Necola Williams
Necola Jenique Hill Williams, 35, died May 14, 2009.
Mrs. Williams was born on Jan. 27, 1973, the first child of Brenda Faye and James Ray Hill. She was a loving, nurturing mother, daughter, sister and aunt, cousin and friend. She had an unconditional love for children and began working with children for a short period at Cogdill Recreational Center. She then moved on and spent time caring for children at the Crisis Nursery. After that, she moved to Chicago, where she began school to become a social worker. She earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in social work. She was soft-spoken but managed to be a big sister to any younger woman.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her daughter, Netia Williams; son Albert Williams; sister Tinesha Hill; father James Hill; grandmother Melba Neal; grandmother Rosetta Gipson; and a host of family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Brenda Faye Hill; a great-grandmother; and brother James Hill Jr.
Services took place May 22, in Flagstaff.

Cece Cook
Cece Gail Cook, 49, of Flagstaff, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009, with her daughter Tess, brother Ted and friends at her side.
Ms. Cook was born May 23, 1959, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Ted and Shirley Cook. She was a retired property manager, real estate broker and co-owner of Village Land Shoppe. She wanted to acknowledge the following special people in her life: Wendy Maayan, Wendi Wert, Lori Maloney, Dan Ribnick, Tim Weil, Jeff Nerenberg, Julie Fitchett, Sue Lopez, Sybil Smith, Kevin Mullaney, Gail Wirtanen and Nan Leventhal. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Rose (Tess) Mullaney; stepson Johnathan Mullaney (Siri) of Flagstaff; brother Ted Cook (Jenine) of Phoenix; sister Barb Margrave (Craig) of Utah; father-in-law Maurice Mullaney of Pennsylvania; brother-in-law Kevin Mullaney (Cely) of Flagstaff; sister-in-law MaryEllen Williams (John) of Virginia; sister-in-law Christine Brennan (Tom) of North Carolina; sister-in-law Leah Mullaney of North Carolina; brother-in-law Mark Mullaney (Regina) of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law Michele Lenze (Dan) of North Carolina; Paul Mullaney (Tara) of Pennsylvania, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Mullaney; her parents, Shirley and Ted; her brother, Harlan; and her half-brothers, Charles and Irwin.
A celebration of her life will be May 23, at 2 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 2101 N. San Francisco St., in Flagstaff. Those who wish to are invited to share their stories and remembrances.

Ruby Delgado
Ruby (Martin) Delgado, 90, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009.
Mrs. Delgado's childhood years were spent in Fontana, Calif., where she raised her brothers and sisters. She married Tony Delgado on Nov. 9, 1968, in Winterhaven, Calif. Shortly after the wedding, they bought a house in Colton, Calif. They lived there until 1996, when Mrs. Delgado decided to move to Winslow to be closer to her grandchildren. Mrs. Delgado is survived by children Frankie Ybarra, of Oakland, Calif., Oliva Ybarra, of California, and Reuben Ybarra, of San Bernardino, Calif.; two grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her father, David Martin; her mother, Ida Martin; brothers Jimmy, Samuel and Danny Martin; sister Pricilla (Martin) Deleon; and her beloved husband, Tony Sal Delgado.
Holy rosary will be recited Friday, at 7 p.m., at the Norvel Owens Mortuary of Winslow.
Kathy Newell
Kathy Crozier Newell, 56, died in the waters off Guam on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, while scuba diving. She was born on July 13, 1952, in Cottonwood to Bruce and Margaret Crozier, and lived most of her life in Flagstaff.
Mrs. Newell graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1970 and attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo., finishing her bachelor of science degree in elementary education at Northern Arizona University. She went on to complete a master's degree in bilingual, multicultural education with special endorsements in ESL. She began her teaching career at Page Middle School, but spent most of her career at South Beaver Elementary School teaching kindergarten, primary and intermediate grades. She specialized in teaching limited language students to read. Mrs. Newell retired from the classroom in 2005, turning her attention to leadership roles at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church organizing church education curriculum. She also continued as a volunteer for the Flagstaff Unified School District with the high school speech and debate teams.
She spent nearly two years as a volunteer instructor at Pacific Islands Bible College in Guam teaching methods in education to increase the opportunities for Micronesian future teachers and Christian pastors.
Mrs. Newell is survived by her father, Bruce Crozier; daughters Leilani Ritchie of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Laurinda Turnage of Phoenix; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Hutchison Crozier.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 1601 N. San Francisco St., with reception to follow in Benson Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made to the Camp Colton project through FUSD.
Trevor Peace
Trevor Peace, 21, of Flagstaff, died unexpectedly on March 10, 2009.
Mr. Peace was an outgoing young man who made an impact on many people's lives. He moved to Flagstaff at 8 years old. He was a graduate of Coconino High School. He loved, and will be missed by, his family and friends. Mr. Peace is survived by his mother, Pamela; his step-father, Rick; his brothers, Greg, Kyle and Chad; his sister, Crista; one niece; one nephew; and his father, Jay.
A gathering will be Saturday at 1 p.m., for friends and family who would like to share their memories. Services will follow at 2 p.m., both at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66.

