William Richard Paraska
William Richard Paraska, age 56, died Thursday, February 3, 2005 in Flagstaff, AZ.
He was born May 31, 1948 in Denver, Colorado, a son of Robert and Mary Ann Orlin Paraska.
William graduated from Trinity High School in 1966 and then served in the Army Reserves from 1966 to 1970. After retiring from Ball Glass he settled in Bull Head City, Arizona. During his years with Ball Glass he lived in Washington, PA, Boston, MA and Madiera, CA.
William was a member of the First Christian Church, a member of the Glass Workers Union and coached football through the Brownson House in Washington, PA.
He was a dedicated sports fan, season ticket holder for the Pittsburgh Penguins for many years. He collected sports memorabilia and was an avid reader of Civil War history.
William is survived by his loving daughter, Ruth Elizabeth Paraska of Ashburn, VA.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Services will be held in Washington, PA at a later date.
Janet B. Evans
Janet B. Evans, 67, of Flagstaff, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, in Flagstaff.
She was born Dec. 11, 1942, in Springfield, Ohio.
Mrs. Evans was a retired social worker and a member of Kappa Alpha Theta at Ohio State University and Angel Tree.
She is survived by her husband, Gerry B. Evans; daughters Sally Crosthwait of Torrance, Calif., and Downey Blount (Jeff) of Marin County, Calif.; stepdaughter Sally Cook (David) of Glendale, Mo.; stepson Eric Evans (Sarah) of Glendale, Mo.; brother Bert D. Barnes (Martha) of Springfield, Ohio; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, L. V. Barnes; mother Betzy Barnes; and daughter Christine Hughes.
There will be no visitation or services. Memorial contributions may be made to Family Food Center.
Raymond E. Essing
Raymond E. Essing passed away on Saturday, February 5th at the Kachina Point Health Care center in Sedona, Arizona. He died peacefully in his sleep from complications of cardio pulmonary disease. Ray was born on November 17th 1920 in Butler, New Jersey. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Annette hopper of Valatie, New York, 7 grandchildren, and his wife, Margaret Atwood-Essing of Flagstaff, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his son, Bud Essing, and two former wives, Georgiana and Maria.
Ray proudly served in WWII in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged on February 1st 1946. He was employed at the Singer Company for over 17 years, retiring in 1976. He was active in the Butler community as a volunteer fireman for over 20 years and served as a city councilman. Ray was a lifelong fisherman and hunter, and loved the outdoors. He was also an active member in Flagstaff's local American Legion Post.
Ray will be remembered in a memorial service at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 10, 2005. His ashes will be interred in the family plot located in Butler New Jersey. Graveside services to be announced at a later date.
Martha Fields
Martha Fields passed away suddenly and unexpectedly Saturday morning, October 11, 2008. She was 81 years old. She is survived by her children, Brandon Fields, Teresa Morgan, Kevin Fields, and Melissa Jerrell. She also has seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Martha (maiden name: Jerrel) was born and raised in Mt. Pleasant, IA. Her father, Bert Jerrel, was a local businessman. Her mother, Florence Van Hon, worked as a cook at Mt. Pleasant Mental Health Institute. The family attended St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.
Martha moved to Tucson, AZ, after graduating from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1945. Over the next ten years, she would have four of her five children: Jerry, Brandon, Teresa, and Kevin.
In September of 1960, Martha moved to Kayenta, AZ, where she worked as secretary for Kayenta Boarding School for 13 years. There she had her fifth child, Melissa. Her first grandchild, Angelee, was also born in Kayenta, whom she helped care for. All five of her children graduated from Monument Valley High School.
In the 1970s, Martha returned to school to earn her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. For the next 15 years, she once again served in the Navajo Nation, this time as a special education teacher (in Dennehotso and Kayenta) and coordinator (in Tuba City). Martha retired in 1992.
She lost her oldest son, Jerry, to diabetes in 2005. He taught elementary school in Chilchinbeto, AZ, and then in Cortez, CO. Brandon is a retired nuclear engineer living with his wife, Mary, in the Washington, D.C. area. Teresa is the assistant superintendent of schools in Coconino County and currently lives with her husband, Jim, in Flagstaff, AZ. Kevin is an educator in health sciences living with his wife, Carole, in Grand Rapids, MI. Melissa is a chemist at the power plant in Page, AZ. Angelee is an attorney practicing in Northern Arizona while living in Flagstaff.
Martha has been a constant source of comfort and inspiration for her family. As a source of comfort, she loved us unconditionally. As a source of inspiration, she taught us to search always for truth. She is the rock of this family and she will be dearly missed.

Cassandra Compton
Cassandra Compton, age 52, died Saturday, January 22, 2005 in Williams.
She was born April 12, 1952 a daughter of Lawrence Bradley and Pauline Thelma Sanders Simmons.
Sandy was a much loved mother and grandmother with a heart of gold. She loved everyone and was loved in return. Most importantly, she loved our Lord. She will be remembered by all whose lives she has touched.
She has left behind two daughters Deborah (Jesse) Lemons- Cooper of Peoria and Terri (Jeff) Lemons-Jacobi of Peoria, her precious grandson, numerous brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, and her brothers and sisters in Christ.
Sandy is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Lonnie Simmons.
Memorial Services will be held in Williams, Arizona at the Calvary Chapel located 117 South Slagel Street on January 28, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. and in Glendale, Arizona at the Church at Arrowhead located 7902 West Union Hills Dr. on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 11:30 a.m..
Guy Madman
Guy Madman, age 88, died Monday, January 17, 2005 in Flagstaff.
He was born March 16, 1916 in Tonalea, AZ, a son of Rex and Edis Yanidza.
In 1942 Mr. Madman married Marie Carr in Dry Lake, AZ.
He worked for the Railroad for 20 years. He also was an accomplished silversmith, mechanic and carpenter.
Mr. Madman was a traditional Navajo of Catholic faith.
He was known to be a boxer in his younger days. He loved horses and sheep, but most of all he loved his wife and family.
Mr. Madman is survived by his loving wife Marie, son Ned Roy Madman, Step-son Homer Carr, daughters Diana Williams and Anna Madman, sister Clara and Henrietta Bedonie and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Jimmy Roy Madman, daughter Helen, brother Robert Daw, and sisters Phoebie and Lucy.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the family plot between mile post 345 and 346 3 miles west of Inscription House cross roads.
Keith Russell Rickett
Keith Russell Rickett, age 54, died Monday, April 25th, 2005 in Flagstaff, AZ.
He was born March 13, 1951 in Livingston, Montana, son of Raleigh and Vivien Ross Rickett.
Keith married Wanda Ingraham on July 4th, 1980, they later divorced.
Keith attended Northern Arizona University, he enjoyed reading the Bible, fellowship, playing cards, hiking, and camping. He was raised in Montana before moving to Arizona for 30 years.
Keith is survived by his mother, Vivien Ross Rickett, brothers, Daniel H. (Rose) of Pemberton, CA, Thomas E. Rickett of Prescott Valley, AZ, Kenneth R. Rickett of Flagstaff, AZ.
He is preceded in death by his father, Raleigh Raymond Rickett.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 02, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N. Fourth Street.
Visitation will be held Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Interment will be at Citizens Cemetery, 800 S. Verde.
