Mary Eleanor Pitts
Mary Eleanor Pitts, 84, peacefully passed away on August 27, 2009 at her home in Williams, AZ. Mrs. Pitts was born on October 19, 1924 in Williams, to Mark and Katherine (Stangel) Smith. She was the fifth of seven children. After Mary graduated from high school she entered into the world of banking. Mary started her banking career in 1954 with the Arizona Bank, then as the banking industry grew she worked for First National Bank, First Interstate Bank and after many years retired in 1985 from Wells Fargo Bank. During World War II she was a member of the Harvey Girls and she traveled to Texas to entertain the troops. Mary met her only husband, Paul Lee Pitts at the Museum Club in Flagstaff, they later married and had one son, Paul Lee Piutts Jr.. Mary was a wife, mother, grandmother Banker and a very special friend to hundreds of people. Mary loved to dance and visit with friends and family. She danced through life and put smiles on many faces a long the way. Mary is the last of a generation of Americans that were proud of what they promoted in life. Pioneers! Mary’s family was one of the first familes to settle in northern Arizona. Those who knew Mary know Mary knew that she always had a smile and could brighten up anyone’s day. She was an icon in everyone’s eyes.
Mary Pitts is survived by her son, Paul Lee Pitts, Sr., grandson, Marcus Pitts, granddaughter, Renee Cahill and an unborn grandson, Paul Lee Pitts, Jr., due September 22, 2009. She is preceeded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters and her husband Paul Lee Pitts, along with many generation of other relatives.
For those who Mary Mary and her family a Celebration of Life servce has been scheduled for Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 11:00 am at the World Famous Sultana Theatre in Williams. “Be There or Be Square”.

Elizabeth T. Cavanaugh
Elizabeth T. Cavanaugh, 90, died Saturday, June 28, 2008, in Flagstaff, AZ
Born November 27, 1917 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Robert and Ida (Laird) Taupert.
Elizabeth served as a Wave (US Navy) during World War II. She was a member of the Cancer Society, Flagstaff Symphony, P.E.O. Sister and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany here in Flagstaff; she loved playing bridge at a number of clubs here in Flagstaff.
She is survived by her three sons, Bob and Rich of Tucson, AZ and John (Tresa) of Portland, OR, and four grandchildren.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents and husband Dick Cavanaugh in 1973.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Episcopal church of the Epiphany, 423 N. Beaver Street, Flagstaff, AZ.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in her name.
Herbert G. Rossmeier
Herbert G. Rossmeier, 92, died Friday, July 4, 2008. Herb was a resident of Flagstaff for the past 43 years.
Mr. Rossmeier was born on the family farm outside of Lynch, NB, the fifth of ten children to John and Bertha (Schumann) Rossmeier. He served with the US Marines during World War II and returned to Nebraska after his discharge. He began work for the Sioux Army Depot near Sidney, NB in February 1946 and married Dolores Haselhorst on September 24, 1946. Their five children were born in Sidney. In 1964 he transferred to the Navajo Army Depot near Flagstaff, AZ, retiring in 1979. He enjoyed his retirement by traveling the country to visit his children, grandchildren and relatives with Dolores and watching his beloved baseball. Herb and Dolores celebrated their 60th anniversary in September 2006.
He is survived by his five children; Dennis of Tucson, AZ, Gordon of Spencer, NB, Eileen (Jess) Meadows of Henderson, NV, Marilyn (Dale) Wirth of Flagstaff, AZ, Phyllis (Steve) Servis of Silver City, NM, four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Dolores in 2006, and all nine of his siblings and parents.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 10, 2008 at 11:00 am at St. Pius X Center, 2257 E. Cedar Ave, Flagstaff, AZ, preceded by a viewing at 10:30 am, Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, 201 W University.
Veteran’s honors will be rendered by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1709, Marine Corp League and American Legion Post #3.