Catherine Holiday
Services for Catherine "Cathy" Ann Holiday will be Saturday at Norvel Owens Mortuary Chapel, 914 E. Route 66, in Flagstaff.
Mrs. Holiday, 58, formerly of Flagstaff, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at her home in Seal Rock, Ore., from cancerous brain tumors. She is survived by husband Al Holiday; stepchildren Brian (Shannon) Holiday and Karen (William) O'Donnell; brother James Clifford Pitts Jr.; two grandchildren; an aunt; several cousins and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
John Hardy
John Willden "Jack" Hardy, 91, of Flagstaff died Friday, May 8, 2009.
Mr. Hardy was born June 17, 1917, in Salt Lake City. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. After his return, he married Alta Heller, the love of his life. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho. It was there that he established a career in home interiors, first owning an upholstery shop and later a furniture store he called Jacardi's. Over the years, the family lived in Ventura, Calif., and Phoenix, where Mr. Hardy successfully operated similar businesses. He always preferred working for himself. In the early 1970s, he and his wife built one of the first homes in the Continental Country Club neighborhood of Flagstaff. He and his wife enjoyed many international trips together. Among his favorite pastimes were golf and playing cards with family. He was also an avid fan of the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Phoenix Suns and the Arizona Cardinals.
Mr. Hardy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alta of Flagstaff; daughters JoAnn (L.A.) Wilson of Duncansville, Pa., Amy (Mike) Wilkinson of Phoenix and Allyn (John) Barefield of Flagstaff; sons J.B. (Karen) of Phoenix and Jim (Sandi) of Ventura, Calif.; sister Velma Boyce of Hartford, Tenn.; brothers Andy of St. George, Utah, and Paul of Enoch, Utah; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
At Mr. Hardy's request, no services are planned.
Anna Baca
Anna Lisa Baca, 41, of Flagstaff, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, surrounded by her family and friends.
Miss Baca was born on Feb. 26, 1968. She enjoyed working at Lou Corporation with all her friends, painting, dancing, listening to music and watching movies. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and granddaughter and a special gift from God to her parents Reuben and Shirley Baca. Miss Baca is survived by sisters Monica Baca, Paula (Gino) Mates, Shelly (Ramon) Martinez and Yvette Baca; a niece; four nephews; and many cousins, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her beloved Grandma Lucy Salazar and many loved ones.
Evening vigil and holy rosary will be Thursday, at 7 p.m., at St. Pius X Center, 2257 E. Cedar Ave. Funeral Mass will be Friday, at 10 a.m., at St. Pius X Center. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Mary Nackard
Mary Lillian Nackard, 77, died on Aug. 13, 2009, at the Olivia White Hospice Home.
She was born Oct. 6, 1931, in Rockford, Ill., to Neff Webster and Mary Elizabeth Shellenberger. She grew up in Rockford and then moved to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona, earning a B.A. in education in 1952 followed by an M.A. in history at Northern Arizona University in 1970. She was initially married to Dr. George Yard; in 1960 they settled in Flagstaff to raise their four children. In 1979, she was married to Victor Nackard and they enjoyed 25 spirited years together. Mrs. Nackard was actively involved in the local community, participating in many organizations and activities that included Coconino County Republican Women, PEO, Kappa Kappa Gamma, American Legion Women's Auxiliary, Salvation Army and countless other volunteer efforts. Mary's greatest passion in life was politics, where she was actively involved in the Republican Party for more than 50 years, serving in numerous political roles at both a state and local level.
She worked at the Flagstaff Public Schools, Coconino County recorder's office, and Northern Arizona University. She served multiple terms as Coconino County Superintendent of Schools. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and gardening; was an avid reader; and especially loved sharing time with her children.
She is survived by sister Elizabeth Liggett of Lincoln, Neb.; children Michael Yard (daughter-in-law Elizabeth), Jennifer Yard, Stephanie Yard and Tom Yard, all currently residing in Flagstaff; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor; sisters Susan Welsh and Nancy Corral; and son-in-law Tom Moody.
A small private service is to be held at Citizens cemetery for family and close friends. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at the Elks Lodge, 2101 N. San Francisco St., at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009. We cordially invite all to attend, reminisce and reconnect with friends. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Northland Hospice, P.O.
