Charles Christopher Gimber, 2, died Sunday, July 4, 2010.
He was born May 23, 2008 in Phoenix, AZ to Christopher D. Gimber and Victoria Ben. His Maternal Clan is Coyote Pass Clan.
Charles enjoyed the outdoors and also liked family movie nights.
He is survived by his father Christopher D. Gimber, mother Victoria Ben sister Leanne M. Gimber, brothers Xavier P. Ben, Elijah Ben, Kurtis F. J. Gimber, Austin Gimber, Maternal Grandparents Bahe and Esther Yonnie, Paternal Grandparents Jhon and Lori Swendeman.
Charles is preceded in death by his aunt Cortincia Barlow and his Great-Grandma Agnes Phillips.
Graveside Services were held Friday, July 9, 2010 at 11:00 on Family land, Moenave, AZ.
JonPaul Edward Jankowski
JonPaul Edward Jankowski passed into the hands of his heavenly Father early in July of 2010.
JonPaul was born in Los Angeles, California on September 12, 1978.
He was dearly loved by his family and friends and was known for his humor and love for animals.
He had a very loving heart.
JonPaul is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mayme Reinarts and Lyle Ramnes, and his paternal grandfathers, Edward Jankowski and Robert Hedrick.
He is survived by his mother and father, Karen and Michael Jankowski, his brother, Matthew, his aunts, Gerri Howard, and Jackie Eubanks and Grandmothers Peggy Jankowski and Charlie Ramnes.
A memorial Mass will be offered on Friday, July 16th, 10:00 am, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Steve A. (Joey/Swede) Johanson
Steve A. (Joey/Swede) Johanson, died July 25, 2010 in Flagstaff, AZ. Steve was born on September 22, 1954 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Verne and Eunice Johanson. He is survived by his father Verne (Joyce) Johanson of Sun City, AZ, sister Kristine (Raymond) Swisher and nephew Joel Swisher all of Bellefontaine, OH. He was preceded in death by his mother Eunice and brother Joel.
Steve grew up in Rockford, IL and Columbus, OH. He attended “The Ohio State University where he took forestry classes. His love of the outdoors began at a young age with Boy Scouts. Steve earned the Eagle Scout award in 1969. He was always camping, fishing and riding motorcycles. It was his love of motorcycles and the outdoors that took him out to Arizona in 1975. While in Arizona, Steve worked on the Hot Shot crew at Mormon Lake., well drilling, logging, Snow Bowl and commercial refrigeration repair. His passion for motorcycles prepared him for his final career as a master mechanic at Grand Canyon Harley Davidson. On many occasions rider would ask “could the mechanic with the white beard please work on my bike”. Steve was a member and rode with the local H.O.G. chapter. He was very proud to be in Milwaukee for the 100th anniversary of the Harley Davidson Motorcycle plant.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 31st at 10:00 a.m. at Lozano’s Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N. Fourth Street, Flagstaff, AZ. Following the services, there will be a memorial ride to Mormon Lake followed by a time of fellowship in the outdoors that Steve loved so much.
In lieu of flowers, friends may send memorials to a charity of your choice.
Vincente H. Martinez
Vincente H. Martinez died peacefully at his home on July 10, 2010 at age 76, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
He was surrounded by his loving wife and children at the time of his death.
Vince was born on July 19, 1933 in Flagstaff, Arizona to Miguel and Josefa Martinez. He was very proud of his service in the US Army as well as his lifelong commitment to his wife Mary, whom he wed in July 1959.
Vince is survived by Mary, his children Debra Delgadillo (Ray), Vince Martinez (Candyce), Frances Fuerst, Caroline Marr (Joe), Bridget Anderson (Jason), numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, his brothers Raymond and Rufino and his sister Rosita.
Vince is predeceased by his parents, his brother Tomas and his sisters Petra and Josefina.
Vince will forever be remembered as a family man, a home gardener, a BBQ Chef, an active member in the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Church, and everyone’s good friend. Our family would like to thank the Kingman Regional Medical Center Hospice team for giving Vince a quality of life and dignity in death. In lieu of flowers we ask all to contribute to their community hospice programs. An evening vigil and holy rosary will be held on Wednesday, July14, 2010 at 6:00 pm with funeral mass on Thursday, July 15 at 10:00 am, both held at St. Pius X Center, 2257 E. Cedar Ave.
