubis; son, George E.; sister, Helen Kyriakidis; brothers, Peter and Cris Karitisd; two grandchildren. WAGNER, Tomasa “Tommie’ V. A resident of Tucson for over 50 years, she went to be with Lord September 15, 1994 in Tucson at the age of 86. Born July 28, 1908 in Needles, CA. Mrs. Wagner was a longtime member of Kachina T.O.P.S. Preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert J. Wagner. Beloved mother of Margarite Meltzer, Manuel (Wanda) Leyva of CA, Dolores (Lynn) Geuder; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren. DIAZ, Adolfo Francisco, passed away on September 16, 1994. Adolfo served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Adolfo graduated from the U of A School of Pharmacy in 1962 and was a member of Phi Delta Chi Fraternity. He was employed the past 25 years by Walgreens as a Pharmacist. Adolfo was president of the Tucson Academy of Pharmacy in 1980 and was an active member in the Arizona Pharmaceutical Association. Adolfo is survived by Susie, his wife of 41 years; his four children, Cynthia Martinez of Tucson, Teri Melendez (Hector) of Tucson, Frank Diaz (Sheila) of Mesa, AZ; Michael Diaz (Kathy) of San Diego, CA; and his sister, Ann Avalos (John) of Modesto, CA. Adolfo is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Melissa Martinez, Cassandra and Tom Melendez, Nathan and Lauren Diaz, Roi Stover, Melanie, Justin, and Jason Diaz. Adolfo will be greatly missed by all of his extended family and friends who have offered their love and support throughout his difficult illness. GIBSON, Genevra B., 92, of Tucson, died Friday, September 16, 1994. Miss Genevra Bush Gibson was born on October 12, 1901, in Sheldon, Illinois, to Doctor and Mrs. Horace Gibson. She graduated in 1919, from Sheldon High School. In 1924, Genevra graduated from the University of Illinois, where she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Gamma Delta, Theta Sigma Phi and the Womans Editor of the Daily Illini, during her senior year. In 1940, for health reasons, she gave up her teaching position at Champaign High School, in Champaign, Illinois, where she taught journalism and supervised the weekly school newspaper and the yearbook, and returned to Sheldon to live with her Aunt and Uncle Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Dowell. She served as the publicity chairman of the Iroquois County, Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross during World War II. She also served six years on the Sheldon Township Public Library, being a member of the book committee. Since September 1960, Genevra made her home with Mrs. Marie L. Spencer and Miss Diane Spencer, first in Watseka, Illinois and since 1966 in Tucson, Arizona, where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and White Shrine. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, with Funeral Services following at 11:00 a.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd., Tucson, AZ. Interment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, Tucson, AZ.

KUSKA, Lena M., 92, died September 17, 1994. Survived by her sister, Ida Conti of Tucson. Preceded in death by her husband, Emil Kuska. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 1994. A Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, September 22, 1994 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Rd. Interment will take place in Bronx, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Mother of Sorrows Church.
