Charles "Charlie" Raymond Godwin
Charles "Charlie" Raymond Godwin, 67, of Parks, died Sept. 15, 2009, at Flagstaff Medical Center. He was born on Sept. 27, 1941, in Santa Monica, Calif.
He loved life and taking care of his Appalosa horses was his biggest joy. He was a cowboy at heart. He served the country as an honored soldier in the Vietnam war (1965), and received a Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross and air medal award. He also enjoyed riding one of his horses in parades in Dodge City, Kansas, where he lived for 25 years. Once a year, he would take a small group of people to the Red River area in New Mexico on a cowboy camping expedition. He did all the cooking and guided trails by horseback.
He moved to Flagstaff from Dodge City to be with his sister and brother in June 1996.
He is survived by his sister, Sharon Godwin Fox, brother Bill Godwin, brother-in-law Gary O. Fox, all of Flagstaff, two uncles, an aunts and numerous cousins, all of the Derby, Kansas area and his aunt in Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five uncles, two aunts and several cousins.
Lozano's Flagstaff Mortuary handled cremation. There will be no funeral as requested by Mr. Godwin.
A memorial service will be Sunday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. at the American Legion, 204 W. Birch Ave., Flagstaff.
Christopher Jude Haley
Christopher Jude Haley, age 46, died Monday, May 02, 2005 in Flagstaff, AZ.
He was born February 22, 1959 in Providence, Rhode Island, son of Robert Charles and Barbara Sheridan Haley.
Christopher enjoyed his dogs and birds, hiking, and nature, and was known for his kindness and always smiling.
He is survived by his companion, Eugene Dedman, brother, Kevin Haley of East Freetown, Massachusetts, sister, Nancy-Jane Courtens of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, two nieces and two nephews.
Christopher is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
Robert Brinias
Robert Brinias, age 88, died Monday, October 25, 2004 at his home in Williams.
He was born December 29, 1915 in Williams, AZ.
Robert was a life long resident of Williams except for the time he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps camps and some months in California. He was a Santa Fe Ticket and Telegraph Operator and later a partner in West End Grocery in Williams until he retired in 1980.
He loved watching sports, collecting rocks, and family pictures.
Robert is survived by his son Robert Brinias of Fresno, CA, his daughter Patricia Evans of Mesa, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and his sisters Helen Mullins of Phoenix, Sara Maestas of Port Angeles, WA, Petra Watson of Phoenix and Teresa Sandoval of Tempe.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marciana, son, Alfred and his sister Virginia Reynosa.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Williams. A prayer Vigil will be held on Friday at 7:00 p.m. with a visitation following at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will be at Williams City Cemetery.
Don Rosalez
Don Rosalez, age 83 of Flagstaff was called home to the Lord on September 22, 2009. He was born on July 30, 1926 to Concepcion and Simona Rosalez. He resided in Clarkdale, Az. until he enlisted in the US Navy in 1944 where he served on the USS Houston. After serving his country he married his sweetheart, Esther Fajardo of Flagstaff where eventually they made their home and raised their children.
Don gained state wide notoriety as an outstanding fast pitch pitcher where some of his accomplishments included several no hitters and his most memorable was him pitching a championship two hitter despite a broken finger on his pitching hand. He was also known for his back breaking change up and his knuckle ball. After softball, Don took up bowling where with his natural athletic abilities he was able to achieve a perfect 300 game and where he also became a member of the 700 Club. Don’s love for sports did not end there; he enjoyed the game of golf where at the age of 80 he shot his first hole in one. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends playing billiards.
Don spent his early working years with the Flagstaff Lumber Co. and the Santa Fe Railroad. He spent most of his career working in the vending industry. Companies included CocaCola Bottling Co., Flagstaff Vending, Hi Line Vending/PepsiCola. Don’s charismatic personality made him a favorite with all his clients and co-workers where he established many lifelong friendships.
