Scotty Hyslop

Alexander "Scotty" Hyslop 62, died on November 8, 1999 in Chino Valley, Arizona. He was born on February 18, 1937 in Beards Fork, West Virginia to Alexander and Mary (Dean) Hyslop. Scotty retired from the U.S. Airforce as a Master Sgt. after serving more than 20 years service as an Air Traffic Controller. After leaving the Military, he went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration and retired in 1992 after 17 years. Scotty belongs to St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Chino Valley, Arizona.

He was an avid motorcycle rider and enthusiast and belonged to many motorcycle clubs, including the Central Arizona Road Riders. He also loved working on and driving Model A's. He had many hobbies and interests, and loved traveling, but his family was the most important thing to him.

He is survived by his wife Peggy of Chino Valley, sons; Michael and Stephen of Phoenix, Christopher of Scottsdale, daughters; Patricia Comstock of Phoenix, Sandra James and Kathryn Silvas of Gilbert, Az., mother; Mary Hyslop of Aiken, S.C. Brother James of Odenton, Md., sisters Francis Brown and Deborah Golden of Aiken, S.C., ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchildren.

The funeral is scheduled for November 17, at 11 a.m. at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, with graveside full military honors from Luke Air Force Base. Memorial contributions to be sent to YRMC Hospice Restricted Fund, P.O. Box 26565, Prescott Valley, Az. 86312, or to Chino Valley Lions Club.

Wes McElhaney

Wesley O. McElhaney, 64, died on November 2, 199 at Carl Hayden Veterans Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

He was born on November 26, 1934 in El Monte, California to Olen and Cecelia (Murtha) McElhaney.

Mr. McElhaney worked as a Quality Control Inspector for several companies.

He loved to read and do crossword puzzles in his leisure time. He loved his family and will be greatly missed his family and friends he made during his life's journey.

His love for country and his patriotism was showed by his service in the Air force.

He was preceded in death by his son Duane in 1997.

He is survived by his wife Marian of Chino Valley, Az., sons; Scott of Calif., Keith of Washington state, brother Allan, sister Mildred and grandchild Jessica.

Private cremation was held at Bradshaw Crematory and Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

Don Larson

Donald Lee Larson 69, died on October 15, 1999 in Prescott, Arizona.

He was born on September 24, 1930 in Millbank, South Dakota.

Mr. Larson served his country with the U.S. Army in the Korean War earning the "Purple Heart."

He loved camping and fishing.

He was also a member of the American Legion Post #40 in Chino Valley, Arizona.

Mr. Larson is survived by his wife Janette of Chino Valley, daughters; LaDonna of Iowa, and Cheryl of California, sons; Kevin of Sioux Falls, SD, and Brian of Omaha, Neb., brother Benjamin Larson of South Dak., and half brother Myron Maddox of South Dak., stepsons, Ken, Eddie, and Larry Peter, also seven grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held on October 19 at Chino Valley Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Fred LeClaire, C.M.F. officiating.

Ted Miller

Ted J. Miller Sr., 71, of Chino Valley died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999 at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott. He was born Sept. 11, 1928, in Flint, Mich. to Jesse Lee and Amy Gertrude (Tant) Miller.

Mr. Miller worked for General Motors as an assembly line worker for 30 years, retiring Aug. 2, 1988. He belonged to the United Auto Workers Union local 659 and was proud of his work and his membership in the union.

Mr. Miller loved reading, hunting, fishing, and hiking with his wife Jean, family members and friends. He moved to Chino Valley from Owosso, Mich., in 1998, and loved the time he spent in Arizona.

Survivors include his wife, Jean of Chino Valley; daughters, Bethany Elliott of Corunna, Mich. and Judith McConnell of Owoso, Mich; son Ted Miller Jr. of Salinas, Calif.; sisters, Marie Olson of Hendersonville, N.C., Nina Russell of Sun City and Connie Sova of Glendale; brothers, Dolph Miller of Swartz Creek, Mich, Charles Miller of Great Falls, Mont. and George Bilsky of Flint, Mich; seven grand-children and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be in Michigan at a later date.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home helped the family with arrangements.

