Luciana (Lucy) Martinez Reyes

Luciana (Lucy) Martinez Reyes, 84 passed away into God’s loving arms on Friday, March 20, 2009.

Lucy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a person cherished by all.

She was born on July 31, 1924 to her parents Rafael Martinez and Viviana Estrada in Magdalena, NM. Lucy is a long time resident of Williams, AZ

She is preceded in death by her husband Gavino Reyes, her parents, four of her children, one grandchild and one brother.

Lucy is survived by her daughter Cecilia (Jim) Lampkin of Little Rock, AR, Victoria Oakman of Williams, AZ, Marcella (Danny) Mejia of Williams, AZ, Ruben (Loretta) Reyes of Ash Fork, AZ, David (Dona) Reyes of Ash Fork, AZ, Tony (Jeanna) Reyes of Bakersfield, CA, Vivian (Ivan) Stridham of Tucson, AZ Paul (Cecil) Reyes of Tucson, AZ Ramona (Tracy) Warner of Williams, AZ, Two sisters; Lena Lucero and Helen Jaurequi, a brother Andrew Jaquez, 34 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren.

Evening Vigil and Holy Rosary will be Tuesday, March 24 at 7:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 900 West Grant Ave, William, AZ. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday March 25, 2009 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

D. E. “Sandy” Welch

Durward Eldon Welch, born in Atoka, OK on May 11th, 1923, passed away on Wednesday, March 25th, 2008 after a courageous year-long battle with Alzheimer’s. Sandy passed away peacefully, surrounded by family & friends, at Sunrise of Chandler.

Sandy lived a life, just shy of 85 years, as a reputable contractor, avid outdoorsman and beloved family man.

A caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Sandy’s life revolved around the love for his family. Sandy is survived by his wife Visenta, sister; Shirley Moore, daughters; Josie (Ray) Baca, Cookie (Jerry) Tackett, Nita (Ed) Tucker, Sandra (Bud) Woodruff, Martina (Gilbert) Velasquez, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many extended family members.

A viewing will be held at Lozano’s Flagstaff Mortuary, Friday evening at Flagstaff Mortuary (2545 N. 4th St / 774-1467) at 7:00 pm. Graveside services will be provided by Lozano’s Flagstaff Mortuary at Citizens Cemetery on Saturday, March 29th, 2008 at 10:00 am.

Vivien Ross Rickett

Vivien Ross Rickett, 91, of Flagstaff, AZ, died April 24, 2009

She was born March 21, 1918 in Berkley, CA to Edgar and Ruby Mae (Manning) Ross.

Vivien was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Rebekah Lodges since 1950, she moved to Flagstaff, AZ in 1970 working as a bakery assistant and a housekeeper. She loved ceramic painting and became quiet good at it.

She is survived by her sons; Daniel Harry Pemberton and Kenneth Raleigh Rickett, 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Vivien is preceded in death by her husband Raleigh Raymond Rickett, sons; Keith Russell Rickett and Thomas Edgar Rickett and sister Ellen Ross Dean.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 1:00 pm at Lozano’s Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N. Fourth Street, Flagstaff, AZ, interment following at Citizens Cemetery.

Paula C. Gutierrez

Paula C. Gutierrez, 83, of Flagstaff, died Sunday April 6, 2008

She was born October 17, 1924 in Flagstaff, AZ to Rey and Mercedes (Serna) Chavez

Paula liked to read, do embroidery, go shopping, dancing, traveling and being with family. She was a past member of Guadalupanas and the Alter Society, a den mother for cub scouts, a PTA member for the Guadalupe School, and St. Pius X craft guild.

She is survived by her sons; J. Gregory Gutierrez and Anthony (Jennifer) Gutierrez, daughters; Yvonne (Lee) Prickett; Rosie (Ray) Bojorquez; JoAnne (Paul) Neumann; Nancy (Kim) Leonard; Marie “Toni” (Mike) Merritt, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren.

Paula is preceded in death by her husband; Jose G. Gutierrez, parents Mercedes and Rey Chavez and sister Louella Jaramillo

The Evening Vigil and Holy Rosary will be Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 7:00 pm at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel, 16 W. Cherry, Flagstaff, AZ. The Funeral Mass will be Friday April 11, 2008 at 10:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Chapel, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery.

Danny Beckett

Danny Beckett age 67, of Flagstaff, passed away early on the morning of April 22, 2009

He was born July 26, 1941 in New Boston, Ohio to John and Margaret (Chase) Beckett. He grew up in Glendale, AZ. Growing tired of the hot summers in Glendale Dan and his family relocated to Flagstaff in 1989. He enjoyed holidays and spending time with his family he also loved spending time with his son Dannie at his furniture store.

Danny is survived by his wife of 47 years Mary (Christie) Beckett and his children: Dannie Beckett, Johnny Beckett and Margaret Beckett. Brothers: Roger Beckett, Raymond Beckett and Tommy Beckett. Sisters: Patsy Beckett, Betty Magers, and Cindy Heffington, also 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his Parents John and Margaret Beckett.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Northland Hospice.