Burial of cremated remains will follow at the Calvary Cemetery, 201 W. University.
Veterans honors will be rendered by the members of Flagstaff’s Veterans organizations.
Maria Manuela Montes
Maria Manuela Montes, 27, died on July 25, 2010. She was born on June 3, 1983 in Flagstaff to Eleanor Sandoval Carrillo. Maria was a loving mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She loved being with her two children. Maria also loved to bead.
Maria is survived by her daughter; Delia Campa, her son; Santino Garcia, mother; Eleanor (Leandro) Carrillo, father; Conrado (Lucy) Montes, Rosanna Carrillo (Roberto), Leticia Carrillo (Cesar), JoAnn Carrillo (Gregorio), Graciela Carrillo (Alfredo) and her brother; Leandro Carrillo, Jr. (Amanda).
An evening vigil and Holy Rosary will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 10:00 am, both held at the St. Pius X Center, 2257 E. Cedar Ave. Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery, 201 W. University.
Margaret J. (Peggy) Turner
Margaret J. (Peggy) Turner died the morning of July 18th at the Aspen House Care Home just 19 days after the death of her husband C. Russell Turner. She was born in San Diego, CA on February 4, 1927. She had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease seven years ago while living in Green Valley.
She is survived by her daughter, Terry Challis and her husband Ron; by her son Tom Turner and his partner Cathy Cox; by her brother, Robert L. Smith and his wife Randee, of Bonsall, CA; and her grandson Brandon Turner.
Peggy was a resident of Flagstaff since 1960. She did work as a receptionist for Dr. Kerry Marsh, and later for dentist Boyd Tobler after working as a housewife and mother. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority while attending the University of Oregon before marrying Russ in 1946.
In lieu of a memorial or service the family will hold a celebration of life and share memories of a happier time at Lake Powell, October 2nd, 2010. Russ and Peggy lived on a house boat on Lake Powell during the happiest years of their retirement, and the family shared memories of boating on Lake Powell from 1963 when the lake was just filling.

Susan K. Vriesekoop
Susan K. Vriesekoop, 63, died Sunday, July 19, 2010 at her home in Parks, AZ.
She was born November 14, 1946 in Pomona, Ca to Orvel and Peggy (Potter) Vick.
Susan was a member of the church choir and the Rosary Alter Society at St. Josephs Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting and sewing.
She is survived by her husband Leo P. Vriesekoop, daughter Julie M. Larson, son Dennis Rohman, sister Barbara McWilliams and brother Jim Vick, 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 3:30 followed by an Evening Vigil Holy Rosary at 5:30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 900 w. Grant Ave., Williams, AZ. Funeral Mass will be Friday, July 23, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiating will be Reverend Billy Cosco.
Shaelyn Sarah Wilson
Shaelyn Sarah Wilson, 12, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010
She was born October 21, 1997 in flagstaff, AZ to Samuel and Sandra (Begay) Wilson. Maternal Clans are Bitterwater/Deer Spring Paternal clans Red House/Red Bottom.
Shaelyn loved music, drawing, gymnastics, looking at stars, making her own jewelry, horses and hiking in Sedona.
She is survived by her parents, Samuel and Sandra, sisters Samara, Shanna, and Sabrina, brother Samuel Wilson, Jr.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 26, 2010 at 10:00 am at Flagstaff Church of the Nazarene 3505 E. Soliere Ave, Flagstaff, AZ followed by burial at Citizens Cemetery.
Contributions can be made at any Arizona Central Credit Union branch under Shaelyn Wilson.
Julie Pickens
Julie T. Pickens, who lived part time in Flagstaff, died May 7, 2009.
Mrs. Pickens was born in Baltimore, Md., and was raised in Virginia. She graduated from Blackstone College for Women in Virginia. She is also a graduate of the Strayer Business College, in Baltimore. She was married to Dennis Knight Pickens in 1942 in the Washington National Cathedral, later residing in New York and Connecticut. The family moved to Phoenix in 1966. She later married Sidney E. Martin of Phoenix, who died in 1992. Mrs. Pickens is survived by son Dennis C. Pickens of Chandler; and dear friend and companion Zed Veale of Flagstaff.
She was preceded in death by son Brooks E. Pickens.
Services already have taken place.
Inurnment was in the Pickens' niche at Green Acres Cemetery.
