Doris Marie Sharp

Doris Marie Sharp, 87, died, Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in Flagstaff, AZ

She was born July 30, 1921 in Kansas City, MO to Dorsey and Elizabeth (Quinn) Janes.

Doris was a member of the Pioneer Club, Hometowners of 29 Palms and the Red Hat Ladies, she enjoyed traveling but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Geneva Dalbeck and Elizabeth Balda, sister Jeannie Solsbee, 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Doris is preceded in death by her husband Harry Sharp, son Robert Sharp and her parents

Visitation will be held Thursday October 16, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Flagstaff Church of the Nazarene, 3505 E. Soliere, Flagstaff, AZ, Funeral Services will be Friday, October 17, 2008 at 10:00 am at the Flagstaff Church of the Nazarene, followed by interment at Citizens Cemetery, Veterans Section.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made in Doris’ name to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or online at www.cancer.org

Mrs. Vonda W. Hoskins

Mrs. Vonda W. Hoskins, 91, died peacefully of natural causes Tuesday at the Loyalton Assisted Living Community in Flagstaff.

She was born July 2, 1917, in Sherman Oaks, CA. Mrs. Hoskins graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth, TX and attended the University of Texas, Austin.

In her career, she was a homemaker and managed apartments in Texas and Mississippi. She was an office manager in Texas and Louisiana.

After retirement, she and husband Raymond owned and operated The Olde Ice Creame Shoppe of Columbus, Miss.

She was a devout Christian, and her favorite pastime was reading the Bible and attending women’s Bible studies and conferences.

Her quick wit and cheery personality was an inspiration to all.

Mrs. Hoskins was preceded in death by her parents, James J. and Gertrude G. Walker; her husband, Raymond Norris Hoskins, who was a pilot in World War II; and her brother Carl Walker.

She is survived by her son, W. Dale Hoskins, Ph.D., a professor at NAU in broadcasting; daughter-in-law Jody Hoskins; and a granddaughter, a brother A. John Bauerseisen of Joshua, Texas.

A service will be Saturday at 3pm at Journey Church of Flagstaff, 740 W. University Heights Drive, and a graveside service will be at Citizens Cemetery, in the veterans section.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Journey Church, and the First Baptist Church of Columbus, MS, Box 829, Columbus, MS 39703.

HENDERSON, GLORIA A.

Gloria A. Henderson, 86, died November 3, 2008.

Gloria was born June 7, 1922. She was preceded in death by her husband James M. Henderson.

Gloria was born in Metamora, Ohio. Gloria’s career began as a model.

She moved to Flagstaff and worked as the personal administrative assistant for Dr. Lawrence Walkup at Northern Arizona University.

Gloria and her husband Jim’s greatest passion were their horses.

Gloria and Jim did not have children but were blessed with many friends and touched many lives with their cheerful attitude, helpful nature and the love of a good laugh.

Gloria was an active member of the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Camp Verde. Visitation will be Thursday, November 13, 2008 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Lazano’s Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N. Fourth Street, Flagstaff, Arizona 86004, Tel: (928) 774-1467.

Graveside service and internment will follow at the Citizens Cemetery, Veteran’s Section, 1300 S. San Francisco Street, Flagstaff, Arizona at 1:00 p.m.

Don Loudon

Don went to be with the Lord on September 29, 2008 after a long battle with diabetes and is now at rest. This day would also be remembered as his 29th wedding anniversary to Libby Lozano Loudon, whom he met while living in Kachina Village. Don and Libby left the Flagstaff area in 1990 for Cody, Wyoming.

Don was born December 28, 1944 in Medina, Ohio. He was adopted by Clair and Deb Loudon of Akron, Ohio. He graduated fro St. John’s Military Academy in Delfield, Wisconsin in 1962.

He served our country during the Vietnam Era from 1964 to 1968. He was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base, Doolittle Air Field in Pensacola, Florida where he instructed pilots in Forward Radar Control.

