SILVERMAN, Leonard, age 72, has made his glorious transition into the light, surrounded by his family at home. He was the beloved son of Tillie Silverman; beloved father and friend to Ellen Silverman, Bruce Silverman, Debbie Stocky, Michelle Lombard, Richard Hopkins and Andrew Frohman; loving grandfather of Simon and Vanessa Silverman, Jason, Eric and Sarah Stocky, Charles and Michael Lombard; and great-grandfather of Kaleb Silverman. A service will be held in his memory on Saturday, June 4, at 10:00 a.m. at the Johrei Fellowship, 3919 E. River Road. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, June 5, 9:30 a.m. for a private memorial at their home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Johrei Fellowship.

VINCENT, John D., 84, died May 28, 1994. Survived by his wife, Margaret L. Vincent of Tucson; by five children, Robert Joseph Vincent, Camilla Louise Vincent Diamos, Virginia Jean Vincent Folsom, James Dixon Vincent and William Arthur Vincent; by three step-children, Ann L. Christensen, Fred Vincent Richard and Linda Ruth Richard; by a sister, Camilla Sara Vincent Simmons; by 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Vincent was a metallurgist and former Vice President of AMAX Arizona, Inc. During his long career in the mining industry he authorized several published books and papers on mine development and operations and was the recipient of many awards for his contributions and attainments in his profession. His work took him to many parts of the world and extended to his appointment as Good Will Ambassador for People to People to Southeast Asia in 1986. A Memorial Service for Mr. Vincent will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 10 at ARIZONA MORTUARY, 7 East University Blvd. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to any favorite charity.
CORTEZ, G. Richard, 72, of Oracle, died May 28, 1994. Mr. Cortez retired from the postal service in 1985 and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Survived by wife, Dora L. HISCOTT, William Richard (Bill), age 49, passed away on May 26. He was a self-employed diesel mechanic. He was born in Painesville, Ohio and had resided in Tucson for the last 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Joy Hiscott; a daughter, Sharon Hiscott of Ithaca, New York; a step-daughter, Kellie Chivers; stepsons, Larry and Rick Wiley; seven granddaughters; and one grandson; sisters, Ginger Clover of Prescott, Arkansas, and Genevieve Burke of Hope Arkansas; a brother, Richie Hiscott of Hope, Arkansas. Memorial Services will be held at HEATHER MORTUARY at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 1994 with burial following as East Lawn Palms Cemetery. Bill Hiscott, our good friend will live on in our memories. PARKER, Theodore W., General U.S. Army (Ret.), former Chief of Staff of Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), died Friday, 27 May, at the age of 85. His Army career of 38 years ranged from field duty during World War II and the Korean Conflict, teaching, writing, and duty on the staffs of the Department of Army and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to international diplomacy. Beginning as a young mounted field artilleryman, he moved to instructor duty at West Point, duty in Iceland in the early days of World War II, and then service as the operations officer of Ninth Army (later writing “Conquer, the official history of Ninth Army’). In Korea, he commanded division and corps artillery. Stateside commands included an anti-aircraft brigade and the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas. General Parker’s assignments in the political-military arena included three years on the War Department General Staff, a year in the executive office of the President and more than three years in Paris as the Standing Group’s representative to the North Atlantic Council. In 1961, he returned to Washington to serve as Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and then as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army for Military Operations from 1962-63. From 1963-69, General Parker served as Chief of Staff of SHAPE in Paris and Belgium. After retiring from the Army in 1969, he was appointed Commissioner of Transportation for the Start of New York by Governor Nelson Rockefeller. Upon completion of his goals for re-organizing the department, he retired to focus on his life-long love of golf. A member of the Oro Valley Country Club in Tucson and Schuyler Meadows in Albany, he enjoyed a low handicap honed for many years of dedicated play. In Tucson, he led the Great Decisions discussion group. He was a member of the Board of the Association of Graduated at the U.S. Military Academy from 1969 until his death. He is survived by his wife, Nina Hill Parker, and three daughters, Kathleen O’Beirne of Mystic, CT, Patricia Lessie of Pensacola and Nina Lavin of Arlington, VA. His sister, Katherine Peterson, lives in Tacoma, WA. A memorial service will be held at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. @ Magee, Tucson, at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 1994. Inurnment at West Point is yet to be scheduled. LEE, Marlin D., age 83, of Tucson, AZ, with summer residence in Floodwood, MN, died Sunday, May 22, 1994 at St. Lukes Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota. He was born January 25, 1911 in Creston, Iowa, and moved to the Albert Lea, MN area a the age of 14. He had worked for Northern States Power all through the midwest area. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and served as a Chief Petty Officer in the Sea Bees. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering. After WWII, he founded, owned and operated Lee Electric Co. in Robbinsdale, MN for 25 years. He then built Maple Hill Estates Mobile Home Park in Corcoran, MN. He was a member of the Minneapolis Masonic Lodge, the Zurah Shrine Temple in Minneapolis and the Charles R. Knaeble VFW Post 494 of Crystal, MN and Westphal American Legion Post 251 of Robbinsdale, MN. He was an avid pilot since the age of 18, was a Barnstormer Pilot, a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assoc. and the OX5 Club. He was a member for over 25 years of Streams In The Desert Lutheran Church in Tucson, AZ and served as the building chairman. He is survived by his wife, Leita; two sons, Ronald of Rotterdam, The Netherlands and Roger (Irisita) of Glendora, CA; one brother, Lawrence of Blooming Prairie, MN; and three sisters, Alice (Ernest) Enderson of Albert Lea, MN, Ora Jergens of Owatonna, MN and Ethel Glovka of Banks, OR. Visitation was held Thursday, May 26, 1994 from 2:00 p.m. until the 3:00 p.m. Funeral Service at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Carlton, MN.
