PADILLA, Loretta “Luly’, 66, of Amado, passed away May 24, 1994. Survived by husband, Manuel Padilla; daughters, Elvia Padilla and Maria Soto; sons, Francisco Flores, Ramon Padilla and Trinidia Florez; sisters, Juanita Babichi and Consuelo Babichi; brothers, Angel, Jose, Francisco and Refugio Babichi; also survived by 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 1994 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at TUCSON MORTUARY (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Avenue with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Friday, 9:00 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Cathedral. Interment at Holy Hope Cemetery.

PATTERSON, Connie E., 49, died May 22, 1994. Survived by her husband, Tom Patterson; her children, Rebecca Kahn and Jennifer Patterson, all of Tucson; mother, Janet Kesner; sister, Cathie Backus; brothers, David, Corry and Phillip Kesner, all of WA. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 26 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL with interment to follow at TMP, East Lawn. STARR, Mary Lou, former Tucson resident, born in 1935 in Yuma, AZ, died May 22, 1994 in Orange County, CA. Survived by her husband, Ed Starr of CA; her daughter, Laura Buck and her son Steven Clark, both of Denver, CO; and her brother, Dr. John L. Barringer of OR. No flowers by request. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

WATKINS, Phyllis A., 75, a resident of Tucson, died May 23, 1994. Survived by husband, Arthur; two nieces and two nephews. Memorial service 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 1994 at Tucson Estates Chapel. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

BRECHEEN, Janet W., 79, of Tucson, died May 22, 1994. Survived by her husband, Wilburn; and niece, Geraldine Kamareth of WI. Funeral Services will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1949 E. CONE, Mary Bryan Reid, 61, of Tucson, died Many 21, 1994 at her home after a sudden illness. She was born in Whitakers, North Carolina and graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina with a degree in Music in 1954. She moved to Tucson in 1984. Throughout her life she sang in several music groups and participated in several theatre productions. Music brought great joy to her and she most recently was choir director at Evangelical Covenant Church in Tucson. She was a member of the University of Arizona Community Chorus and formerly of the Desert Airs. While living in Tucson, she served as a co-facilitator of a divorce recovery group and was involved in a local investment club. She is survived by her children, Lee Cone of St. Joseph, MO, Teri Carrion of Eagleville, PA and Rex Cone of Columbia, MO. She is also survived by two brothers, James Reid of Rocky Mount, NC and Robert Reid of Charlotte, NC. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, May 25, 1994 at 4:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 551 N. Camino Seco, Tucson with Reverend Bruce Finfrock officiating. At a later date a Memorial Service will be held in Whitaker, North Carolina. Her family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Mary B. Reid Cone Memorial Fund, Evangelical Covenant Church, 551 N. Camino Seco, Tucson, AZ 85710.

HADDIX, Rob, 32, of Tucson, died May 22, 1994 at 11:00 a.m. Survived by his father, Weldon Haddix of Albany, Kentucky and mother, Lois Haddix; sister, Lora Haddix of Berea, Kentucky; grandparents, Pryce and Lola Haddix of Albany, Kentucky; and many other Kentucky relatives. Beloved friend of Richard Burch and special other friends in Tucson. Memorial Service in Tucson will be held at DESERT ROSE CREMATORIAM and BURIAL, 2750 S. 4th Ave, at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 1994. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pact for Life, Tucson Aids Project and/or Carondelet Hospice.

COLLINS, Dorothy Virginia, passed away August 1, 1994. Before her retirement she was a Stenographer with the Aircraft Industry. She was a member of The Society of Military Widows, Cactus Rose Chapter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald B. Collins, Air Force Retired, in 1982. Survived by her daughter, Diedre Collins of Perrysville, OH. Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, August 5, 1994 at 9:00 a.m., at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway). Burial will follow next to her husband in South Lawn Cemetery. Friends may make contributions to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are through ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd.

