Walter S. Like
Walter S. Like, 78, died on January 4, 2009 in Flagstaff at the Aspen Manor Home under the kind care of RTA Hospice. Mr. Like was born on September 30, 1930 in Chicago, IL to Stefan and Mary (Koslowski) Lykowski. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a draftsman and upon retiring moved from San Francisco to Flagstaff. Mr. Like’s loves of his life were his daughters; Cynthia McCollum, Deborah Mariage, and Candice Pelligrini, his four grandchildren, his dogs and gardening.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Lozano’s Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N. Fourth St. Inurnment will follow services at the Calvary Cemetery, 201 W. University. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to RTA Hospice, 1000 N. Humphreys St., Flagstaff, AZ 86001.
Crystal L. Pohl
Crystal L. Pohl, 48, of Flagstaff, died June 28, 2009.
She was born November 18, 1960 in Phoenix, AZ to Earl and Mary (Pence) Shaw.
Crystal was an active member of the community; she loved life, nature, and her family dearly.
She is survived by her loving husband Ray Pohl, daughter Elysia and son Raymond Pohl, III, father Earl Shaw, sister Cindy Shaw, brother Mike Shaw and many friends.
Crystal is preceded in death by her mother Mary Shaw.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Ella White Seronde
Ella White Seronde, 61 of Flagstaff, AZ died Sunday, June 28 in Navajo, AZ.
She was born October 26, 1947 in Tuba City, AZ to Charles and Sarah Yazzie. Ella’s maternal clan is Tsinaajinii (Black Streak Forest People) and paternal clan is Kiyaa’aanii (Towering House People).
Ella was a long time employee of WL Gore and Associates, was a loving mother and grandmother, she was a silversmith, weaver, a member of Native American Church and teacher.
She is survived by her daughters, Sanora Isaac, Sarah Del Seronde, Caroline Marie Seronde, sons Jordan J. Isaac, and Tsinajinni Jean Seronde, sisters Mamie Begay and Mary (Maloney) Oldman, brother Tony Yazzie, 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10:00 am Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Citizens Cemetery, 1300 S. San Francisco Street, Flagstaff, AZ, a reception to follow from 1-5 pm at Timberline Fire Department Station (Doney Park) on North Highway 89.

Donald E. Rooney
Donald E. Rooney, 72, of Williams, AZ, died May 31, 2009.
He was born May 18, 1937 in Malden, MA to Leo and Marion (Nelson) Rooney.
Donald served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War, he loved boating, hunting and fishing. The Rooney’s lived in Lake Havasu City for 32 years before moving to Williams.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margarte (Peggy Glennon) Rooney, daughters; Denise K. and Michelle M. Hook, sister; Katerine Neader, bothers Joseph; Lawrence; Richard and Robert Rooney, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Donald is preceded in deat by sons Donad E. Rooney, Jr., and Darren M Rooney, two brothers Thomas F and James K Rooney, one sister Barbara Pariseau
A memorial service will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 790 Salem St., Malden, MA on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 9:00 am.
Rex Bahe
Funeral services for Rex Bahe, 63, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Maranatha Assembly of God Church, Winslow, AZ. Interment will be in Desert View Cemetery.
Rex passed away on April 27, 2010 in Flagstaff, Arizona. He was born on January 31, 1947 in Teesto.
He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Yellowhair (Leonard) of Whitecone, Teresa Bahe and Patricia Bahe, both of Phoenix; his brother, Larry A. Bahe of Teesto; his sisters, Evelyn Spencer and Karen Spencer, both of Teesto, and Dorothea Day of Mayer, Arizona; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

THOMAS F. RYAN, 87
Tom was born in Flagstaff in 1921. He was an alter-boy under Father Albouy and remained a devout Catholic throughout his life. He excelled in track as a young man and when WWII broke out enlisted in the navy where he served on the USS Hobby for three years. After the war he began his 38-year career as a Quality Assurance Specialist with the Dept. of Defense out at Navajo Ordnance Depot.
He married the love of his life, Leona (Jerry) Ryan in Flagstaff in 1950. Together they were transferred throughout the world, including Germany, Italy, Okinawa and many stateside assignments until Tom’s retirement in 1974 when they returned home to Flagstaff.
For 13 years Tom enjoyed being part of the volunteer team at the FMC where he and his wife (Tom & Jerry) distributed magazines to grateful patients. A very kind and gentle man, he will be long remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and dedication to his family.
Tom passed away on July 15th. He was preceded in death by his father William, mother Anna, brother Jim, and brother-in-law Frank New of Camp Verde. He is survived by his wife of 59 years; his two boys, David (Ellen) and Randy; his sister-in-law Juanette New; three grandchildren and the family dog Trixie.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Arizona Chapter American Parkinson Disease Association 2033 E. Speedway Blvd, Suite 203, Tucson, AZ 85719.
The family wishes to thank all of their supportive friends and neighbors, Joe Carters’ Rehabilitation Center, and Sisters Elizabeth and Augustine. They would also like to express grateful appreciation to Lisa Kennedy, and her wonderful staff, for their loving care of Tom at the Aspen House.