Marguerite Else Rohr, 79, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, in Chino Valley . She was born Sept. 30, 1920 in Chicago, Ill. to Allie Herman and Anna P. (Kuntze) Rakenius.

Mrs. Rohr married Robert William Rohr in 1947. He preceded her in death in 1989.

She attended nursing school in Chicago, and worked at the Delnor Hospital in St. Charles, Ill.

Mrs. Rohr was a homemaker. She enjoyed tole painting, oil painting and was active in various bridge clubs and new comers' groups.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Lands of Chino Valley; son John of Satellite beach, Fla., and one grand-child.

Cremation was private at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley. Inurnment will be in Chicago.

Evelyn Hodges

Evelyn Mcinnis Hodges, 74, died September 18, 1999 at her home in Chino Valley, Arizona. She was born on November 7, 1924 in Shreveport, La. to George and Katherine (Langford) Simmerman.

Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a true friend. She moved to Arizona in 1994 from her home in Shreveport, La.

She is survived by her husband William Hodges; daughter Phyllis Pias of Kenosha, Wisconsin; son, Clay Wolking of Greeley, Colo.; four grandchildren, and one great-grand child.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her son Kenneth Wolking.

Funeral service was held on Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999 at the LDS church in Chino Valley, with Bishop Chris Sexton officiating.

Linda Cox

Linda Marie Cox, 54, died Tuesday, August 17, 1999, at her home in Chino Valley. She was born February 1, 1945, in Morrisville, Vt., to Amedee and Alice (Johnson) Caron.

Mrs. Cox moved to Arizona in 1976, and was employed for 21 years at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

She enjoyed reading, camping, fishing and yard work, and she loved animals.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Godby of Prescott and Connie Miller of Dayton, Ohio; son, Craig Delphia of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., sister Janet Clark of Prescott, and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband, Mark, in 1997.

Private services were held at the Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Yavapai Regional Medical Center Hospice, Restricted Fund, P.O. Box 26565, Prescott Valley, Az. 86312. Memory Chapel Mortuary helped the family with arrangements.

Vern Hansen

Vern C. Hanson 79, died Saturday August 14, 1999 in Prescott, Arizona. He was born March 30, 1920 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Charles and Fredrica (Meyer) Hanson.

Mr. Hanson was a decorated Army W.W.II Veteran who landed on Omaha Beach, fought across France and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He was medically discharged in 1945. Originally from Minneapolis, Minn. he spent 25 years in Escondido, Ca. and the last eleven in Chino Valley, Az.

Mr. Hanson is survived by his wife of 57 years Cecelia, daughters; Patricia Korba of Lake Ville, Minn., and Paula Dyke of Manorville, NY., sons; Tom of Escondido, Ca., J.R. of Chino Valley, Az. and Rich of Fallbrook, Ca., brothers; Ken of Las Osos, Ca. and Merlin of Clear Lake, Ca., sister Darlene Nilan of Fair Oaks, Ca., eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial mass was celebrated on Sunday, August 15, at the V.A. Medical Center Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. Fr. Gerald Caffrey, C.M.F. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Hospice Center, V.A. Hospital, Prescott, Az. 86313

Fred Richter

Fred R. Richter 72, died Wednesday August 11 at his home in Chino Valley, Arizona. He was born October 31, 1926 in Sierra Madre, Calif. to Fred William Richter and Lisette Gertrude (Annas) Richter.

He was the fourth child and eldest son in his family.

Mr. Richter enjoyed and excelled in the construction arts of masonry, carpentry, welding and concrete work. These crafts were not only his livelihood but his passion as well.

He is survived by his wife Shirley of Chino Valley, Az., Daughter Deborah L. Sutherland of Queen Creek, Az., son; Fred L. Richter of Alta Loma, Ca., brothers, Walter of Sierra Madre, Ca., Alfred of Glendora, Ca., Arnie of Sierra Madre, Ca., Ernie of Encinitas, Ca. and Bob of Santa Rosa, Ca., sisters; Esther Cook, Helen Cass and Clara Groff all of Sierra Madre, Ca., Edith Campbell of Encinita, Ca., Margaret Galbraith of Newport Beach, Ca. and Lydia Owens of San Gabriel, Ca.

A celebration of Mr. Richter's life was held Saturday August 14, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Chino Valley .
