Joshua Amos Pete
Joshua Amos Pete, 23 of Flagstaff died on November 16, 2009. He was born on April 26, 1986 in Chinle, AZ to Amos H. and Deborah Michelle (Smith) Pete.
Mr. Pete attended Christensen Elementary School and Mount Elden Middle School and graduated with honors from Coconino High School, in 2004. After graduating from high school he wanted to serve his tribe, his community and most of all to serve his country. Mr. Pete enlisted in the United States Army attending basic training and advanced infantry training at Fort Benning, GA. He was also stationed at Fort Polk, LA where he deployed and served a tour in Afghanistan with the 4th Brigade, 10th Mountain Division.
He served as a fire team leader where he and his unit conducted numerous combat operations. He earned awards which include the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Metal, Global War on Terrorism Service Metal, Humanitarian Service Metal, Expert Infantry Badge and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in May 2008 and was currently attending Northern Arizona University where he was majoring in Visual Communications and Graphic Design.
Mr. Pete is survived by his parents; Amos H. and Deborah Michelle (Smith) Pete of Flagstaff, sister; Clarissa, maternal grandmother; Shirley M. Smith and many relatives and close friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2009, at 10:00 am at the Federated Community Church, 400 W. Aspen Ave. in Flagstaff, located at the North/West corner of Aspen Ave. and Sitgreaves St. Interment will follow services at 1:00 pm at the Veterans Section of the Citizens Cemetery, 1300 S. San Francisco St. Veterans honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard, American Legion, Post 3, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1709, Marine Corps League, San Francisco Peaks Detachment #912 and the Military Order of Purple Heart, Post 793.
Ron Lichon
Ron Lichon, 68, died Saturday, August 15, 2009 in Flagstaff, AZ.
He was born December 13, 1940 in Saginaw, MI.
Ron servied 8 years in the Army, loved his family, noir movies, books and Jazz.
He is survived by his loving wife Carol Lichon, daughters; Kris Ahern (Kevin) and Lori Buentello (Pedro), son Daniel Lichon of Denver, CO, parents Edward Lichon and step-mothe Marge Lichon, sister Janet A Campeau, brothers; Keith of Ocieanside, CA, Kenneth of Saginaw, MI and step brotherDavid Thompson.
Ron is preceded in death by his mother Anne Lichon, brother David Licho, step sister Barb Denome.
A samll service will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at 11:00 at Lozano’s Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N. Fourth Street, Flagstaff, AZ 86004.
Patricia Ann Hess
Patricia Ann Hess, age 66, died Sunday, October 24, 2004 in Parks, AZ.
She was born August 30, 1938 in St. Paul, Minnesota, a daughter of Leonard and Lorraine Sherman Houle.
Patricia loved life and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia Clendenning, four grandchildren and three brothers Michael Houle, Rick Houle and Greg Houle.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents and her son Bobby Riddle.
A private family service will be held at a later date.

Glenn Edward McGrath
Glenn Edward McGrath, 79, died March 8, 2009.
Born July 14, 1929 in Rochester, NY to Edward and Edna May (Robarge) McGrath.
He enjoyed fishing and playing golf.
Glenn is survived by his daughter, Laura J. McGrath of Flagstaff, sons, James E. (Kristin) McGrath of RI, Mark E. (Leilani) McGrath of Las Vegas, NV, stepson Pete (April) Vomvas of Las Vegas, NV, sisters, Norma M. Burnett of CA, Barbara A. Blake, of Las Vegas, NV, 5 grand children and 3 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in deat by his wife Pauline Needles McGrath and sister Patricia M. Griffin.
Roy Lovato
Roy Lovato, age 74, of Flagstaff, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 3, 2009 surrounded by his loved ones. Roy was born in Flagstaff to the late Melecio and Eufemia Lobato on June 21, 1934. He served in the military with a tour of duty in the Korean War. He had a passion for running and entered and completed many marathons throughout his life. He enjoyed watching boxing, never missed an Arizona Diamondbacks game and he enjoyed hunting as a young man. Roy lived in St. Johns, Arizona for the last decade and loved to plant and watch his fruit trees flourish. Roy is survived by his wife, Norma Lovato, daughters, Sylvia Huereña (Lupe), Bobby Figueroa (Ambrose), Cynthia Lovato, Jackie Lovato, Claudia Lovato, sons, Gino Lovato (Michelle), Roy Lovato Jr., his siblings, Solomon Lobato (Becky), Guggie Moore (Jim), Vennie Gracia (Dave), Isabel Drosis (Chris), Vickie Arias, twenty grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Holy Rosary will be at 7 p.m on Thursday, Feb. 5th, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel, 224 S Kendrick St., Flagstaff. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 6th at Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel. There will be a private graveside service held for the family. Flowers and donations may be sent to Lozano’s Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N Fourth Street.
Harry Loupas Sr.
