CONE, Mary Bryan Reid, 61, of Tucson, died Many 21, 1994 at her home after a sudden illness. She was born in Whitakers, North Carolina and graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina with a degree in Music in 1954. She moved to Tucson in 1984. Throughout her life she sang in several music groups and participated in several theatre productions. Music brought great joy to her and she most recently was choir director at Evangelical Covenant Church in Tucson. She was a member of the University of Arizona Community Chorus and formerly of the Desert Airs. While living in Tucson, she served as a co-facilitator of a divorce recovery group and was involved in a local investment club. She is survived by her children, Lee Cone of St. Joseph, MO, Teri Carrion of Eagleville, PA and Rex Cone of Columbia, MO. She is also survived by two brothers, James Reid of Rocky Mount, NC and Robert Reid of Charlotte, NC. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, May 25, 1994 at 4:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 551 N. Camino Seco, Tucson with Reverend Bruce Finfrock officiating. MCCARTHY, Maurice H., “Mickey’, 71, of Tucson, AZ, died Tuesday, August 2, 1994 after a long struggle with prostate cancer. Remembered as a loving husband and father. Mickey worked for 38 years as a State Farm Agent in Tucson. A member of the Board of The Alcoholism Council of Tucson for seven years and generous benefactor of The Haven (Tucson’s center for women seeking recovery), Mickey gave generously of his time and money in order to help others free themselves from substance abuse. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria; his children, Guy of Tempe, AZ, Greg of Sierra Vista, AZ, Kathleen of Phoenix, AZ, Barbara of Orlando, FL, Gary of Sacramento, CA, and Daniel of Tucson, AZ; and his grandchildren, Brandon, Jared, Christopher, Bethany, Cathleen, Amber, and Brittany. O’BANNON, Mildred Brown; born August 1, 1919 in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA, died on August 1, 1994 in Tucson, AZ. She and her husband, Frank C. O’Bannon, Jr., Lt. Colonel USAF Retired, had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October of 1993. Over the course of their married years, Millie was a stalwart officer’s wife, following Frank to various parts of the world, setting up a new household and making new friends in more than 20 different locations. Millie was a friend to thousands. Millie’s many activities included membership in the Air Force Officers’ Wives Clubs, and she served as President of the Officers’ Wives Club in Youngstown, OH. Additionally, Millie was a Grey Lady in the ARC, President of the Bell Gardens Community Center, Bell Gardens, CA, Church Secretary at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Hollywood, CA, and Secretary to the Cruising Fleet King Harbor Yacht Club at Redondo Beach, CA. Over the course of the years, Millie provided Frank backing and support in forming and organizing the 461st Bomb Group and their annual reunions, and recently provided similar support with the Sons of the American Revolution. Millie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Barbara, Tom (Leslie), and David (Christina); and her grandchildren, Tracy and Andy; as well as family, friends, and acquaintances too numerous to mention. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. on August 13, 1994 at George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting, PA. SWENSON, Harold O. “Hal’, 81, died at home August 2, 1994. Resident of Tucson for over 40 years. Worked as a carpet installer and was an avid bowler. He attended Catalina Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois. Survived by his four daughters, Patte Wylie of OH, Dotte Boettger of RI, Pamela Andrews and Vickie Koch, both of Tucson, and their husbands; 15 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.