Erlinda Ella Ray Garcia Diaz
Erlinda Ella Ray Garcia Diaz, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2008 at her home.
Linda was born May 15, 1956 in Flagstaff, AZ to Flora and Tony Garcia.
Her favorite hobbies were puzzles, crafting, and using her glue gun, spending time with family and friends from the VFW and American Legion. Linda was a wonderful mother figure to her various nieces and nephews and stray animals. She had been employed by the Flagstaff Public Schools and the Northern Arizona Food Bank prior to retiring.
Linda will be missed by her son Orlando Diaz (Arizona City), the love of her life Ray Stock, siblings, Toni, Betty, Chuco, Teresa, Anthony, Pauline, Russell, Pam, Lisa and Gabriel.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeannettee Diaz, her parents and siblings Miguel, Patricia and Abraham.
Rosary will be Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 9:00 am with Memorial Mass to follow at 10:00 am both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel, 224 S. Kendrick, Flagstaff, AZ, interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 201 W. University, Flagstaff, AZ.
Marguerite Ortega
Marguerite Ortega, born June 10, 1951 in Chicago, IL.
A graduate of St. Procopius High School, she graduated with a BA in Art Education from the University of Illinois of Chicago. She was a teacher for the Chicago Board of Education for 30 years.
Marguerite passed away on June 1, 2008 in Flagstaff, AZ.
She is survived by: bother, Charles Ortega, sister Laura Ortega, cousins Daniel Dominguez and Adele Dominguez, nieces and nephew Sarah Ortega, Maximillian Ortega, and Alexia Ortega.
Bonnie L. (Spear) Knowles
Bonnie L. (Spear) Knowles, 79, died Friday, June 6, 2008.
She was born in Dana, IN to George “Cal” and Enid Ammerman.
She married Russell Spear in 1955 and moved to Northern California, where they raised their children. After his death, she remarried Ralph C. Knowles and they eventually moved to Camp Verde in 1990.
Bonnie was a good wife and a proud, loving mother. She was a gentle person who lived life to the fullest. She was actively involved with the American Legion and the VFW Auxiliary. Her hobbies included gardening, refinishing furniture and collecting antiques.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years Ralph Knowles of CampVerde, AZ daughter Myrna Kerns of Villa Grove, ILL, son George Spear of Westwood, CA, daughter Dixie Spear of Cottonwood, CA., son William “Rusty” Spear of Camp Verde, AZ and daughter Julie Heisterman (David Williams), of Flagstaff, AZ, sister Rosalie Ammerman of Lake Elsinore, CA, sister Betty Anne Hines, of Brownsburg, IN and a Granddaughter Bobbi Spear of Red Bluff, CA.
Nieces and nephews and many friends also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her children’s father Russell Spear, her mother and father and her brother Rollin Ammerman.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date in Westwood, CA.

Brian Henry Strosahl, 61 of Flagstaff, died July 24, 2008
Born September 9, 1946 in New Rochelle, New York to William and Helen (Johnson) Strosahl
He served in the United States Air Force, loved photography and collecting fountain pens
Brian is survived by his companion Susan Strosahl, daughter Dawn M. Nichol, brothers; Tim, Jody and Willie, sister Meg, nephews Christopher, Lance, Mark David and George, nieces; Hunter, Caitlin, Sam and Tracey, 2 grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of life for family and friends Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 6:00 pm at 10000 E. Wapiti Trail, Flagstaff, AZ.
Kathryn Marie Gallagher
Kathryn Marie Gallagher was born in Waukegan Illinois to John and Violet Callahan on August 10, 1920. She went to the Lord on July 26, 2008 She married Lt. John J. Gallagher in 1942. After World War II they moved from Chicago to sunny Arizona and left the snow behind. She was active in many philanthropic groups, especially The Assistance League of Phoenix. Kay was preceded in death by her husband, John and son, Kevin. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Maraschiello (Jack), four grand children and six great-grand children. There will be a celebration of life mass on Saturday, August 2nd at 11 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 10815 N. 84th Street Scottsdale, AZ. Reception following. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity.
Barbara Jean Fuller
Barbara Jean Fuller, 58, of Flagstaff, AZ, died July 16, 2008.
Born December 31, 1949 in Davenport, Iowa to Robert and Louise (Reno) Hill.
Barbara was a member of the American Guild of Organists (AGO); she worked as an organist at St Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Sedona.
She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas R Fuller, daughter Rebecca Ann Fuller, mother Louise Hill and Brother Keith Hill.
A memorial service will be held August 1, 2008 at 2:00 pm at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 100 Arroyo Pinon Drive, Sedona, AZ
