WESTCOTT, Howard F., 91, of Tucson, died July 31, 1994. Mr. Westcott moved to Tucson in 1983 from Syracuse to be close to friends, Richard and Jane Downing. His many friends in Syracuse and Tucson will remember him for his deep interest in music, especially the organ, and his hobbies of bridge and square dancing. He was an active member of Spanish Trail Lutheran Church and former member of First English Lutheran Church. Memorial Services will be held at Spanish Trail Lutheran Church, 8701 E. Old Spanish Trail, on Friday, August 5, 1994 at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor Mark Reitan officiating. MCDONELL, Archibald J., 77, died Wednesday, August 17, 1994. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Daniel of Havertown, PA and Scott of Litchfield Park, AZ; brother, Arthur of Spokane; and five grandchildren. He was born in Trail BC Canada and was a graduate in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Idaho School of Mines. His first job was with Bralorne Mines, a gold mining property in BC. In 1948 he immigrated to the US where he worked in properties producing lead, zinc, silver and cooper. He retired from Anaconda Minerals, a subsidiary of Atlantic Richfield in 1981. He and Dorothy have resided in Tucson since 1971. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Assoc. A Memorial Mass will be held at SS Peter and Paul Church, N. Campbell and Lee St., at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20. Arrangements by DESERT ROSE CREMATION and BURIAL.
NELSON, Jonette Sue (Jody), 34, died Monday, August 15, 1994. Survived by her mother, Helen M. Nelson of Prescott, Arizona. Her father, Everett W. Nelson died in Prescott earlier this month. Other survivors include a brother, Jon P. Nelson of State College, PA and five nieces and nephews. Another brother, Kent Nelson is deceased. Jody was a Radiation Therapist at the University Medical Center. She enjoyed the sport of skydiving with friends at the Marana Skydiving Center. She also had a great love for animals and as a dog obedience trainer won many ribbons and awards with her own dogs and for her work in show dog training. A Memorial Service for Jody will be held at ARIZONA MORTUARY (7 E. University Blvd.) at 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 19. Remembrances may be made in her name to the Morris Foundation or to The Humane Society of Tucson.
NOEL, Constance M., 74, died August 13, 1994. She is survived by her sons, Greg (Jennifer) of Champaign, IL and Mike (Jean) of Tucson and four grandchildren, Aimee, Caleb, Darren, and Lisa. Mrs. Noel was born Constance Mary Winifred Gear and raised in Swansea, Wales. Following World War II, she immigrated to the U.S. and married Doyle Noel, whom she had met in Swansea while he was a 1st Lt. with the U.S. 44th Division and 95th Engineers. They were married in Las Cruces, NM in 1946. Mrs. Noel became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1948. Following brief stays in El Paso, Las Cruces, Raleigh NC, Puerto Rico, New York City, and Laredo, the Noels moved to Nogales, AZ in 1954. Mrs. Noel worked for U.S. Customs from 1960 to 1975 at which time she and Doyle retired and moved to Brookings, OR. They moved to Tucson in 1987. Mrs. Noel was a gracious lady who enjoyed the outdoors, travel, animals, and family; but most of all she cherished her time with Doyle, whom she described as her best friend as well as devoted husband, who preceded her in death in December 1992. She lived a full and productive life despite battling cancer for 11 years. May her courage provide hope and strength to others. Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on August 20th at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 4520 W. Ajo Way, with Pastor Jeffray Greene officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be given in her memory to the Humane Society of Tucson. PINNELL, Zola Caldwell, 87, a resident of Grand Prairie, passed away Wednesday at her residence after a sudden illness. Born on June 6, 1907 in the territory of New Mexico. Mrs. Pinnell was a vivacious lady who was very active in her church, First Presbyterian of Grand Prairie, serving in many areas. She was also active and led the Womens Club of Grand Prairie and loved to play bridge. She will be missed by many friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband A.B. Pinnell after 52 1/2 years of marriage. Survived by daughter, Mrs. Louise Innis of Messilla, NM; son, Ben Pinnell of Denton, TX; four grandchildren, Steve Harding of Temple, TX, Cindy Snodgrass of Temple, TX, Mike Ares of Los Alamas, NM, Benjamin Pinnell, III of Denton, TX; two great-grandchildren, Ginny Snodgrass of Temple, TX, Zeke Harding of Temple, TX; brother, Ralph Caldwell. ROSENGARTEN, Ruth Debra, 32, of Tucson, died August 18, 1994. She was active in Easter Seals Activities and participated in their annual telethons. She enjoyed attending the C.P. Bowling League, and was a writer and painter. She touched the hearts of all who knew her. She was predeceased by her father, Robert Rosengarten, M.D. and brother, Jonathan Ira Rosengarten. Survivors include her mother, Lucy Rosengarten of Tucson; sister, Dina Rosengarten of Tucson; brother, Daniel Rosengarten of Tucson; grandparents, Arthur and Sylvia Fine of Tucson; aunt, Alice Fine; cousin, Leslie Fine. KENTRO, Dan M., 83, died in Tucson on August 13, 1994. He was born in Bisbee August 18, 1910. He is survived by his wife, Kay; and two sons, Mark of Phoenix; and Dr. Tenney Kentro of Gainesville, FL. Mr. Kentro was a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology and was a manager of several chemical and mining companies including American Cyanamid, Shattuck-Denn Mining Company, Molycrop, Inc., and Unocal, Inc. He served on the City Council in Prescott. The family suggests contributions to the American Red Cross in lieu of flowers. FULLER, Robert Gerard III, 7, of Tucson, died Saturday, August 13, 1994. Survived by his mother, Janina Lynne Breece; brothers, Jeremy Robert Breece, 17, Zachary Allen Breece, 12, whom he resided with since birth. Not only were these his brothers, but his best friends. Also residing with him was his friend Bryan Cleary, 12, and Corey Cleary; his father, Robert Gerard Fuller II presently residing in Colorado Springs, CO, where he was recently blessed with a visit from Robby. Robby also has a sister, Tonya Lynn Fuller Throp, 10; paternal grandmother, Vivian Faller of Tucson; maternal grandparents, Jack and Elizabeth Creamer of Tucson; great-grandmothers, Emma King of Tucson and Carrie Ward of IN; and many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. He loves all of us and we all love him. Robby was a member of Pop Warners Football “94' Broncos, “93' Steelers, Thornydale Little League Summer “94'. GASHO, Marvin Edmond, Sr., son of Floy and Mary Boyle Gasho, passed away August 11, 1994, two days before his 84th birthday. Marvin, formerly of Columbus, Westerville and Dayton, Ohio passed away at his home of 46 years on the Safety Pin Ranch in Tucson, Arizona. He was a 48 year resident of Arizona. Marvin is survived by his bride of 60 years, Alice Cheek; two sons, Marvin Jr. of Thornfield, MO and John Sr. of Tucson, Arizona; two daughters, Mary Sue Anderson and Nancy Forkum, both of Tucson, Arizona; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. At Marvin’s request, his body was donated to the University of Arizona Cancer Research Center. Also at his request there were no public or private services or memorials. GUZMAN, Carmen, 71, passed away August 15, 1994 at UMC. She was a Chilean retired teacher, well known in Tucson by her activities as an actress and singer. She is survived by her daughters, Maria Rebeca Cartes and Lucia Cartes of Tucson; Juan Cartes of Anchorage, AK, and Carmen Cartes of Santiago, Chile; by her grandchildren, Rayen, Ramon, Paola, Paloma, Daniel, Samuel, Manuel, Francisca, and David; and by great-granddaughter, Akilah. BARRIS, Edward E., 30, of 9 Adams Road, Newfield, former resident of Tucson, died Wednesday morning at Tompkins Community Hospital in Ithaca, New York. Born in Ithaca on February 25, 1964, Ed is the son of Charles and Delores Hall Barris of Newfield. Most recently, Ed was employed as a security guard for George Junior Republic, Freeville, New York. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother David of Newfield and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