Stella Barreras
Stella Barreras, 78, of Cottonwood, died, Monday August 3, 2009.
She was born January 20, 1931 in Magdalena, New Mexico to Louis and Carmen (Villalobos) Martinez.
Stella lived and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family made her happy when all were around.
She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Barreras and Bobby Vargas and Cecilia (Gabe) Garcia both of Cottonwood, AZ and son, Fabian, Jr of Phoenix, AZ, 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren, sisters Jennie Romero, Felice (Nelson) Martinez, Sarah (Ray) Duran; brothers, Louis (Mary) Martinez, Jr., Jake Martinez, Max Martinez.
Stella is preceded in death by her husband, Fabian, mother Carmen, father Louis, three brothers Wilford, Jimmy and Rudy.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 6:00 pm at Lozano’s Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N. Fourth Street, Flagstaff, AZ.

JULIANNE S. MILLER, FLAGSTAFF, AZ
Julianne S. Miller died 15 July 2009 at the Flagstaff Medical Center. She was born in Haynesville LA and grew up mostly in Baton Rouge. She graduated from LSU in 1952 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and Sciences. She was a member of Delta Zeta sorority.
She worked from 1953 - 1957 as secretary in the Dept. Of Army and from 1957 - 1959 in the office of Civilian Personnel in Washington, D.C. In 1959 she moved to Paris, France and worked until 1961 as Advisor in the USRO/ Office of Defense.
On 3 November 1961 she was married in Paris, France to Col. Lee Miller who proceeded her in death in 1987. She and her husband spent 21/2 years in Munich, Germany where he was Commander of the Southern Area Command. Upon returning to the States in 1966 they made their home in Flagstaff.
She was an avid arts and music lover and a longtime quilter. She is survived by a brother, Dr. Thomas Shokley of Germantown TN and 2 nieces and by many neighbors and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Teresa P. “Tita” Gonzales
Teresa P. “Tita” Gonzales, 74, of Flagstaff, died on October 22, 2008 at the Flagstaff Medical Center. She was born on August 23, 1934 in Belen, New Mexico to Phillip and Pauline Gonzales. She retired from Northern Arizona University and was a homemaker after retiring. Teresa loved watching Little League baseball games, bingo, yard sales, and socializing with her dear friend Jessie Alonzo. She was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW Women’s Auxiliaries
Teresa is survived by her son, Leroy Arguello of Flagstaff, sisters; Donna Conde of Flagstaff, Jane Madrid of Litchfield Park, AZ, brothers, Patrick Gonzales of Yuma, AZ, Louis Gonzales of Cottonwood, AZ, Ralph Gonzales of Peoria, AZ, Arthur Gonzales of Flagstaff, special caregiver and niece Michelle Cordova of Flagstaff, 2 grandsons, 1 great granddaughter and many nieces, nephews and extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Cecelia Baldonado.
An evening vigil and holy rosary will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 7:00 pm with the funeral mass on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 10:00 am both at the St. Pius X Center, 2257 E. Cedar Ave. in Flagstaff. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery, 201 W. University Dr.
Jason Kurtz, RN, BSN, CMSRN
Jason Kurtz, RN, BSN, CMSRN, Passed away Monday November 12, 2007. He was surrounded by those who loved him and by those whom he loved at his home after spending the last four years “kicking cancer’s butt” (Jason’s words).
He was born March 1, 1974 in Bloomington, IL to Carolyn and Larry Kurtz. He is survived by his loving wife & soul mate Dawn M. Kurtz, parents Carolyn Kurtz of Tucson and Larry Kurtz of Colorado, maternal grandparents Alex & Agnes Iwaszuk of Sun City West, Brothers Douglas (Crystal) Kurtz of Tucson and Darren (Natasha) Kurtz of Siberia, Russia, Jason’s guardian angel Susan Eubanks of Flagstaff, bone marrow donor and giver of life Daria Gashler of Yonkers, NY, his loving in-laws, nieces and nephews, and by his loving best canine friends Gracie and Charley.
Jason joined FMC as an LPN in 1998 he was accepted into the RN new grad program on 3 South in 2002. He was promoted to 3-S clinical coordinator in 2004. Jason was well-loved and respected by his coworkers and teammates. In 2005 Jason was awarded the Nurse of the Year Leadership Award at FMC, he was then nominated for the March of Dimes Nursing Leadership award- where he was honored for his achievements. In April 2006, he was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks to throw out the first pitch of the season.
Jason was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed halibut fishing in Alaska, hunting, and skiing.
His smile, sense of humor and the mutual respect and compassion he showed others will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be Friday, November 16th from 4-6 pm and 7-9 pm at Lozano’s Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N. Fourth St., Flagstaff, AZ, Funeral Mass will Saturday November 17th at 10:00 am at Nativity Catholic Church, 16 W. Cherry, Flagstaff, AZ
