CORBIN, Howard, 79, a resident of Tucson, died August 6, 1994. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret; son, Donald of Republic, Washington; and a daughter, Shirley of Hillsboro, Oregon. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m., Christ Presbyterian Church, 6565 E. Broadway, Pastor Joe Skelly officiating. BONDELL, Hilma, 76, of Tucson, passed away August 9, 1994, in La Jolla, CA after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her brother, David C. Vactor. She is survived by her sons, Rick (Sue) Bondell, Jamie Bondell, Tom (Jan) of Bondell of Sedona; her brother, Charles Vactor of Cleveland, OH; and ten grandchildren. Hilma was at the head of the Tri-City Blood Bank in MI for many years before moving to Tucson. Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

DEDMON, Joseph B., 85, of Vail, died August 9, 1994. Joe was a retired Southern Pacific Railroad Employee. Survived by children, Ronald Dedmon, Betty Kennedy, Barbara Lord, Robert Dedmon, and Raymond Montalvo; and 12 grandchildren. Friends may call Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Graveside Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.

HUFF, Frances A. (Jacobsen), 78, of Tucson, born January 3, 1916 in Brooklyn, NY passed away August 5, 1994. Preceded in death by her late husband, Whitey Jacobsen. Survived by her present husband, Robert Huff; sons, Jake Jacobsen of Flagstaff, AZ, Edward (Caroline) Jacobsen of Tucson; grandson, Eric Jacobsen of Chicago, IL. She will be lovingly remembered by her family. Memorial Services will be held Sunday, August 14, 1994 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 8650 N. Shannon Rd. MIRANDA, Maria Cruz, 83, of Rillito, AZ, passed away August 8, 1994. Preceded in death by sons, Manuel Carbajal and Miguel Tellez. Survived by husband, Onecimo Miranda; daughters, Rosa Zuniga, Isabel Aguilar, Prisila T. Montes, and Maria J. Alcoser; son, Jose Miranda; daughters-in-law, Juanita Carbajal and Maria Tellez; sisters, Benina Pas, and Michaela Martinez; 26 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. STEDMAN, Donna Beatrice, 79, had lived in Tucson since 1969. Born in Oak Hill, W. VA, she had lived in Ohio, New Mexico, Los Angeles area and Phoenix before coming here. Survived by her husband, Charles Arther Stedman; a daughter, Mrs. D.P. Carroll of Santa Ana, CA; sisters Luella Burgess of Oak Hill, W. VA, Leona Watts of Manassas, VA; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was formerly employed in office work and bookkeeping. She was married to Charles A. Stedman in 1951, and after coming to Tucson they were both active in Rincon Congregational Church until failing health forced her to stop outside activities. A memorial service will be held at Rincon Congregational Church, 122 N., Craycroft Rd., on Saturday, August 13, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Tucson Memorial Society, P.O. VARGAS, Maria Ofelia “Chulis’, memorial Mass will be held at St. Margaret’s Church, 801 N. Grande Ave, on August 13, 1994, at 7:00 p.m. Maria, daughter of Ofelia S. Vargas (longtime resident and active community volunteer of Tucson), died in Berkeley, CA on April 20, 1994. Ms. Vargas was a psychiatric social worker, and practiced privately as a psychotherapist and organizational consultant. She was an advocate on the rights and advancement of Latinos, women and youth. One of the founders of the Institute for the Study of Psychopolitical Trauma in Berkeley. Ms. Vargas was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Humane Letters posthumously by the Professional School of Psychology in San Francisco. She is survived by her brother Hector of Tucson and her sister Lucila Arvizu of Mexico City.

VERDUGO, Jeanette A., 75, died August 10, 1994. Survived by her husband, Andrew S. Verdugo; daughter, Anita Jack; daughter, Helen Prudens; step-son, Andy R. Verdugo; step-daughter, Lucrecia R. Valenzuela. All of Tucson. Memorial Services to be held at DESERT ROSE CREMATION AND BURIAL, 2750 S 4th Ave, August 12, 1994 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. Friends are invited.

CUESTAS, Joe F., 43, of Tucson, passed away August 7, 1994. Preceded in death by brother, Alex F. Cuestas. Survived by parents, Maria and Manuel Cuestas; brothers, Alfred (Yolanda) and Michael (Josie) Cuestas. Also survived by four nieces; and three nephews. GRANILLO, Mary L., 74, of Tucson, passed away August 7, 1994. Preceded in death by grandson, Frank “Bobo’ Granillo III. Survived by husband, Frank M. Granillo, Sr.; daughter, Mary Helen Granillo; sons, Frank Jr. (Pat), Joe (Olga) and Benny (Martha); sister, Armida Lopez; sisters-in-law, Esperanza Soto and Jessie Valencia; brother, Gilbert Mariscal; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. HAINES, Schulyer, infant, died July 27, 1994. Survived by his parents, Jerry and Susanne Haines; brother, Kyle Haines, all of Tucson; also survived by grandparents, Stanley and Mary Gydesen of Tucson and King and Thelma Alberts of Peoria, IL; three sets of great-grandparents of Peoria, IL and a great-grandmother of Massena, NY; two uncles, two aunts and two cousins from Tucson and Peoria, IL. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at Davis Monthan Air Force Base Chapel II by Father Weber on August 5 at 9:30 a.m. followed by burial at Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery.

Claunch of Oakland, TN, Jona Taylor of Tucson; sons, Charles Lewis of Tucson, Clarence (Billie) Lewis of Tucson, Farley (Debbie) Lewis of Flagstaff; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. MIKA, Theodore Joseph, 87 years old, died Sunday, August 7, 1994 in Tucson. Survived by wife, Emma Mika of Tucson; two daughters, Reverend Patricia (David) Gutknecht of Chippewa Falls, WI, Judith Kay (David) West of Yuma, AZ; brother, Chester Mika of Saegertown, PA; three sisters, Genieve Mika of Los Angeles, CA, Lillian Dylyn of Dearborn, MI, Polly Worosz of Westland, MI; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Mika was a life member of the VFW Post 4903, Professional Polish Folk Dancer and Translator for the Polish Immigrants. HESS, Anna “Pearl’, formerly of Tucson, died Saturday, August 6, 1994 in R. D. Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. Anna was a typesetter for a print shop in Tucson where she resided from 1931 until five years ago when she went to live with her niece and her husband in PA. Preceded in death by husband, James Glen Hess. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Memorial Service will be held at the Presbyterian Church at McAlevy’s Fort, PA Thursday at 11:00 a.m, the Rev.