Don loved to laugh, he shared his humor with so many people. His hobby was HO gauge railroad. He built dioramas and rail cars in detail. He was a proficient carpenter, a student of his mentor our Lord and Savior the greatest carpenter ever.

He is survived and will be greatly missed by his loving wife Libby Loudon, daughter of the late Antonio S. Lozano and Carmen Carter of Flagstaff, AZ. His two daughters Lisa and Michelle Loudon, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, sister-in-laws; Mickey (Ray) Sandoval, Toni (Terry) Bobadilla, Linda Garcia, brother-in-law Ruben (Clorinda) Lozano. Boyhood friends Jerome Lyons, Roscommon, MI, and Don Blodgett, Sweet Home, OR, cousin Jo Any (John) Elgenheer, Peoria, Az, and his favorite adopted friend Terry Bobadilla. He will be missed by his loving border collie “Tailwind” who faithfully was his companion this past year.

A celebration of Don’s new life will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 1:00 pm at Lozano’s Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N. 4th Street, Flagstaff, AZ followed by burial at Citizens Cemetery Veterans Section, with veterans honors provided by the American Legion Post #3, VFW Post #1709 and the Marine Corp League.

Shirley Gutierrez

Shirley Gutierrez, 51, of Flagstaff, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008

She was born January 11, 1957 in Flagstaff, Arizona to Julia Sartor.

Shirley enjoyed spending time with her grandson and going to car shows.

She is survived by her husband Rudy Gutierrez, daughter Tonia (John) Douros, sisters Judy (Pat) Driscoll and Sharon (Doug) Jones and one grandchild.

Shirley is preceded in death by her mother, Julia Sartor

Memorial Mass will be Friday, October 3, 2008 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel, 224 Kendrick, Flagstaff, AZ, followed by burial at Citizens Cemetery.

Isabel M. Padilla

In Loving Memory of Isabel M. Padilla, formally of Flagstaff, died on Monday, November 10, 2008 at her home in Prescott Valley, AZ with her family by her side.

Isabel was born September 17, 1939 in Grants, NM to Onesimo and Lucinda (Barela) Salazar.

She is survived by her loving husband Frank R. Padilla of Prescott Valley, AZ, eight children, Frank, Patricia, Lucille, Cecelia, Anthony, Dolores, and Christopher, 24 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild, 4 sisters; Liz Fajardo, Lena Benavidez, Erlinda Valencia, Shirley Baca.

We will love you forever.

The evening Vigil and Holy Rosary will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 7:00 pm at St. Pius X Chapel, 2257 E. Cedar Ave, Flagstaff, AZ, and the Funeral Mass will be Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 10:00 am at St. Pius X Chapel, interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 201 W. University Ave., Flagstaff, AZ.

William Knopp

William Knopp, age 84, passed away December 9, 2008. He was a beloved father and grandfather. He served this great country in the Navy during World War II. He worked in many different professions during his life. Later in life, after retirement from International Harvester, he completed his education to become a registered nurse. He worked most of his nursing career for Indian Health Service, part of which was in Chinle, AZ. After retirement from Indian Health Service, he worked various jobs from Walt Disney World to Wal-Mart. He worked full-time until he was diagnosed with cancer at age 81. He was buried December 11, 2008 in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. He was dedicated to God and family.

Louise Galligan DeBusk

Born 09/05/1925 in Dixon, TN

Died 11/29/2008 in Flagstaff, AZ

Survived by: son Jimmy M. (Linda) DeBusk of Flagstaff, AZ, Grandson Micheal T. (Diana) Debusk of Flagstaff, great-grandchildren; Derrick and Alannah DeBusk, sister Ann Grey, many nieces and nephews and friends.

Preceded in death by husband Thomas DeBusk, grandson Mark DeBusk, parents Noah and Lena Galligan, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Lozano’s Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N. 4th Street, Flagstaff, AZ at 11:00 am with viewing one hour before.
