James Price
James "Rusty" Duane Price, 81, died with his loving partner, Juanita Phipps, Wednesday, May 27, 2009, in an auto accident outside of Blue Ridge.
Mr. Price was born Oct. 22, 1928, to Fred Price and Nellie Bliss in Loveland, Colo. He lived life to the fullest and was a man of many passions. He was a war veteran, sailor, rancher, hunter, truck driver, miner, fisherman, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mr. Price is survived by daughter Joni Price of Parker; brother Derrel Price of Big River, Calif.; sister Irel Jean Fernandez of Denver, Colo.; daughter-in-law Nance Price of Littleton, Colo.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his ex-wife M. Ruth Price; his daughter Kathy Mendenhall; and son Stephen D. Price.
Memorial services for Rusty Price and Juanita Phipps will be today, at 1 p.m., in Happy Jack, at 704 Reata Pass. Following will be a potluck lunch.

Nancy Draper
Nancy Ruth Draper, 69, died May 30, 2009. She was born Nov. 22, 1939, in Bessemer, Mich., to Lloyd and Carole Voss.
Mrs. Draper was raised in Manitowish Waters, Wisc. She attended high school at Douner Seminary for girls in Milwaukee, Mo., in 1957, and received her associates degree at Stevens College in Columbia, Mo., 1959. She continued her education receiving a bachelors degree in primary education from The University of Arizona in Tucson, in 1961, and a master degree in education from Northern Arizona University, also in the 1960s. While growing up, her family owned Voss' Breezy Point Resort and she was a member of "Skiing Skeeters" water-ski team. She drove across the country alone to attend the University of Arizona to study education and become a teacher in 1959. While at UofA she was on the rifle team and a member of the American Indian Club. She married Richard P. Draper on April 14, 1961.
Mrs. Draper loved horses; she and Mr. Draper raised and raced horses. She loved to ride and her ultimate goal when she was sick was to get well and strong enough to ride their horses again. She also loved to read and had an extensive novel collection. Mrs. Draper worked for Chinle Unified School District for more than 25 years and retired in 1996.
Mr. and Mrs. Draper lived in Flagstaff, then Chinle, and then moved up to the Draper Ranch at Del Muerto in 1979.
Mrs. Draper is survived by her husband Richard P. Draper; their children, Kimberly S. Draper, Richard H. Draper and David S. Draper; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; her sister, Susan Voss-Kraut; and her brother, Henry C. Voss. A service will take place on Friday at 10:30 a.m., at the Chinle Catholic Church in Chinle.

Charles Allen
Charles Jesse "Chuck" Allen, 63, of Chino Valley, formerly of Grand Canyon, died Friday, May 22, 2009, in Prescott. He fought cancer with determination and is now in peaceful rest.
Mr. Allen was born in Santa Fe, N.M., and moved as a youngster with his family to Falls Church, Va., and then as a teenager to Grand Canyon National Park where his father was the park's administrative officer. His first job was running the projector for Emery Kolb's films for tourists on the South Rim. He graduated from Grand Canyon High School in 1964, and worked as a seasonal employee of the U.S. Forest Service while attending college. He joined the agency full-time in 1967 and opened the Grand Canyon Tanker Base in 1969 for the Tusayan Ranger District of the Kaibab National Forest. A 44-year career veteran of the Forest Service, he had managed air tanker operations at the Prescott Fire Center since 1996. Mr. Allen was proud of his contributions to the Forest Service's wildfire suppression and aviation programs. He received numerous commendations for firefighting logistics over the years. He was an avid outdoorsman and was known among friends for his extensive knowledge of and enthusiasm for firearms. He taught gun safety classes for several years. Other interests included northern Arizona history and World War II-era aircraft that had been converted for firefighting operations.
Mr. Allen is survived by his sister Janet (Madden "Pat") Works of Fullerton, Calif.
Celebrations of his life will be in Prescott in mid-June (date and place to be announced) and also at Grand Canyon later in the summer. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Hospice Family Care, 100 E. Sheldon, Suite 100, Prescott, AZ 86301.
Bobbette Sandoval
Bobbette Sandoval, 57, of Flagstaff, died May 18, 2009. She was born Nov. 16, 1951, in Evansville, Ind.
She graduated from Parklon High School in El Paso, Texas. She moved to Flagstaff in 1976 and was employed by W.L. Gore from 1977 until 1997. She then started her own home health care business where she enjoyed working with the elderly. After closing her business in 2001, she married her longtime companion Ralph R. Sandoval. Mrs. Sandoval became employed by Maine Consolidated School in Parks. She loved both the children and staff, and was employed there for seven years.
She was a very caring and compassionate individual. She was a hospice volunteer and a member of Christ Church of Flagstaff where she became a stevens minister. One of her last wishes was to stick her feet in the sand, on the beach, so she went on a family trip to San Diego. She loved spending time with friends and family.
Mrs. Sandoval is survived by daughters Vicki Sundwall and Amber Pool (Tyler Winton) of Flagstaff; stepdaughters Lisa Quinn of Goodyear and Lorretta Sandoval of Sacramento; stepson Paul Sandoval of Sacramento; a grandmother; her mother, Lillian Nail of Mesa; sisters Deloris Manning (Clint) of Tucson and Sandra Duncan (Charles) of Las Vegas; brothers Robert Nail, Paul Nail of Tucson and Ronald Nail of Mesa; five grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph R. Sandoval; her father, Robert T. Nail; her grandfathers; a grandmother; and two aunts.
Services will be Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Christ Church of Flagstaff.

