FLYNN, James C., passed away September 3, 1994 in Tucson at the age of 48. Born February 13, 1946 and raised in Grand Canyon, AZ. Graduate of N.A.U., Flagstaff, AZ. Worked in various positions for Mining Companies in U.S. and Mexico. Preceded in death by father, Clifford C. Flynn. Survived by wife, Maria Socorro; children, Ricardo, Anais, Nicholas of Flagstaff, AZ, and Candace of Ladella, CA; five stepchildren, David, Paty, Fernando, Daniel and Arturo Camacho; mother, Theda Flynn and sister, Maureen S. Flynn, both of St. George, UT. Funeral Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to TMC Hospice Services, 5301 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ 85712. HOLDER, Nancy Marie, 44, of Tucson, formerly of Seattle, sailed into God’s glory Saturday, September 3, 1994. She is survived by her life partner, Patty Black and daughter, Jennifer Black; parents, George and Loreen Holder of Spokane, WA; brother, Gordon and two nephews of Auburn, WA; her aunt, Renee of HI; her aunt, Ruth of Spokane, WA; and large number of friends in Tucson and Seattle. Nancy was an active member of St. Frances in the Foothills Church and Desert Voices. Her work in human services included ACCM, Elizabeth Kubler-Ross Workshops, and work with the homeless population at the Lutheran Compass Center in Seattle, before moving with her family to Tucson. Visitation will be held at the DESERT ROSE CREMATION and BURIAL, 2750 S. 4th Ave., from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, and 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m., at St. Frances in the Foothills Church, Swan and River Rd. A Memorial Fund has been established through the RCP Program at St. Frances in the Foothills Church. Arrangements by DESERT ROSE CREMATION and BURIAL.

HOWREN, Robert Conrad “Skeeter’, 75, passed away September 4, 1994. Preceded in death by his wife, Cecelia. Survived by his daughter, Kathryn Blair (John) Ryan of Eugene, OR; stepchildren, Steven Berg of Cape Canaveral, FL, Diane (Rob) Berreth of Molalla, OR, Robert (Leslie) Berg of MI; seven grandchildren. He was a life long friend of John and Linda Douglas of Tucson, AZ. Robert was a WWII POW, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Eagles, and the VFW. He was a retired Mechanical Fluid Engineer for the Martin Marietta Corporation. He will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. Services and interment will be private. May the road rise with you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rains fall soft upon your fields. MILLER, Illa P., 79, died September 5, 1994. Survived by her children, Ted (Kathi) Miller of CA, Pennie (Don) Westhof and Roanne Miller, all of Tucson; daughter-in-law, Mildred Miller of Tucson; brother-in-law, Larry Miller of St. David; sisters, Armissa Bennedum of Green Valley, Belva Danforth of Tucson, Delsa Gilette of CO; brothers, Curtis Plumb of Tucson and Albert Plumb of MO; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Willard M. and son, Donald W. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 1994 at the L.D.S. Ft. Lowell Ward, 3700 E. Ft. Lowell Rd., with Bishop Dean Abegg conducting. Interment to follow at TMP East Lawn. MURPHY, John F., 65 years old, died Tuesday, September 6, 1994 in Tucson. Survived by his wife, Veronica Murphy of Tucson; three daughters, Teresa Murphy, Lori Jerrick, and Kathleen Murphy, all of Tucson; son, Peter Murphy with the Marines in California; one grandchild. Mass will be said at 8:30 a.m. Friday, September 9, 1994 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7651 E. Pima. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 8, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, 881-0338, where Vigil Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery.

RASNAKE, Rene’e M., 30, of Tucson, died September 4, 1994. Survived by parents, Allen and Anita Rasnake; brothers, Allen “Randy’, Daniel, Adam and Christopher Rasnake; grandparents, Donald and Joan Wagler all of Tucson, and Edna T. Rasnake of Bucyrus, OH. Memorial Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, at St. Cyril Church, 4725 E. SCHNEIDER, Albert, born 1918, died peacefully Sunday, September 4, 1994. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; three daughters, Marilyn Day, Melanie Clark, of Tucson, and Alene Schneider of Tempe; three granddaughters, Jenifer Adams of Tucson, Jeri and Marie Day of IN; two grandson, Greg and Glen Schneider, both of TX; and a great-grandson, George Adams of Tucson. Mr. Schneider’s career consisted primarily of Radio Station Management and Advertising, Broadcasting, Author and Instructor. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to St. Mary’s Hospice, 1601 W. St. Mary’s Rd., Tucson 85745. WELTON, Donald O., 90, died August 31, 1994. Survived by his wife, Margaret Welton of Tucson; daughter, Donna (Edward) Roll of Tucson; grandchildren, Sally (Guy) Freeman of TX, and Margaret (George) Gallardo of Tucson; great-grandchildren, Stacy, Lauren, Connie, Ana and Jaclyn; sister, Esther Gay of KS. Mr. Welton successfully practiced law in Southern California for 60 years, retiring from active practice five years ago. Family suggest donations to the Handmakers Hospice, 2221 N. BISHOP, Russell G., 29, formerly of Tucson, died September 5, 1994 in Florence, Colorado. Survived by parents, Robert D. Bishop and Pat Bishop of Tucson; brothers, Richard of Bonita, AZ, Ronald (Janie) and Rob (Sharlotte) of Tucson. CHARLIP, Harlan “Holly’ Perry, 35, died September 4, 1994. Beloved son of Dorothea and the late Jack E. Charlip, brother of Linda of Tucson and Ralph (Cynthia) of El Paso, TX. Also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins in California and Michigan, and many special friends at ATPT-Tucson and the Blake Foundation. Graveside service will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blake Foundation.