Services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Lozano’s Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N. Fourth Street, Flagstaff, AZ.

Walter Don Nicoson

Walter Don Nicoson, 69, of Williams died peacefully at his home with his wife near his side. He was born on March 2, 1939 in Pekin, IL. Mr. Nicoson served as a City of Phoenix motorcycle police officer from 1960 – 1964, during that time he was one of the motorcade officers to escort President John F. Kennedy during his visit to Phoenix. He worked for the Xerox Corporation starting in 1964 as a Technical Specialist. Walt led a group of Xerox volunteers every Wednesday evening to build wheelchair ramps for many citizens in the community. In 1994, he retired from Xerox after 30 years of faithful service. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, wildlife lover, hiker, photographer, silversmith and painter. He enjoyed making people happy, always stopped to help motorists or anyone who needed a helping hand. His love of the outdoors and wildlife brought him to volunteer as a committee member of the Phoenix chapter/RMEF and for the past 7 years as a Habitat Partner and Founding Life member of the Arizona Elk Society.
Other memberships include; Arizona Deer Association, Arizona Antelope Foundation and the Arizona Desert Big Horn Sheep Society. He also participated as a volunteer for several years as a “Hugger” for the Special Olympic Kids, and he worked the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, CA, while with Xerox.

For the past 20 years he turned his artistic talents to mostly art sculptures in steel. His work has graced the galleries in Sedona, Carefree and Scottsdale. He was commissioned to do life size metal sculptures for the Arizona Game & Fish as well as two subdivisions in the Phoenix area. He traveled throughout the West doing many art shows. He donated many pieces of his artwork to all the wildlife fundraising banquets and other fundraising events. His work in his steel was brought alive with his special artistic talents. Walt and his wife Cookie moved to Williams, Arizona, in 2003 and he designed and orchestrated the building of their artistic home in the quiet mountains, just west of Williams.

Walt was a loving husband to his wife Cookie, for 39 years and he loved his family, grandkids and great grandkids. Survivors include, his wife Cookie, sons, Brian Nicoson of Phoenix, Edward Nicoson of Washington, Colonel Gary (Beckie) Nicoson of Virginia, brothers, Everett Nicoson of Texas, Robert Nicoson of Phoenix, 9 grandkids and 4 great-grandkids. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Wilma Nicoson, his daughter Linda Nicoson and his aunt Mildred Tuley.

Cookie and her family would like to thank the RTA Hospice & Palliative Care of Flagstaff. Especially, Laura, Caroline, Jen and Phil, who provide warmth, care and love to Walt during the past six weeks. They are very professional and quickly became a part of our family.

Anna Lisa Baca

Anna Lisa Baca, 41, of Flagstaff, AZ, born February 26, 1968 was called to our Lord on April 25, 2009 surrounded by her family and friends. Anna enjoyed working at Lou Corporation with all her friends, painting, dancing, listening to music, and watching movies. Anna was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and granddaughter and a special gift from God to her parents Reuben & Shirley Baca. She is survived by her 4 sisters, Monica Baca, Paula (Gino) Mates, Shelly (Ramon) Martinez, and Yvette Baca. Anna was also loved by her niece Sabrina, and 4 nephews, Marcus, Gabriel, Nicholas, and Anthony including many cousins, aunts, and uncles. Anna was preceded in death by her beloved Grandma Lucy Salazar and many loved ones.

An Evening Vigil and Holy Rosary will be held Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 7:00 pm at St. Pius X Center, 2257 E. Cedar Ave., Flagstaff, AZ. Funeral Mass will be Friday at 10:00 am at St. Pius X Center; interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family in care of Lozano’s Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N. Fourth Street, Flagstaff, AZ 86004

Kelly Lee Priest

Kelly Lee Priest, 48, of Flagstaff died on April 9, 2008 at the Flagstaff Medical Center. She was born on April 8, 1960 to John and Jeanne (Lee) Comer in Santa Monica, California. She graduated from Santa Monica High School and attended Santa Monica College. She moved to Flagstaff in 1995 where she worked as a senior insurance specialist for Northland Home Care. She loved spending time with her family and especially her two grandchildren. Everyone who knew her would feel that they were part of her family.

Mrs. Priest is survived by her husband, Thomas Lee Priest, Sr., son, Thomas Lee Priest, Jr., daughters, Lori Priest and Jessie Priest all of Flagstaff. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her grandparents.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 12:00 Noon at the Christ’s Church of Flagstaff, 3475 E. Soliere Ave., Flagstaff.

Ross Michael Syester Sr.

Ross Michael Syester Sr., age 56, died on Thursday, August 19, 2004 in Flagstaff.

He was born June 22, 1948 in Twin Falls, Idaho, a son of Melvin and Helen Abbott Syester.

Mr. Syester moved to Flagstaff about twelve years ago with his family. He was a dedicated employee at Little America.

He loved Chevys and Harley-Davidsons and enjoyed racing.

Mr. Syester is survived by his son Ross Michael Syester Jr.of Flagstaff, daughter Kira Lynn Syester of Medford, Oregon, one granddaughter and brother George Syester.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother David Syester.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 27, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at Little America.
