Daryle R. Stuckey
Longtime Cave Creek resident Daryle R. “Jack” Stuckey died at his home on Thursday, April 30, 2009. He was 86.
He was born on May 10, 1922 near Sycamore, Ohio to the late Raymond and Lela (Lee) Stuckey.
Jack married Josephine Ann “JoAnn” Stuckey in New Orleans in 1966.
He attended Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio before World War II broke out. He was a B-17 pilot on a combat aircrew near Italy in 1944. He spent the last nine months of the war in various prisoner of war camps throughout Europe.
After World War II he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Reserve University in Cleveland and cleared to practice law in Ohio in 1950. He was recalled to active duty with the Air Force in 1951 and served in Japan and Korea during the Korean War. He completed 20 years of active service and seven years of reserve service in 1969, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
He was a member of Cave Creek American Legion Post 34 and the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) groups.
He and JoAnn traveled extensively in Europe, Mexico and Brazil. He also enjoyed reading and restoring older homes.
Graveside services were held in Sycamore, Ohio on May 5, 2009.

Margot Janice Wittenberg
After a long eight year war with cancer, Margot Wittenberg finally succumbed to the dreaded disease this past Sunday, July 27, at 19:36 Hours which is the same as the year of her birth at her home in Carefree at the age of 78. She is survived by her husband, Captain Russ Wittenberg, 77.
Margot was born in Austin, Illinois on May 27, 1936. Both of her parents (Dr. A. Fred Kabana and Margaret Forelich Kabana) were pioneer chiropractors in the Chicago Loop area in the late 30s and early 40s. At age 8, Margot's family moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where she graduated from St. Pete High with honors. She then attended and graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fashion Design. It was there she first met her husband to be, Russ. Soon after graduation, she started a "new way of life" becoming as stewardess with Pan American World Airways where she traveled the world doing the things she loved – travel.
Margot and Russ were married on December 2, 1961. Russ, who by that time was a First Lt. Rated Pilot in the USAF during the Vietnam era, also participated in the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Bay of Pigs invasion.
Margot was active in social and political events her whole life. She founded and was the first President of the Miami Snow Ski Club. She later founded her very own Florida Alpine Ski Club in which she booked high end ski trips all over the world. She and her husband helped to found the Dade County Republican Party. In May of 1978, the Wittenbergs moved to their present home in Carefree where Margot founded the Carefree Republican Woman's Club. In 1992 and 2000, the Wittenbergs were the Arizona State Chairman for Patrick J. Buchanan for President.
Russ eventually left the service (circa 1964) and became a Captain for both Pan American World Airways and United Airlines. In 1984, Russ was on the First Carefree Town Council when he and Margot designed the Carefree Town Seal in use today.
Celebration of life service will be held at the Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary (480-502-3378), 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85255 at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014. The family requests no flowers.
Caroline Olshefska
Caroline Olshefska, 75, of Cave Creek, passed away on June 17, 2014 after battling with pancreatic cancer. She will be greatly missed.
After graduation from Lew Wallace High School, Caroline went on to receive her Master of Music from the Conservatory of Chicago. Throughout the past 55 years she warmed people’s hearts both young and old with the gift of music by teaching piano and music theory. As a founding member of Arizona Musicfest, she enjoyed spending much of her time bringing classical music to others. She also enjoyed traveling, attending live classical concerts and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her daughters Stacey Derdowski of Tempe, Arizona. and Amy Bethprana Novi of Portland Oregon and many cousins.

Ruth M. Stevens
1927 – 2014
Ruth Stevens, a resident of Carefree, Ariz., passed away on January 8, 2014. She loved life and was a friend to all. Ruth was born in Arthur, Texas and grew up in Pleasantville, New York. She was a graduate of Mary Washington College in Virginia and worked for Texaco Co. in New York City.
Ruth met her husband, Hugh Stevens, on a blind sailing date on Long Island Sound. They married in 1954.
Ruth was a member of Soroptimist International, Carefree Chapter, and enjoyed the organization very much.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Hugh Stevens, former mayor of Carefree. She also has two sons; James Stevens of North Andover, Massachusetts and John Stevens of Gilbert, Arizona; one daughter, Cathy Dellios of Fountain Hills, Arizona and four grandchildren.
Donations in Ruth's memory can be made to the Foothills Caring Corps of Carefree.
A special “Goodbye to Ruth Stevens” will take place Saturday, Feb. 8, at 10 a.m. in Maitland Hall at the Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, 6502 E. Cave Creek Rd., Cave Creek, Ariz.
Anne Marie Simenson
October 21, 1948 – February 10, 2011
In loving memory of a woman who loved much, laughed often, and lived well. Anne celebrated life to the fullest and lived the dream. She is survived by her soul mates, Glenn, her fiance and Bella their Dobie. Anne is also survived by Eric her son, Laura his wife, Savannah her granddaughter, Marcy her sister, Steve her brother in-law, Scott her brother and his wife, Flo, nieces, nephews, and hundreds of friends. She was loved by all. We will miss Anne, but she lives in our hearts and memory forever.