FEARING, Edward Elijah I., age 66, formerly of Columbus, OH, moved to Tucson, AZ 24 years ago, died Monday, August 1, 1994. Mr. Fearing was a retired truck driver. Survived by wife, Marlene (Lindsey) Fearing; three sons, Edward II, Chloe and William, all of Tucson; two daughters, Donna Stapeleton of Salt Lake City, UT, and Rita Murdock of Columbus, OH; 14 grandchildren; three brothers, Ernest and Earl, both of Columbus, and Tom of Tucson; six sisters, Mary McCabe of FL, Lucille Conrad, Betty Lou Barnhart, Helen Mead, Shirley Rhodes, and Charlene Rhodes, all of Columbus. Preceded in death by parents, Rev’s Ernest and Goldie Fearing of Columbus. Friends and family may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway), Tucson, AZ from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Henry Wooten officiating. HASTINGS, Sybol J., 75, resident of Tucson since 1952, died Tuesday, August 2, 1994. Survived by daughter, Kaye Hastings of Tucson; son, Bill Hastings of ID; five grandchildren, Bill Jr., Kathleen, Connie, David and Eric; six great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald B. Winters; sister, Mavis Phillips. Preceded in death by her husband, Avery Hastings in 1962. Graveside Services will be held at South Lawn Cemetery, 5401 S. ILDERTON, Jeanette, born January 3, 1920, passed away July 31, 1994. Survived by husband, David; daughter, Davette Fowler; and son, Christopher (Jean). Jeanette was a life-long California resident and has resided in Tucson since 1982. At Jeanette’s request there will be no funeral services. JOHNSON, Geraldine A., 69, died August 2, 1994. Wife of, Robert K. Johnson; mother of, Roger (Zaiga) Johnson of Golden, CO; sister of, Virgil (Elfie) Stumpf of Prescott Valley, AZ, Eunice (Bill) Thorson of Fargo, ND, and Jeanette (Alfred) Ness of Red Wing, MN; grandmother of, Angela and David Johnson. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the American Medical Society of Technology, very active with Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Red Wing, MN. Memorial Service 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 5, at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, with Pastor Michael Eichstadt officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tucson Medical Center Hospice, 5301 E. Grant Rd., Tucson. Funeral service will be held in Red Wing, MN at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 8, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, with interment to follow at Burnside Cemetery. MCCARTHY, Maurice H., “Mickey’, 71, of Tucson, AZ, died Tuesday, August 2, 1994 after a long struggle with prostate cancer. Remembered as a loving husband and father. Mickey worked for 38 years as a State Farm Agent in Tucson. A member of the Board of The Alcoholism Council of Tucson for seven years and generous benefactor of The Haven (Tucson’s center for women seeking recovery), Mickey gave generously of his time and money in order to help others free themselves from substance abuse. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria; his children, Guy of Tempe, AZ, Greg of Sierra Vista, AZ, Kathleen of Phoenix, AZ, Barbara of Orlando, FL, Gary of Sacramento, CA, and Daniel of Tucson, AZ; and his grandchildren, Brandon, Jared, Christopher, Bethany, Cathleen, Amber, and Brittany. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 6, 1994, 10:00 a.m., at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church, 4725 E. Pima. In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances be made to The Haven (1107 E. Adelaide Dr., Tucson, AZ 85719) or The American Cancer Society.

O’BANNON, Mildred Brown; born August 1, 1919 in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA, died on August 1, 1994 in Tucson, AZ. She and her husband, Frank C. O’Bannon, Jr., Lt. Colonel USAF Retired, had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October of 1993. Over the course of their married years, Millie was a stalwart officer’s wife, following Frank to various parts of the world, setting up a new household and making new friends in more than 20 different locations. Millie was a friend to thousands. Millie’s many activities included membership in the Air Force Officers’ Wives Clubs, and she served as President of the Officers’ Wives Club in Youngstown, OH. Additionally, Millie was a Grey Lady in the ARC, President of the Bell Gardens Community Center, Bell Gardens, CA, Church Secretary at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Hollywood, CA, and Secretary to the Cruising Fleet King Harbor Yacht Club at Redondo Beach, CA. Over the course of the years, Millie provided Frank backing and support in forming and organizing the 461st Bomb Group and their annual reunions, and recently provided similar support with the Sons of the American Revolution. Millie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Barbara, Tom (Leslie), and David (Christina); and her grandchildren, Tracy and Andy; as well as family, friends, and acquaintances too numerous to mention. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. on August 13, 1994 at George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made to the Mildred Brown O’Bannon Scholarship Fund, in care of James Moriarty, Treasurer, Pierce Junior College, 1420 Pine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102.

SHANER, Curtis G., 80, of Tucson, died Monday, August 1, 1994. Survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary Hester Shaner; loving son, Stephen Wayne (Linda) Shaner of CA; two granddaughters, Stephanie Lynn Shaner of CA, and Christina Marie Shaner of TX. Funeral Services will be held at the ARIZONA MORTUARY, 7 E. University Blvd., on Friday, August 5, 1994 at 9:00 a.m., with interment to follow at South Lawn Cemetery. SWENSON, Harold O. “Hal’, 81, died at home August 2, 1994. Resident of Tucson for over 40 years. Worked as a carpet installer and was an avid bowler. He attended Catalina Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois. Survived by his four daughters, Patte Wylie of OH, Dotte Boettger of RI, Pamela Andrews and Vickie Koch, both of Tucson, and their husbands; 15 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a daddy. Ours was. Memorial service 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 5 at East Side Assembly of God Church, 1930 S. Wilmot, with interment at TMP South Lawn at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 5. Friends may call from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4 at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

HADLEY, Barbara T., 68, of Tucson, died May 21, 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Warren Hadley. She is survived by her daughter, Sibyl (Robert) Mc Lendon of Tucson; grandsons, Warren and Christopher M. Hall; stepmother, Grace Tielbur of Spencer, IA. Barbara worked as a Unit Clerk in the Emergency Room of St. Joseph’s Hospital for 25 years until her retirement in 1992. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 25 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd., (one block North of Grant.) Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 26 at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, with interment to follow at South Lawn Cemetery. HART, May A., 99, of Tucson, passed away May 23, 1994. She is survived by her children, Richard E. (Kris) Hart of New York City, J. G. Eugene (Claire) Hart of Tucson, Elizabeth (John) Francis of New Orleans, LA and Rita (George) Stephens of Tucson; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