Don was a devoted father, grandfather, and a favorite uncle to many. He enjoyed family gatherings and loved to sing and play the guitar. He was a fun loving spirit, the hit of the party, and invented many dance moves. Don brought love, joy and inspiration to his family. He will be missed by all and leaves a big emptiness in all our lives. May Jesus and the angels welcome him with open arms.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Esther; his brothers Guadalupe, Antolin and Juan; his sisters Mary Huerta and Lorenza Mancilla and grandson David. He is survived by his brother Joe of Ajo; son Don Jr (Alice) of Flagstaff; daughter Loretta Gonzalez (Robert) of Phoenix; grandchildren Donald III, Sheila, Julie, Diego, Jorge, Amanda and Steven; seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and many nephews and nieces.
Visitation is scheduled for 6:00PM on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe with the Rosary beginning at 7:00PM.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Monday, September 28, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Sharon LaHaie Meilbeck Wiessmann
Sharon Wiessmann, or Shari as she was known to her many friends, passed away on Saturday September 19, at the Olivia White Hospice Home, with her family at her side. Shari was born to Lawrence X. LaHaie and Margaret C. Grawey on May 20th, 1939 in Cheboygan, Michigan.
Shari was married to Norman B. Wiessmann on January 14th, 1978. After selling their Flower business in Illinois, Shari and Norm moved to Flagstaff in August 2004. For over 40 years Shari’s passion was being a floral designer. She was a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers and co-owner of Norms’ Flower Cottage and Norm’s Chalor Flowers in Illinois.
Although Shari was most currently a resident of Flagstaff, she has also lived in Brookfield, Burr Ridge, Hinsdale, and Orland Park, Illinois, where she still has many friends and acquaintances. Shari had so love for each and every member of her family, and although very sad and tragic, her illness and death has brought us closer together as a family. She loved her husband Norm and they were soul-mates. Shari is survived by her husband Norm, as well as first husband David A. Meilbeck, daughters Meg Machacek and Karen Golden, sons Larry, Phillip, and Jeff Meilbeck, as well as ten grandchildren – Marcus, Michelle, Cassidy, Caitlin, Courtney, Robert, Daniel, Michael, Lauren, and Mandolin.
A Memorial Service and Reception will be held in her honor on Friday September 25th, at 10:00 am at Flagstaff Federated Community Church, 400 west Aspen Ave., Flagstaff, AZ

Jimmy Martinez
Jimmy Martinez, age 58, died Thursday, September 23, 2004 in Cottonwood.
He was born December 22, 1945 in Reserve, NM, a son of Louis and Carmen Villalobos Martinez.
Mr. Martinez is an Army Veteran who served in Korea from 1967 to 1969. He loved to collect Route 66 memorabilia, playing darts and hanging out with Mel at the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his son Jeremy Martinez; daughters Cindy (Carlos) Candelaria of Albuquerque, NM, Jamie (Chester) Largo of Flagstaff, Brandy Martinez of Lenoir, NC, and Ann Bishop of Cornville; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother Carmen Martinez; his brothers Louis Jr. Martinez, Jake Martinez, Max Martinez, and Rudy Martinez; and his sisters Stella Barras, Phyllis Martinez, Jenny Romero and Sarah Duran.
Mr. Martinez is preceded in death by son Jimmy Martinez, his father Louis Martinez, his loving companion Kathy Pickering, brother Wilfred Martinez and sister-in-law Nora Martinez.
Joshua U. Ahmann
Joshua U. Ahmann, 21, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009.
Mr. Ahmann was born July 31, 1987. He attended Cromer Elementary, Mount Elden Middle School and graduated in 2006 from Coconino High School. He was a senior at Northern Arizona University studying history and art. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Ahmann is survived by his mother, Gale; father Jeff; brother Ben; his grandparents; and extended family.
No services will be held, although the family will hold a remembrance gathering at their home on Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Humane Society will be appreciated.
Linda Lynch
Linda Lynch, age 55, died Monday, September 27, 2004 in Dolores, Colorado.
She was born July 14, 1948 in Auburn, California, a daughter of Virgil and Ada Hoyt Lynch.
Linda loved the mountains and was especially fond of the San Francisco Peaks. She lived in Flagstaff for twenty years.
She was a data entry operator who loved reading books and enjoyed the outdoors.
Linda is survived by her mother Ada Lynch, her sisters Joan Lynch of Dolores, CO, Sue Muesch of Telluride, CO, Mary (Danny) Wright of Dove Creek, CO, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father Virgil Lynch and her sister Paula Moses.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Citizens Cemetery 800 S. Verde in Flagstaff.
