Louvena Bickford
1927 - 2011

Louvena Bickford age 84, of Camp Verde, passed away on Aug. 13, 2011 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Louvena was born on Jan. 10, 1927, in Lakin, Kan., to William and Elizabeth McVey. She married Arthur Herman Bickford on Sept. 8, 1946, in Deerfield Kan.

Louvena and Arthur were blessed with only one son, Stephen Bickford, whom they cherished very much. Louvena enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting, spending time with family, traveling and taking care of her flowers.

Louvena is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Arthur; her parents, her brothers and their wives: Bill and Donna Mcvey, Donald and Marie McVey, Elmer and Buela Mcvey, Russell and Lottie McVey, Jack Mcvey, sisters and husbands: Pearl and Charlie Hill, Dorothy and Earl Herron, Ruth and Loyd Newport, Ester and Ralph Elliott and Brother in law Lester Worley.

She is survived by her sister, Lucille Worley; sister-in-law Freda Mcvey; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Jacqueline Bickford, grandchildren and spouses, Dawn and Nick Cecil, Wade and Carrie Bickford, and Cody and Jeff Bowers, and great grandchildren; Rachel, Sara, Brittany, Paige, Jacqueline, Kaitlyn and Bristol.

The family would like to thank the Gingerich home and care givers for the wonderful care that Louvena received.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Gingrich home, 27 Road 5577, Farmington, NM 87401.

Services will be held on Monday Aug. 22, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Clear Creek Cemetery Camp Verde Arizona.

Ricardo Zepeda
1961 - 2011

Ricardo “Rick” Zepeda passed away on July 19, 2011 in Prescott Valley. He was born on January 22, 1961 to Joseph and Armida Zepeda of Cottonwood.

Ricardo gradated from Mingus Union High School in 1980. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany and South Korea.

Ricardo lived with his children in Clarkdale and was a sports fan. He coached some Verde Valley soccer and baseball teams.

Rick is survived by his parents Joe and Armida Zepeda; sister Jeannette Della Donna and Scott of Phoenix; four sons and two daughters Marcus Zepeda and Jacquie of Camp Verde, Michael Zepeda of Palm Springs, CA, Anthony Zepeda of Phoenix, Eric Zepeda of Cottonwood, Angelia and Selena of Prescott Valley; and four grandchildren Ethan, Ana, Ryan and Aiden.

Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 700 N. Bill Gray Road, Cottonwood on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 11 a.m. with a viewing at 10:30 a.m.

Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale.

Elzina ‘Diane’ Diehl
1923 - 2011

Elzina Jane “Diane” Diehl went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 25, just six days after celebrating her 88th birthday

She is survived by her two daughters and their families and her sisters, Opal and Ina. Marilyn Hurst (Kerry), Carol Buchanan (Wayne), Bob Hurst (Tina) Brandon & Courtney, Tina Batson (Clint) Megan & Mandy, Dawn Stalker (Jim) Tami & Taylor, Wendy Gullett (Chris) & Charlie, Jessica Hurst Taigen (Kyle), April Gill (Marlon). Diane was an associate at the Cottonwood Walmart for 17 years. She was always there to show you where items were, give you a huge hug, and even to pray with you on the spot.

We will ALL miss her great hugs, her prayers, and her ever-present smile. Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Friend…

A celebration of her life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, at Canyon Chapel, 1919 N. 4th St., Flagstaff, Arizona. Information provided by family members.

Clarence Allen Turner
1921 - 2011

Clarence Allen Turner passed away on July 21, 2011 at his home in Cottonwood, AZ. He was known by millions as the Greatest Untouchable, and the Photographer of the Stars.

Cal was born in August 15, 1921 in Glendale California, and rose to be one of the top cops of the 20th Century. His contributions to our Americana Life was chronicled in two books written by his wife of 67 years, Mary Turner.

Cal graduated with a BSC degree form Southwestern University in 1950, and spent the next twenty years in the service to his country as a Special Agent to the Internal Revenue Service. He rose through the ranks and retired in 1970 as division head to the Los Angles, California Organized Crime Division.

His exploits were the subject of the second book by his beloved wife, Mary, “The Untouchable’s Wife, ” published and released just before his death.

Cal’s natural ability to capture the visual world in which we live led to his first love, photography. Studying under Ansel Adams, he further developed his skills after retirement by opening his own studio in Palms Springs, California in the 1970’s. Here he met and photographed the greatest stars of all times, including Frank Sinatra and Ginger Rogers. By now, he was known as, the Photographer of the Stars, and was the subject of Mary Turner’s first book, “The Beautiful People of Palm Springs”.

His legacy still lives on within the Verde Valley, where he and Mary resided for over 31 years.

Cal partnered with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office to lead the Volunteers In Patrol program after his full retirement in 1980. He continued his volunteer work with the formation of the Verde Valley Radio Amateurs Association Network, and was often heard over his Two-Meter repeaters throughout all Arizona as, Wi6S. He was highlighted in many radio amateur meets and magazine articles about his innovative leaderships during community emergencies throughout the valley.

Clarence Allen Turner was preceded in death by his parents Cledis and Florence Turner, of Glendale, California.

Cal is survived by his wife Mary Louise Turner, of Cottonwood, AZ and one son, Allen Michael Turner of San Francisco, California.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, Aug. 15, 2 p.m. At the Cottonwood Village, 201 E. Mingus Ave Cottonwood, AZ 86326, 1-800-470-7979. Flowers are welcome at that time.

Melissa Terese Boggler-Warren

Terese "Scoot" Boggler-Warren passed away unexpectedly the morning of Saturday, December 11, 2010 in Camp Verde, Arizona.

Melissa was born to Earl and Sue Boggler on a beautiful fall morning, September 6, 1977, at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

Melissa was baptized at the Nellis Air Force Base Catholic Chapel and received her First Communion and Confirmation in the Diocese of Phoenix, Arizona.

As a military brat, she lived in several states and spent three years in Madrid, Spain when her father was stationed there.

She attended Independence High School in Glendale, Arizona and participated on the flag line.

She was a staff member at Camp Verde High School and loved the children and faculty very much. Melissa was a kind and loving individual with a great spirit who cared deeply about others.

Many who have known Melissa have given testimony to her willingness to do whatever she could to ease the suffering and pain of others. She battled bipolar disease her entire life and showed great empathy with anyone who was suffering.

Melissa's smile and laughter masked a great sadness that made life difficult and, in the end, overwhelmed her. Her greatest source of joy was her children.

She reveled in being a devoted mother and her children were her life.

Melissa was predeceased by her grandparents J.C. and Mary Alyce Carpenter and her uncle, Mark Carpenter. She is survived by her three children, sons Martin and Devin Branum and her little princess, Reagen Warren; her parents, brother Coy (Amy) Boggler, sister Mandy (Ben) Taylor, Pat (Becky) Branum, James Warren, nephews Nelson and Timothy Boggler, and her paternal grandparents Coy and Mildred Hess.

The family will accept flowers, but prefers donations to be made to any Pro-Life organization in her name.

At the ages of 15 and 17, Melissa chose life for her children, Martin and Devin, even when her own life was at risk. She firmly believed in the sacredness of the life of the unborn.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Mass Saturday Dec. 18, 2010, at 11 AM in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 150 Fleury Avenue, Prescott, AZ 86301.

Burial will be in Heritage Memorial Park, Dewey, AZ.

Family Service by the Heritage Memory Mortuary, Prescott, AZ.