KINKEL, Eileen, passed away on Monday, September 5, 1994. Survived by her loving children, Diane and Deborah Kinkel, both of Colorado Springs, CO; granddaughter, Nicole Ashley Kinkel; dear mother, Elizabeth Fowler; and sister, Jane Fowler, both of Long Island, NY; dear friends, Marjorie, Tom and Bob. LOCKHART, Hazel, 83, passed away August 30, 1994 in Yucaipa, CA. She recently moved back to California where she lived for 30 years before moving to Tucson, AZ 4 1/2 years ago. She was preceded in death by husband, Aubrey Lockhart in 1965. A Memorial Service was held in Yucaipa on September 1, where cremation took place and interment was at Live Oak Memorial Park, Monrovia, CA. She is survived by three daughters, Audrey (Wynn) Howard of Chicago, IL, Patricia (Dennis) Blanton of Tucson, and Alberta (Ron) Gehrett of Moreno Valley, CA; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

MALONE, Alice E., 78, of Tucson, died Friday, September 2, 1994. Survived by her adoring husband, John; loving children, Jane (Tom) Kereny, Judi (Rene) Montcalm, Jim Malone; beloved grandchildren, Monique, Michelle, Kevin, Tim, Theresa, Cindy, John; and loving sister, Margaret Graham. MARCZAK, Theodore S., 89, a resident of Tucson, died September 6, 1994. Preceded in death by his wife, Florentine. Survived by daughter, Florentine Ruesga; son, William T. Marczak, both of Tucson; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Marczak was born September 13, 1904 in Poland and was a member of Aaron Lodge #49, F.and A.M., Scotish Rite, the Old Polish Club and the Elks Lodge and had worked for Hughes Aircraft. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Wolfsen and his wife, Valerie for the love and care given Mr. Marczak. Funeral Service 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 9 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S. Park Ave. Interment South Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit the Mortuary from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday. MARKS, Albert R., 73, died Monday, September 5, 1994. Tucson resident for the past 33 years from Ohio. Survived by his wife, Helen M. Marks of Tucson; daughter, Dawn Marks Conner; and two granddaughters, Staci and Melissa Conner of Austin, TX. The family of Albert Marks wishes to thank the Staff on the West Wing for the special care given to Mr. Marks while he was a resident of Catalina Care Center. There will be no public services. MATYI, Mary Adell, 73, of Tucson, died Monday, September 5, 1994. Lovingly survived by husband, John J.; sons, John L. (Sandy) of Denver CO, and Timothy (Elaine) of Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Mary Sue of Tucson; grandsons, John, Mark, David and Peter. Mary was born in Minneapolis, MN where she served as church organist for 30 years. Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 1994 at Dove of Peach Lutheran Church, intersection of Oracle and Roller Coaster Rds. Memorials preferred to Dove of Peace Lutheran Church or Muscular Dystrophy Association.

SCOTT, Merial A., 83, died Sunday, September 4, 1994. Her life’s journey took her from her native Kansas City, KS to Little Rock, AK and to Ft. Stockton, TX before coming to Arizona during the summer of 1916 when she was five years old. Her family operated a cleaning and tailor ship in Miami, AZ before moving to Tucson in 1920 to establish the Snow Cleaners, operating three branches. Merial attended Miles Elementary, Roskruge Junior High and Tucson Senior High Schools. In the early 1930's she married J. P. Scott who operated the Tombstone Drug Store in Tombstone, AZ. After she completed pharmacy school, she and her husband opened the Scott Drug Store (1938) at Speedway and Country Club. In 1947 they opened Scott Drug at North Stone Avenue and Ft. Lowell. Mr. Scott died in 1948. In the following years Merial Scott worked for the Consumers Drug Store, Santa Rita Drug Store, Cactus Pharmacy, Empire Drug Store and Medical Arts Pharmacy. In the late 1950s Mrs. Scott left the pharmacy field to take on challenges of a new career in construction. Known to many as “Scotty’ from the Peter L. Cooper Company, she earned the respect of many contractors and construction workers. She was a former Arizona Trap Shoot champion, an artist, sculptor, pharmacist and construction estimator. Her many shared experiences of early post frontier life in southern Arizona and of the people she knew in the 1920s, 30s and 40s will be remembered by all who knew her. Mrs. Scott is survived by a son, John; a granddaughter, Shaeli and a great-grandson, Marcus; a niece, Janet K. Rothe and a nephew, William Rothe. There will be no public services. Remembrances may be made to the Salvation Army. Arrangements by ARIZONA MORTUARY.

SPEARMAN, Johnnie James, Senior Master Sergeant, Ret., 74, died September 7, 1994. Survived by wife, Valorie I. Spearman of Tucson; children, Yvonne Cottier of Seattle, WA, Johnnie James Spearman, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Carol Pielli, Franklin and Ted Spearman, all of Spokane, WA; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Earl and Glenn Spearman; sisters, Letha Mae Metcalf and Alda Faye Childers, all of Kings Mountain, NC. “He loved and he was loved.’ Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 9, 1994 at El Camino Baptist Church, 7777 E. Speedway. Further Services and burial will be in Spokane, WA. Contributions may be made to El Camino Baptist Church or the St. Joseph’s Hospice. FORREST, Arthur Jr., 43, of Tucson, passed away September 5, 1994. Survived by mother, Catalina Forrest of Douglas; sisters, Yvonne (Roger) Worley and Yolanda (Felix) Yanez, both of Tucson; brother, Hector Forrest of Phoenix; nieces, Yvette and Ylyssa Worley, Annette Yanez and Alexis Garcia; nephews, Mark and Chris Yanez. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 9, 1994 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Saturday, 9:00 a.m., at St. Augustine’s Cathedral. Interment will follow at Holy Hope Cemetery.
