Philip Eugene Sims
1930 - 2010
Phillip Eugene Sims, 80, of Clarkdale died August 25. He was born August 11, 1930 in Prescott, the son of Alva Merritt Sims and Perry Inez Sims.
He was a graduate of Prescott High School and served his country in the Navy during World War II and Korea.
Mr. Sims worked for Arizona Public Service for 35 years. He was a member of the Verde Baptist Church since 1953. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, jeeping and singing. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father.
Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John Lewis and sister Patricia.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Sims; sons Jason (Liz) of Flagstaff and Phillip of Phoenix; a brother Karl (and his late wife Pat) of Prescott; sisters Edith (and her late husband Mack) of Prescott, Barbara (Dexter) of Colorado and Mary Jo of California; two grandsons Jonathan and Barrett of Phoenix.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 3 in the Verde Baptist Church at 10 AM.
He will be inurned at the Prescott National Cemetery.

Clarence Leslie Parsons
1939 - 2010
“Les” Clarence Leslie Parsons, 71, of Cottonwood, left this world August 18, 2010. He was born July 12, 1939 in St. Helena, California to Lillian Deloris Forkner and William Jordan Parsons.
He was surpassed in death by his wife, “Kandy” Eddwinnia Parsons, in 2000.
He is survived by his daughters Valorie (Johnny) Montiel, Jeannetta (Rob), Barbara (Joe) Ruch, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, his brother Jack Parsons, and sister Lorie Vanderhayden.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him deeply.
Don’t cry for him, he is free from the pain and sickness of this world. The struggle is finished. His work here is done. His soul is free and at rest. He has moved on after finishing the trials of this life. He is finally at peace. He knows how much we loved him, as much as he loved us. Forever in our hearts.

Robert ‘Beau’ Beaupre
1944 - 2010
Robert “Beau” Beaupre, 66, of Cottonwood died August 18. He was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, the son of Achille and Rita (Desmarais) Beaupre.
He was a graduate of St. Anthony-West High School. He served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was retired from a career as a firefighter and businessman.
He leaves his wife Linda; daughters Dana Velotti (Kenneth) of Kenai, Alaska and Dawn Warner (Christopher) of Soldotna, Alaska; a sister Priscilla Michaud of Springhill, Florida; three grandchildren Celeste Henry, Eric Michaud and Amy Vernon and nieces and nephews.

Eric Umstattd
1948 - 2010
Eric G. Umstattd, 62, of Sedona died unexpectedly August 24, 2010. He was born March 26, 1948, in Roswell, New Mexico, the son of Lee and Evelyn Pomeroy Umstattd.
He leaves his wife Wendy; sons Kristofor and Nicholas; daughters Krystan; brothers Lee and Michael.

Lucy Allen
1946 - 2010
Lucy A. Allen, 64, of Cottonwood died August 24, 2010 in Phoenix. She was born June 4, 1946 in Jerome the daughter of Domingo and Leonor Alvarez.
Lucy worked for YES the Arc for over twenty-five years and was an invaluable employee.
She was preceded in death by her father Domingo Alvarez and her husband Derel Alvarez.
She is survived by sons Mike Moody of Cottonwood, Brian Moody of Laveen and Derel Allen of Cottonwood; her mother Leonor Alvarez of Cottonwood; brothers Henry Alvarez (Rose) of Mesa and David Alvarez of Vista, California; sisters Vicky Molina (Larry) and Beatrice Estrada (Fermin), all of Cottonwood, Anita Cota (Armando) of Oracle and Sophia Ballesteros (Jesus) of Cottonwood; and three grandchildren.
A Rosary and Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 2 in the Westcott Funeral Home at 4 PM.

Milton ‘Harvey’ Kleck
1934 - 2010
Milton “Harvey” Kleck of Cornville, died at home on the 31st of July 2010. He was 75 years old. He was born in Flagstaff on the 3rd of September 1934 to Raymond and Mary Margaret Kleck.
While a small child, Harvey lived with his parents in Artesia, New Mexico for a short time and then in Phoenix until about 1950 when the family moved back to Flagstaff. Harvey was an avid sportsman, fishing and hunting whenever the opportunity arose. He also had a great love for all things mechanical and built a stock car that he raced on tracks in Flagstaff and Phoenix. The Friday, Sept. 16 1955 issue of the Arizona Daily Sun shows him as one of six Flagstaff drivers in a N.A.S.C.A.R sanctioned race being held at the Flagstaff City Park on the following Sunday. He was a racing fan all his life. Other things he enjoyed were photography and working in the orchard and the garden in Cornville.
After graduating from Flagstaff High School, Harvey worked at Custom Metal Crafts, a sheet metal shop and heating and air conditioning business belonging to his father Raymond. When his father decided to change occupations Harvey went to work for Boyer Metal where he worked until 1983, running jobs all over the state and on several of the reservations.
In 1983, he and his wife and son Paul moved to Cottonwood and started their own heating and air conditioning business, Cottonwood Metal Products. Two more sons, Charlie and Jim, joined the business later.
In 1998 Harvey and Jean sold the business and retired to Cornville where they’ve lived since.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean; their sons Paul (Karen) and Charles (Robynn), both of Flagstaff, and James (Carla) of Clarkdale. He was preceded in death by son Michael. He is also survived by his brother Dale (Linda) of Douglas; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 6th at 10 AM at Flagstaff Citizen’s Cemetery.

Claven B. Larson
1918 - 2010
Claven B. Larson, 92, of Cottonwood died. Born August 14, 1918 in Muskegon, Mich., the son of Bernheardt M. and Grace G. Larson.
He was a retired minister and a member of the Assembly of God Church and especially enjoyed Bible studies.
He leaves his wife, Wanda F. Larson; sons Claven C. Larson of Tacna, Arizona, Benjamin J. Larson of (Geraldine ) of Midland, Michigan, Steven M. Larson (Margaret) of Baltimore, Maryland; daughters Lois J. Driscoll (Jack) of Interlochen, Michigan; step-children Charlene Shaw (Hugh) of Florida, Christine Migliorisi (Gerald) of Pennsylvania and JoAnne (Michael)Ferguson of Cottonwood; a sister Ruth Shelltrown of Florida; and two grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 6 in the Westcott Funeral Home from 5-7 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 7, in the Cottonwood Assembly of God Church at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery.
