Beloved wife of Trinidad Garcia; survived by her mother, Refugio Curiel, Mr. Trinidad Garcia’s mother, Mrs. Francisca Emelina Gutierrez; her sisters, Rebecca Stoddard and Graciela Garcia; brothers, Armando and Raymundo Fontes; 60 nieces and nephews from the States and Navajoa Sonora Mexico. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 30, 1994 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m at Santa Cruz Church, 1220 S. 6th Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Tuesday 9:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church. SHELDON, Clara R., 97, died Wednesday, May 25, 1994 at the Woodside Convalescent Center nursing home. Preceded in death by husband, Leslie R. Sheldon in 1973. Survived by brother, Norman Enderson of Sargeant. Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon lived in Rochester, MN until 1962 when they moved to Tucson where she resided until 1988 when she returned to Rochester. GIBSON, Charles C., passed away on Monday, May 23, 1994. He is survived by his loving brothers, James (Joan) Gibson of MI; sisters, Kathryn (Paul) Wertman of Tucson, Betty (Don) Wilcox of MI and Donella (Ed) Groves of CO. Private Memorial Services will be held by the family. Charles will be remembered by many friends and family for his fun-loving nature and generosity. MASTAIN, Roger A., 41, of Tucson, died Friday, May 20, 1994. He was born July 11, 1952 in Waterloo, Iowa, son of Willis A. and Lucille Reising Mastain. He married Tracy Burris on February 28, 1991 in Tucson. He worked for John Deere before moving to Tucson eight years ago. Survived by his wife of Tucson; his parents of Sun City; a son, Ryan of Indianapolis; two daughters, Amy of Waterloo and Sara of Tucson; a stepson, Stephen Allen of Tucson; a stepdaughter, Nicole Allen of Tucson; and a paternal grandmother, Edna H. Mastain of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Anlauf. ROAHRIG, Henry L., passes away May 25, 1994. Lived in Tucson since 1957, born and raised in Indiana. Attended and graduated from Bourbon, Indiana High School and Purdue University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He and his family lived in many places in the U.S. and traveled the world. He retired from the U.S. Public Health Services and Blanton and Co. in Tucson. Henry is survived by his wife, Lucille; daughters, Luanne Matteucci of Las Vegas, NV, Jean Clark of Indianapolis, IN; son, Hank and wife Sandy of Norwalk, CA; brother, Guy Roahrig; sisters, Thelma Hall and Marilee Koontz, all of Indiana; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. BUFE, Walter A., 81, beloved husband of Madelyn Bufe for the past 52 years, died on August 17th in Tucson. He was born in Moline, Illinois, attended Moline High School and Augustana College in Rock Island, and was a broadcast engineer in Moline, Rock Island, and Phoenix for many years. He was an avid ham radio operator since 1937, was involved in the union movement during his working years, and was an active supporter of humanitarian causes. As was his wish, there will be no formal burial service. His ashes will be buried in the Oscar Bufe family plot at Riverside Cemetery in Moline. He is survived by his wife Madelyn, of Tucson, his two sons, David, of Tujunga, California, and Charles, of Tucson, and his brother Frank, of Rock Island. He leaves a legacy of kindness, compassion, generosity, patience, humor, and love. He was a wonderful man.
CONFER, Michael Lawrence, 40, of El Paso, TX, died from leukemia on Tuesday August 16, 1994 at the Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso. Survived by his wife, Omaida; mother, Mrs. Lawrence W. Confer; sisters, Deborah Confer and Carleen Greene and extended family members. Michael served in the U.S. Air Force 7 years and then he served in the U.S. Army 10 years as a Helicopter Pilot. He received the Humanitarian Service Medal for relief work in Columbia, and then participated in Operation Just Cause in Panama and the Multinational Force and Observers in Sinai, Egypt. Michael retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in 1993. Graveside Services with Full Military Honors will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 1994 at EAST LAWN PALMS CEMETERY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. FORSBERG, Delbert Alton, 89, died August 18, 1994 at his home. Mr. Forsberg was born September 5, 1904 in Bertrand, Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska, and after a brief time in Chicago, moved to Madison, Wisconsin. It was there he began the Forsberg Paper Box Company. In 1949, he married Margery McCleary Lundberg. Mr. Forsberg was active with many local service clubs in Madison including the Boy Scouts and the Rotary Club. He was also active in the Folding Paper Box Association and a strong supporter of the University of Nebraska. Upon retirement, Mr. Forsberg and his wife moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1969. Mr. Forsberg is survived by his wife, Margery; his daughters, Anne (Larry) Stuart, Sue (John) Bryant, Chris (Tom) French, Connie (Sandy) McClure, Adele (Randy) Thompson; and his son, Chuck Forsberg; 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive. GANOTE, Philip Gordon, 26, of Tucson, Arizona, died early Tuesday, August 16, at his home. He was the beloved son of Catherine Reeve of Rockport, Massachusetts, and Charles E. Ganote of Johnson City, Tennessee. Mr. Ganote was born March 8, 1968, in Bethesda, Maryland. He grew up in Evanston, Illinois, where he attended Martin Luther King, Jr., Laboratory School and graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1986. He moved to Tucson last year, where he became a student at the University of Arizona. He received a B.A. in 1992, with a major in Creative Writing. He worked in the Tucson area. Mr. Ganote leaves a twin brother, David A. Ganote, also of Tucson, and another brother, Charles Stephen Ganote of Washington, D.C. He is also survived by his maternal grandfather, Glen W. Reeve and his uncle, Robert M. Reeve, both of Mobile, Alabama; his paternal grandfather, Marion E. Ganote of St. Joseph, Missouri, and another uncle, Marvin Ganote of Dayton, Ohio, as well as several cousins. He was predeceased by his grandmothers, Kit Reeve of Mobile, Alabama, and Mildred Ganote of Cincinnati. His funeral will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Tucson. HARWOOD, Jeremy Ray, 18, of Tucson, Arizona, died Tuesday morning, August 16, 1994 of cardio-pulmonary arrest and complications of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, after a brief stay at University Medical Center. He was to have graduated from Sahuaro High School at the end of this school year. He is survived by his parents, J. Ray and Pamella Harwood of Tucson; his brother, Mike Harwood of Tucson; his grandparents, J. B. and Lillian Harwood III of Ocean Springs, MS and John G. and Peggy Moore, Sr. of Columbus, MS; and great-grandmother, Alpha Moore of Latta, SC. Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd.
