Robert Owen Bratcher
Robert Owen Bratcher, 76, beloved husband, father and granddad, died September 18, 2009.
He was born May 8, 1933 in Council Hill, OK to George and Ellen (Brown) Bratcher.
Bob’s joys in life were his grandchildren, sharing time with family and friends and residing in Flagstaff.
He is survived by his wife Vicki, son Christopher, daughter Stacia Burton (Robert) and grandchildren: Katrina, Clark, Quincey, and Kylie along with many nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in death by parents and 8 siblings.
His jovial personality will be missed by all who knew him.
Private burial will be held in the Bakersfield National Cemetery.
Mary Carrillo Ruiz
Mary Carrillo Ruiz, age 65, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 in Phoenix surrounded by her family.
She was born September 15, 1939 in St. Johns, Arizona, a daughter of Leandro B. Carrillo and Anna Maria Candelaria Carrillo.
Mrs. Ruiz married Eugenio “Jose” Ruiz on May 15, 1987 in Phoenix.
She grew up in the White Mountains area, moved to Flagstaff in 1970 and then on to Phoenix in 1987.
Mary loved cooking, bingo and casinos. She enjoyed company and most of all she loved being with family.
She is survived by her loving husband Eugenio “Jose” Ruiz; two sons Ray (Dee) Baca of Flagstaff and Leroy Baca of Flagstaff; daughters Margaret (Floyd) Jackson of Flagstaff, Alice Macias of Flagstaff Annie Chavez of Flagstaff; two stepsons Javier Ruiz of Flagstaff and Santos Ruiz of Flagstaff; sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers Abel (Sadie) Carrillo of Flagstaff, Daniel Mora of Lake Side, E.G. Mora of Lake Side, and Vincent Mora of Flagstaff; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents and four sisters.
A viewing will be held Monday, March 28, 2005 at St. Pius X 2257 E. Cedar in Flagstaff from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. with Holy Rosary following at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery 201 W. University Dr.
Renee Cordova
Renee Cordova, 36, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009.
She was born July 26, 1973 in Winslow, AZ to Benny and Jane Cordova.
Renee volunteered for a number of non-profit organizations here in Flagstaff and was on the Coordinating Council of Mexican Affairs.
She is survived by her parents Beeny J and Jane Cordova, sister Cathy Garcia and brother Joe Cordova.
Renee is preceded in death by her brother Benny J. Cordova
Visitation will be Friday, September 11, 2009 from 9-10 a.m. at St. Pius X, 2257 E. Cedar, Flagstaff, followed by the Rosary at 10:00 and Mass at 11:00, interment will follow at Citizens Cemtery, 1300 S. San Francisco St.

William Joe Ryan
William Joe Ryan, age 71, died Tuesday, March 01, 2005 at Flagstaff Medical Center.
He was born December 9, 1933 in Clemenceau, Arizona, a son of James William and Reba York Ryan.
William married Marjorie (Martie) Stalnaker on January 4, 1953 in Yuma, Arizona.
He served in the U.S. Army Airborne during the Korean War.
William lived in San Diego, California prior to moving to Flagstaff in 1962. He was a service coordinator at Babbit Ford for twenty-two years and a machinist at Gore for fifteen years. They retired in Camp Verde.
His family was very important to him and he showed his love for them daily. He touched many people with his great sense of humor, and kind heart.
William is survived by his loving wife Martie, two sons Jim (Pam) Ryan of San Diego, California and Mike (Julie) Ryan of Flagstaff, and four grandchildren Greg, Steve, Keith, and Lindsay.
At his request no services will be held.
Michael Kabotie
Michael Kabotie, 67, died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Flagstaff Medical Center after battling the H1N1 flu and associated complications.
Mr. Kabotie was from the village of Shungopavi, located on Second Mesa on the Hopi reservation, but had also lived many years in Flagstaff and New Mexico. He was a renowned and respected Hopi painter, silversmith and poet, a loving father and grandfather, and a dedicated partner.
Mr. Kabotie is survived by his older sister, Hattie Lomayesva; his children, Paul Kabotie, Wendell Sakiestewa, Claire Chavarria, Ed Kabotie, Meg Adakai and Max Kabotie; his partner, Ruth Ann Border; his ex-wife, Frances Fayssoux Kabotie; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his Hopi clan and blood relatives; and his many friends from all over the world.
He truly touched the hearts of many.
Mr. Kabotie created many beautiful works of art, among them murals at Sunset Crater and the Museum of Northern Arizona, and a gate he designed to look like a piece of overlay jewelry at the Heard Museum in Phoenix.
He will also be honored as the featured artist at the Heard Indian Market in March of 2010.
A memorial service will be Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Colton House of the Museum of Northern Arizona.

Lynn C. Russell
Lynn C. Russell, age 60, died Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at Flagstaff Medical Center.
He was born October 31, 1943 in Luna, New Mexico, a son of Clark Alexander and Ruby Jane Peters Russell.
Lynn is survived by his son Waylon Russell; his daughters Rae Lynn Ross and Stephanie Ann Harding; seven grandchildren; and two sisters Betty Martin and Lorraine Davis.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Services are being held in New Mexico.
Arrangements are under the direction of Flagstaff Mortuary.
Phillip Dan Staires
Phillip Dan Staires, 50, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009.
Mr. Staires was born in Kansas City, Mo., on July 23, 1959, to Mary K. and E. Harlin Staires. He was the youngest of three children. He and his family moved to Flagstaff in 1970, where he attended Kinsey Elementary School, East Flagstaff Junior High and graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1977. He attended Northern Arizona University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in geography and planning.
Mr. Staires worked for many years at NAU, beginning with grounds and retiring as State Fire Marshall. He was a great softball pitcher and an avid outdoorsman who participated in many seasons of hunting with his friends and family and lately with his youngest son, Lucas. He liked to refer to his home as "Elk Camp" where he enjoyed cooking, and incorporating his motto "The sloppier the better!" He also excelled at being a son, father, brother, husband and friend. He will be painfully missed.
Mr. Staires is survived by his wife of 23 years, Ramona; sons Jacob Lee and Lucas Dan; parents E. Harlin and Kit Staires; brother Steven (Rita); sister Deborah (George); many nieces and nephews; and many "adopted" sons.
An informal celebration of his life will be Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at 3920 N. Tam O'Shanter Drive.