Cynthia Ogilvie
Cynthia "Cyndi Lou" Ogilvie, 57, formerly of Williams, died Jan. 23, 2009, at her home in Gisela.
She was born May 27, 1951, in Red Bluff, Calif., and came to Flagstaff in 1972 where she was an escrow officer at Minnesota Title and Trust for many years. Always a free spirit, she traveled widely and gathered a large family of friends. In 1984, she settled in Williams to open a barbecue restaurant on Route 66 and later worked for the state -- first in Bellemont and then for the Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind in Flagstaff. She like to cook, read, play scrabble, entertain friends and greatly enjoyed her pets. She is survived by her mother, Charlene Ogilvie; brother Bruce Ogilvie; sisters Deena Blevins and Laura Gilson; and her companion, Rick Bailey.
A celebration of her life will be Saturday afternoon at Buckskinner Lake in Williams.
Virendrakummar Patel
Virendrakummar P. Patel, 47, of Flagstaff, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009.
Mr. Patel was born Aug. 2, 1961, in India. He moved to the United Sates in 1991, from Ode, Gujarat, India. He was a great husband and father. He enjoyed being around his family. Mr. Patel is survived by his wife and two young daughters ages 14 and 12.
A funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Norvel Owens Mortuary Chapel.
Elsie Ellis
Elsie Ellis, 87, of Flagstaff, died Sunday, June 7, 2009.
Mrs. Ellis was born July 18, 1921, in Shokopee, Minn., to Claus and Clara Greve. Her father immigrated to America from Germany. He farmed and raised animals for a living and to feed his family. Mrs. Ellis and her two brothers, Paul (the oldest) and Bill (the youngest), grew up with the Oscar and Merle Sorkil family in Minneapolis. At the age of 18, Mrs. Ellis joined the Women's Army Corp (WACs) and was stationed throughout the war as a cook on a variety of bases in Louisiana, California and Colorado. She met her husband while in the Army and had one daughter after her discharge. She became a cook, and eventually a manager and caterer for the Naval Exchange at Great Lakes Navel Base in Illinois. She lived there for more than 40 years, retiring to Eugene, Ore., to be near her family, and three years ago to Flagstaff.
She had artistic talent from an early age, and it continued to appear throughout her life with her catering skills and retirement hobbies of sewing and gardening. Her family and friends will remember her by her generous spirit. For the holidays she would bake and sew gifts for family, friends and those in need.
She loved animals -- birds, cats and especially dogs, which she raised in Illinois. In retirement, she just enjoyed other people's dogs, especially Zane, the golden retriever caregiver at Olivia White Hospice Home. They visited when she volunteered in the gardens there and when she spent her last week as a resident.
Mrs. Ellis is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Loni and Dick Shapiro of Flagstaff.

Frances Padilla
Frances A. Padilla, formerly of Flagstaff, died June 6, 2009. She was 89 years young.
She was born Dec. 19, 1919. Mrs. Padilla is survived by six children: Rachel Cadriel of Phoenix, Robert A. Padilla of Ash Fork, Ruben A. Padilla of El Paso, Texas, Lydia Padilla of Phoenix, Dan Padilla of Phoenix and Carol Stefaniak of Flagstaff. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
All services will be celebrated at Abundant Life Center, 3535 N. 63rd Ave., in Phoenix. The viewing will be Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be Friday at 9 a.m., with a graveside service to follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn, 719 N. 27th Ave.
James Martin
James William Martin, 22, of Flagstaff, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009, in Flagstaff.
Mr. Martin was born March 23, 1987, in Flagstaff. He loved his friends, family and outdoor activities. He will be missed by all who were touched by him. He is survived by his companion Monique Martinez; father Barry (Debbie) Martin; mother Marilyn Myers; brother John Vincent; stepsister Keri Morrill; and stepbrother Alex Morrill.
He was preceded in death by sister Leah Marie Martin.
A remembrance will be at his father's home, 8240 Catalina Road, Sunday at 1 p.m.
Charles Lopez
Charles H. Lopez, 68, formerly of Flagstaff, died Friday, June 5, 2009.
Mr. Lopez was born in McNary and raised in Holbrook. He worked for the Holbrook Police Department and retired from the Arizona Department of Public Safety. He worked as Justice of Peace for Coconino County and as a Flagstaff City Court magistrate. He was involved in numerous organizations including the Coordinating Council of Mexican American Affairs and the Coconino County Merit Commission. He served as vice president of Mount Elden Little League as well.
Mr. Lopez is survived by beloved wife Priscilla U. Lopez; sons Jeff (Kim) and Jody (Roxanne); daughter Monica; five grandchildren; two nephews and a niece; and many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lilly Lopez, and sister Mary Ellen Kiepke.
Viewing is Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m., and Rosary will be at 7 p.m. at Golden Door Chapel, 11211 W. Michigan Ave. (Exit 111th Avenue at Grand Avenue). Mass will be on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas, 13720 W. Thomas Road in Avondale. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