Harry Loupas Sr. was born August 28th 1919, he entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on February 9, 2009 at age 89, in Flagstaff Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rose Loupas, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Diamontina Loupas, his son Harry JR. and wife Sally, from Prescott, AZ., daughter Carol Mace, and husband John from Williams, AZ. He has 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
He served as a Sergeant in the United States Air force during WWII, from April 1943 to February 1946. He was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, where he lived for most of his life. He worked at Northrop Corporation in Hawthorne, California for 28 ½ years, in engineering, as a Contract Analyst. He retired as an Engineering Data Manager. After his retirement, he resided in Smoot, Wyoming and later moving to Joshua Tree, California and has spent the last 2 ½ years in Williams, AZ, To be closer to his children. He was a gentle, kind, soft spoken, sincere man, who had a sense of humor and wittiness that is comparable to none. His ability to see the positive side of life, made us all want to be better people.
He was laid to rest on February 17, 2009, with a Military Honor Guard Service, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and all who knew him were blessed.
We will miss him and he will forever be remembered in our hearts.
Betty Ellen Henderson
Betty Ellen Henderson, 86, of Flagstaff, AZ, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009.
She was born October 6, 1922 in Seattle, WA.
Betty is survived by her husband William J. Henderson (Jack) and son William P. Henderson (Pat), and two grandchildren.
Services will be private.
Mary Harding
Mary Harding was born January 27th in Paris, TX, and passed away in her slumber February 14th at Pine Meadows Rest Home in Flagstaff, AZ.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother...and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents June and Alpha Wilkins, her husband Allen Harding, her daughter Joann Carlton, sisters Lizzie Blackman, Lula Brown, Bertha Fronibarger, Cassie Hill, and her brother Fred Wilkins.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara Sweet, her former son-in-law Rafe Sweet Jr., her grandson Rafe Sweet III, her sister Henrietta Wilkins, and a grand host of nieces and nephews.
The celebration of her life will take place Friday, February 20th at First Missionary Baptist Church, located at 219 S. Elden.
Viewing will begin at 10:30a.m., and will end once the service begins at 11:00a.m.
Burial will take place at Flagstaff Citizen's Cemetery.
Elizabeth Turmo
Elizabeth Turmo, 71, of Flagstaff died on Monday, January 12, 2009 at the Flagstaff Medical Center. Mrs. Turmo was born on January 14, 1937 in Upstate, New York to John and Eva Bacon. She moved to Arizona in 1969. She worked as an office supervisor and an active member of the Phoenix Revival Center Apostolic Church in Phoenix. In 2007 she and her husband moved to Flagstaff to be near their family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 3 years Reverend J.T. Turmo, her children Reverend Donald (Belinda) Bates, Reverend Russell (Theresa) Bates, Christina (Tom) Hart of Flagstaff, Susan (Jim) Garcia of Turlock, CA grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, a son who died at birth, two previous husbands, Donald Bates of New York and Leroy Simmons of Phoenix, AZ.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11:00 am at Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 2585 E. 7th Ave. Flagstaff, AZ, officiated by her son, Pastor Donald Bates, and a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 10:00 am at Riverside Church of God in Christ, 419 S. Verde St., Flagstaff, AZ, officiated by Pastor Raymond Flemons. Interment will be at a later date at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix.
Emily Garcia Alonso (Nanny)
Emily Garcia Alonso (Nanny) passed away Friday, March 26th 2010 at The Peaks Nursing Home in Flagstaff. She was 93.
She was born in El Paso, Texas on March 30th, 1917 to Manuel and Maria Garcia. Mrs. Alonso attended Loretto Academy, which was a private, all girls Catholic school in Santa Fe, NM. She also attended school in Los Angeles, CA.
She spent her summers in Flagstaff and finally settled here with her first husband, Ralph Juarez Sr. They had four children from this marriage, Hortense De Lintt (Robert), Delphine Sainz (Rojelio), Ralph Juarez Jr. (Debra) and Richard (Maurice) Juarez. She was a member of The Guadalupanas of Guadalupe Catholic Parish and was also a Cursillista which is person in the Catholic faith that strives to assist people of faith become more fully the unique person that God created them to be.
Mrs. Alonso and her family owned The Motel Sierra Vista for many years. She finally sold it so that she could enjoy her family. She enjoyed cooking and listening to her large collection of music and enjoyed baking things to share with friends.
In July of 1970 Emily married her second husband, Pablo Alonso and they shared 40 happy years together.
Mrs. Alonso leaves behind her husband, 2 daughters and one son as well as 12 grandchildren, 18 great grand children and 4 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, two sisters, Alice and Stella, a brother, Ray, her son Richard (Rico) Juarez and a grandson, Thomas De Lintt.
Holy Rosary will be held Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 10:00 am followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 am both will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel, 224 S Kendrick Street, Flagstaff, AZ. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
