FIELDMAN, J. Harry. In loving memory of J. Harry Fieldman, his given name was Joshua Hanford Fieldman, died July 31, 1994 at his residence in Las Vegas, NV. Mr. Fieldman was born in New Haven, CT on February 23, 1905. He lived in Tucson, AZ for 28 years before moving to Las Vegas in 1980 to be near his son Ray and family, after the loss of his wife Pauline. He was retired from the mining business after 30 years of operations in the U.S. and Mexico. He is survived by three sons, Ray of Las Vegas, Dan Ivan of Jupiter, FL and Paul Victor of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Kay Ellen Johnson of Jacksonville, FL; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia Present of Las Vegas. At his request no services will be held. His ashes will be scattered over his wife’s in Tucson, AZ by his children. NEVADA CREMATION and BURIAL SOCIETY is handling arrangements.

KUCHENBERG, John R., Retired USAF, MSgt, passed away on August 3, 1994. John, a decorated Vietnam Veteran, is survived by beloved wife, Shirley of Benson, AZ, Mescal Lakes Area; daughters, Linda of San Diego, Cynthia Hogan of Tucson, Brenda of Mescal Lakes; grandson, Christopher Hogan of Tucson; sisters, Barbara York of WI, and Mary Cavadeous of FL. Services will be held in Sierra Vista at Fort Huachuca on Monday, August 8, 1994. Mourners are asked to meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Fort’s Window Support Center located at the main gate on Fry Blvd. A procession will proceed to the service and interment. ONTIVEROS, Miguel (Mike) Ontiveros, 63, died of an unexpected serious illness August 2, 1994 while in Las Vegas, doing what he loved most, playing in a golf tournament. Mike was born May 8, 1931 in Midvale, UT to Julian and Marcelina Ontiveros. He was raised in UT where he has many friends and dear family members. He earned his Bachelor degree at the University of Utah in 1963. Mike was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. He married his sweetheart Betty Laverna Beecroft in 1959. Mike was a civil servant for the U.S. Air Force. He and his family lived in WY, SD, TX and Germany before making their home in Tucson. At the time of his death, Mike had worked at D-M AFB for 19 years and has many close friends there. He loved golfing several times a week with his “golf buddies’ and also truly enjoyed golfing with his sons. He also enjoyed bowling and racquetball. Mike was very proud of his children. He sacrificed and worked hard to provide good opportunities for them. He was proud of each of them and their successes. He was looking forward to a long earned and carefully planned retirement with Betty. He is preceded in death by his parent, Julian and Marcelina Ontiveros and his sister, Margaret Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Betty; his sons, Mike of Midvale, UT, Kevin (Brenda) of Salt Lake City, UT, Randy (Tina) of Tucson; his daughter, Michelle; and his grandchildren, Isaac, Mark, Julian and Marcelina. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Lucy Saldivar, Clotilda (Tilly) Gomez, Manuel Ontiveros, Mary Gonzales, Andrew Ontiveros, Gloria Torres, Betty Gomez and Jim Ontiveros. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 8, at the L.D.S. Rincon Stake Center, 1655 S. Melpomene Way, with Bishop Fred Heidenrich conducting. Interment to follow at TMP East Lawn. PAXTON, Catherine Beatrice, (Kit), 80, of Tucson, passed away August 4, 1994. Born April 25, 1914 in Elephant Butte, NM. Preceded in death by husband of 54 years, Douglas Clair Paxton in December 1990. Survived by children, Stephen Douglas of VT, David Roy of OR, Sherry Paxton Bergmark of TX; sister, Loretta Jane Kirkpatrick of Tucson; grandchildren, Casey and Ben Paxton, and George and Cathryn Bergmark. Kit was Valedictorian of her 1930 graduating class at Buckeye Union HS. She graduated from Arizona State Teacher’s College (Now ASU) in 1935 with a BA in English. She worked as a teacher, Secretary and Accountant. Kit taught 4th and 5th grade at Madison in Phoenix, worked for Arizona Power Company, Arizona Public Service, Tucson Bowling Corp. (Luckey Strike) and the Tucson Chamber of Commerce. Upon Retirement in 1971 she pursued her interests in education, and literacy, and became a founding member, Board Member, Treasurer, Vice President, President-Elect, President, Ex-Officio Board Member of Literacy Volunteers of Pima County. She used her background in Office Management and Accounting to assist LVA in setting up it’s computer system, and while she took great pride in her efforts to make LVA Pima County a viable entity, she more greatly enjoyed and valued her years of one-to-one friendships developed while tutoring. Kit will be remembered also, by family and friends for her love of gardening and her green, tranquil back yard. A Memorial Service will be held to honor Kit on Monday, August 8, 1994, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Philip’s in the Hills, Campbell Ave. at River Road, Tucson, Arizona. Flowers may be sent to the memorial service, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Literacy Volunteers of Pima County, or to Tucson Medical Center Hospice.

BRATAGER, Alvina, 90, of Phoenix, formerly of Tucson, died Tuesday, July 26, 1994. Survived by son, Arlen (Lila) Bratager of Rapid City, SD; half sisters, Cora, Clenora, Susie and Victoria; half brother, Harding; two grandchildren, Jeff and Kari; two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Elizabeth.
