GAY, Hazel I., 93, of Tucson, died Monday, June 20, 1994. Survived by many loving family members and friends. Hazel was the past president and life member of Morgan McDermott Unit #7, American Legion Auxiliary, and Chapeau Passe of Pima Salon #164 8/40; also a member of the year 1985-86 of the American Legion Auxiliary Dept. of Arizona. She was well known for her great love of children of our community and longtime volunteer at the V.A. Hospital. MOLITOR, Leonard, of Boynton Beach, FL, died August 24, 1994 in Tappahannock, VA while visiting his daughter. He was 79 years of age and was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Ryan Molitor. He attended St. John’s University in Minnesota and was a graduate of the University of Minnesota. He resided in Tucson during 1993 and was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Mr. Molitor was the Branch Manager for Monroe Calculator Company in Fargo, ND from 1955 to 1974. He is survived by his daughters, Marnie Molitor Roberts of Tucson and Alice Molitor King of Fairfax, VA; and five grandchildren, James, Bill and Molly Roberts of Tucson and Amy and Ryan King of VA. ROGERS, Lavaun Peterson, age 82, passed away in her Tucson Home on Thursday, June 23, 1994. The granddaughter of northern Arizona pioneers and an actively devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she was born in St. Johns on August 13, 1911. Graduating in Education from Arizona State College in 1932, Mrs. Rogers has been a Tucson resident since that year. She became a teacher at the elementary level for the Sunnyside School District from 1932 to 1937, having been married just earlier to Martin Smith Rogers who became a prominent Tucson attorney for thirty years. Mrs. Rogers in the 1960 and 70s served as president of the Arizona Federation of Women’s Clubs, later sitting on the national board in the General Federation of Clubs. She had previously been president of the Southern District Federation of Women’s Clubs and of the Tucson Women’s Club (1961-62). Mrs. Rogers was a granddaughter of Rachel Emma Allen Berry, the first woman legislator in the State. From 1937 to 1943 she co-owned with her husband the College Store, a combination book store and restaurant at the main entrance to the University of Arizona. An ardent homemaker and patron of the fine arts, she had raised three children who now survive her: Richard M. (Frances Ann) of Kearny, Professor Rie (Rex C.) Mitchell of Calabasas, California, and Robert Karl (Annette) of Scottsdale. There are eight grandchildren surviving, and two sisters, Lanore Kennedy and Donna Blankenship, both of California. Wednesday, June 29, at 10:00 a.m. A church service will be conducted at the El Dorado Ward, 6150 E. Fairmont, in Tucson. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday evening, June 28, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at BRING’S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Family members will be present to greet friends.
