To know Mary is to know love. She always gave to others before she met her own needs. Until the very end, she took care of us and gave her love. Mary had enough love to share with us all. MILKS, Richard J., Chief MSgt, USAF Ret., 74, died August 27, 1994. Born 1920 in Manchester, SD. He served 30 years in the U.S. Air Force and served in Japan, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Marcella; son, Richie of Tucson; daughters, Richelle (Don) Thompson of Wichita Falls, TX and Darcy (Dan) Miller of Hidden Valley, CA; sisters, Mary Clemo of Long Beach, CA, Dorothy (Tony) Hillstead of Grayson, LA and Beverly Meighen of Redondo Beach, CA. ROSSI, Donna, 61, Lord you have taken from this earth a very special girl. Donna was unselfish in her complete loving devotion. For her family she will be missed by husband, Donald and her three sons, Bernard and wife Karen, Robert, James and wife Wendi. Donna had a very special love for her grandchildren Jennifer and Zakary; sisters, Elaine Eagon and Lila Gunsaullaus. Donna and family moved to Oro Valley in 1973 from Lake Forest, IL. She became active in Real Estate. Her Knowledge and complete honesty with people made her very successful. Donna was fun loving. BERNAL, Raymond, 73, of Tucson, passed away August 28, 1994. Survived by daughters, Margaret A. (Richard) Hickey; Norma J. (James) Deskus; Lydia R. (Gary) Wiese; and Gloria I. (Paul) Foreman; sisters, Eleanor Bernal; Lydia Quihuis; and Margaret Haggerty; brother, Ernest Bernal. Also survived by 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Bernal was a native Tucsonian. He retired from Lucky Stores after 30 years. He was a World War II Veteran. CRENNER, Grace Evelyn, 85, passed away August 28, 1994, longtime resident of Tucson. Born 1909 in Old Bridge, NJ. Preceded in death by husband, Raymond J. Crenner, longtime resident of Tucson. Survived by daughters, Doris Eckardt (Earl) of Arcadia, FL; Joan Nagy of East Brunswick, NJ; Marian Olchaskey (Frank) of Sayreville, NJ; Carol Weaver (John); and Sandra Childs (Richard) of Tucson; sister, Marion Mergaugey of South River, NJ; grandchildren, Linda, Donna, Tom, Joann, Francis, Diane, Dale, Candi, Michelle and Sheri; and 12 great-grandchildren. DOAN, Maurice Allen, age 87, was born August 5, 1907, in Gratiot County, Michigan, son of Sibyl and Clyde Doan. He passed away August 26, 1994. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Genevieve; son, Edward; daughter, Judith Diane Stephan; son-in-law, Ralph Stephan; five grandchildren; niece, Sue L. Sweeney of Tucson; and nephew, Willard S. Sweeney. Following high school, Maurice was employed for 19 years in the U. S. Department of Agriculture. From 1949 to retirement in 1969, he was Executive Secretary of the Michigan Bean Shippers Association. He belonged to the B.P.O.E. Lodge for many years. JONES, Ethel Mae, 96, of Marana, AZ, went to be with the Lord on August 28, 1994. She was born in Maybury, WV in 1898, moved to Tucson in 1931 and Marana in 1959. Preceded in death by husband of 67 years, Edward, in 1985. Ethel was the first born of three sisters and four brothers. Survived by one brother, Walter (Alistine) Westmoreland of Tucson; and two daughters, Juanita Page of Riverside, CA; and Patricia (Bob) Honea of Marana, AZ. She was blessed with five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She will be missed but not forgotten. Funeral Services 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 31, 1994 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park, with Rev. Sam Hall of Abiding in Christ Fellowship of the Nazarene officiating. KRAVATH, Mary Doyle, 81, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 27, 1994. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Captain Fred F. Kravath, U.S. Navy, Retired. Born in Colton, NY on July 28, 1913. She graduated from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA in 1935 with a B.S. degree in Home Economics. She also studied French at the Sorbonne in Paris. Mrs. Kravath worked as a home lighting advisor for Delaware Power and Light Company and a home lighting consultant for Panama Power and Light Company. As a military wife she lived in and travelled through most European countries, Panama, Puerto Rico, and all of the Latin American countries from Panama to the U.S. She dedicated herself “lock, stock, and barrel’ to the advancement and success of her husband’s career and welfare. Loyalty, love, self-effacement mixed with wit and quiet courage were hallmarks of her character. Trina received her bachelor’s degree in 1989 and her master’s degree in 1991 from the University of Arizona. Sturges which ended in divorce. married Eloise Walker Terry who is deceased. married Socorro Leon Ortiz who is deceased. Survived by son, Robert Edgar Barrett; niece whom he raised, Patsy Jean Autry Cook; grandchildren, Timothy R. Barrett, Matthew R. Barrett, David R. Barrett and Elizabeth Barrett Montoya; step-children, Tyler Terry, Richard Ortiz, Margarita Echanove; two great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren also survive. COWAN, Boyd Otis, 80, peacefully entered the hereafter on August 4, 1994 at his home and in the loving company of his family. Mr. Cowan was born July 1, 1914 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to the late Arthur and Mary Cowan. In 1943. Mr. Cowan enlisted in the Army, serving in the 101st Airborne, Paratrooper Division in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Cowan jumped into Tokyo five days before the signing of the peace accords and the surrender by the Japanese. He participated in the liberation of the Death Camps in the Philippines. Both before and after the war, Mr. Cowan worked as a newspaperman and loved every minute of it. Mr. Cowan was the manager of the Texas City (Texas) Daily Sun, the Advertising Manager of the Cushing (Oklahoma) Daily Citizen and the Manager of the Great Bend (Kansas) Herald. But in the early 1950's, the lure of the then-revolutionary medium known as television became irresistible. In 1953, Mr. Cowan founded the first NBC affiliate station in Great Bend, Kansas. In 1956 he moved to Tucson to become General Manager of KVOA, Channel 4. Mr. Cowan retired after 20 years of service with the New York Life Insurance Company in 1977. Mr. Cowan was a lay-reader in the Episcopal Church for nearly 20 years. While living in Kansas, he `rode the circuit’, conducting services throughout the rural countryside. In Tucson he conducted services for elementary-aged children at St. Philips in the Hills. He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him, but most especially by his dear friend Howard Earl; his daughters, Carmen and Margo and his son Mike and by their spouses, Antonio, Lois and Becky; and by his grandchildren, David, Antonio, Otis, Adam, Carlitos, Julia and Pepe; and by his sisters-in-law, Susie and Maudie Mae Cowan; and by his mother-in-law, Ruth Appleton; and his brothers-in-law, Wayne, Allan and George Appleton. A Memorial Service, in celebration of Mr. Cowan’s full life, will be held on August 10, 1994 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Philip’s in the Hills Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