George Orland Dutro
January 12, 1928 – January 8, 2011
george dutroGeorge was a resident of Cave Creek for over fifty years. He was an amazing man who had varied careers in his life. Some of his main jobs included hairdressing, modeling, and cinema. He enjoyed showing horses and worked on the Dick Van Dyke show, where he worked with Hope Lange and close friend Dee Dee Woods, just to name a few.
George will be remembered for his wit, sarcasm, and fun personality by many. He will be greatly missed by his family and close friends, including his niece, Jane Lauer and dear friends Dale Beecher, Cat Fitzgerald, and Tommy Atwood, and many more.
Tammy Morrison
Tammy Morrison of New River, Ariz., was born in Vernal, Utah, on April 24, 1959 to Kenneth and Velma Phillips. She died on November 27, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix.
Tammy met Jeff Gollnick while they worked together at an electrical contracting company in 1985 and they were together as life partners since 1988.
Tammy became a purchasing agent in 1992 and pursued an Associates Degree in Purchasing, which she received in 2002. She worked in purchasing until in 2005, when she began working with Jeff in his Desert Foothills Electric business.
Tammy is survived by Jeff, her mother Velma of Vernal, Utah, son Patrick of Phoenix, Ariz., sisters Laurie Pitchford, Marci Lent and brother William Phillips of Vernal, Utah, Jeff’s mom Shirley of Phoenix, Ariz., brother Tim (Lisa), niece Lauren and nephew Taylor of Peoria, Ariz., sister Nancy Jenkins of Portland, Ore.
Tammy is predeceased by her father, Kenneth and Jeff’s father, Louis Gollnick.
Wayne William Hennacy, Jr
Wayne William Hennacy, Jr., 84, of Cave Creek, Arizona died after a recently diagnosed lung cancer of 8 weeks, on August 21, 2013, at his beloved desert home.
Wayne was born in Sharon, PA, March 1929, to Wayne, Sr., and Thelma Hennacy. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alene. He graduated from Warren G. Harding High School, Warren, Ohio, in 1945. On September 8, 1951 he married Edith Reihard, of Champion, Ohio.
Wayne (Bill) served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War, with the rank of corporal. He attended trade school for 4 years and graduated as a journeyman in sheet metal. Wayne was a proud member of local Union 359 for nearly 60 years. Bill retired in 1991.
Wayne and Edie had 3 children, Wayne (WIII), Rhonda, Colleen and two grandchildren, Shane and Erin. The family moved to Arizona in 1963 and then moved to Cave Creek, Arizona in 1973. Wayne was a dedicated family man and during retirement he and Edie, his wife, traveled across the country to visit their children.
A private celebration of life for family was held on August 24 at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary. Inurnment will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2013, National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix. Connie Rose Henderson
Consuelo Rose Moreno Henderson, 71, was born in Los Angeles, California and passed away June 15, 2013 in Phoenix, Arizona. She moved from California to Arizona in 1958, and graduated from Tempe High School.
While cruising with her girlfriends on Central Avenue in Phoenix, February 1960, she met the love of her life, Paul Henderson. The first night she met Paul, she told her friends she would marry him; they wed in October 1961.
Connie and Paul built their home and moved the family from Phoenix to Cave Creek where they lived for 25 years. Actively involved as a volunteer with her children’s 4-H Club, school, sports and other activities, she met many wonderful friends. Countless summer weekends were spent camping, fishing and water skiing with family and friends at Bartlett Lake.
The family regularly attended mass at the Carefree Inn and then Rancho Mañana before Our Lady of Joy parish was built in Carefree in 1974.
During the time she lived in Cave Creek, Connie met and worked for Dude and Barbara Noble of Carefree. Later they became business partners and remained lifelong friends.
Founder, President and CFO of Henderson Utility Company for 27 years, Connie treated her employees like family, insisting that everyone had health insurance coverage. The family business was established in January 1986, and continues operation today using her valuable ideas and administrative plans.
She was preceded in death five years ago by her only son, Michael Albert Henderson. They are now in Heaven together celebrating eternal life and happiness.
Connie was an amazingly talented, creative and ingenious artist, dabbling in nearly every art form: paints, mosaic tile, sculpture, crafts, beadwork and much more.
She was a supportive wife and the biggest cheerleader to Paul’s hobby building a cackle car K88 dragster and restoring their 1958 GMC Carry All over the last 8 years. Participation with both vehicles in several local car shows was a recent and exciting pastime for both.
She was preceded in death by parents, Oscar and Nettie Moreno, three brothers and one sister in addition to her son Michael. Surviving family includes her loving husband, Paul, daughters Susan (Marty) Goggins, Patricia Henderson, grandchildren Joshua (Mandy) Henderson, Jacob (fiancé Xio Gonzales) Henderson, Raquel Gengler, Marie Goggins & Julie Goggins, great-grandson Jayden Gengler, brothers Gilbert (Veneta) Moreno and Phillip (Anna) Moreno, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial mass will be held on her birthday, Saturday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, 3424 N. 18th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85015. A reception celebration immediately following the service will take place in Gordon Hall at the church.
