Thomas LoSciuto

Thomas Francis LoSciuto, 84, died on Jan. 16, 2000 in Chino Valley. He was born on Sept. 18, 1915 in Dorchester, Mass., to Frank and Sara (Garland) LoSciuto.

Mr. LoSciuto married Mary Perella Sept. 1, 1940. He entered the U.S. Army and served his country during WWII from 1942-1945. Most of his career was spent as a machinist for the H.L Livermore Company in Boston. In 1980 he and his wife moved to Prescott, and then to Chino Valley in 1990. He worked as a custodian for the Prescott Unified School District.

Mr. LoScuito enjoyed television sports, and doing crossword puzzles. He was friendly to everyone, and all who met him became friends. He was a member of the Chino Valley Lions Club and St. Catherine Laboure Parish.

On his 80th birthday, his daughters gave him a car that he became fond of. He loved his pets. He was proud of his daughers and their families.

He is survived by his wife Mary of Chino Valley; daughters, Mary Weber of Prescott and Fran Hlodan of Chino Valley; brothers, Charles of Windham, Maine, and John of Itasca, Texas; sisters, Elizabeth Callahan, Somerville, Mass. and Rita Genovese, Margat, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, Jan. 20, at St. Catherine Laboure Parish, with burial at Chino Valley Cemetery.

Robert Dillon

Robert H. (Mutt) Dillon, 81, died on Jan. 8, 2000 in Prescott. He was born on Jan. 6, 1919 to Cosma and Eva (Simmons) Dillon in Enid, Okla.

He was a loving father and grandfather. Mr. Dillon is survived by his daughters, Lee Head of Phoenix, Jeanne Hicks of Prescott, and Susan Baker of Delta, Colo.; brothers, Paul Dillon of Chino Valley, Roy Dillon of Mountain Ranch, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Jan. 11 at Chino Valley Cemetery.

Edwin McQuistion

Edwin Bruce McQuistion, 81, died Jan. 10, 2000 at Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Prescott. He was born on Feb. 9, 1918, in Wellsville, Ohio, to Robert L. and Lillian Mae (Haney) McQuistion. Mr. McQuistion served in the US Army from 1942-43. He married Gracie Mai Brown on Dec. 23, 1943. They moved to Phoenix in 1953 from Chapel Hill, Tenn., and then to Yavapai County in 1981. He spent 17 years as a traffic control counter for the Arizona State Highway Department, and retired in 1978.

Mr. McQuistion and his wife were members of the Prescott Valley Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling and was proud of his family.

He is survived by his wife, Gracie Mai of Chino Valley; daughters, Betty Camp of Colorado Springs, Colo., Cindy Rourke of Boise, Idaho, Connie Kay of Prescott; sons, Joe of Peoria, Ariz., Jerry of Ardmore, Okla., Carl of Henderson, Nev., Phil of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, Bill of Apache Junction; sister, Erla Hall of Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Private funeral services and were held at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home in Prescott and a private cremation at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley. Burial was at Sun West Cemetery in El Mirage, Ariz.

Mary Marguerite Hill

Mary Marguerite Hill, 80, died Jan. 11, 2000 in Chino Valley. She was born on Jan. 2, 1920 in Wishram, Wash., to James and Nellie N. (Hoffman) Egan.

Mrs. Hill worked as a PBX operator before her retirement. She moved from Vancouver, Wash., to Lake Havasu City, Ariz., in 1994, and to Chino Valley in 1995. Mrs. Hill loved going to yard sales, and enjoyed cooking and reading. She was very proud of her family. Mrs. Hill is survived by her daughter, Melody Stevens of Chino Valley; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. There was a private cremation at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley.

Barbara Pelliccione

Barbara Louise Pelliccione, 76, died on Dec. 22, 1999 in Prescott.

She was born on May 15, 1923 in Corning, Calif. to Harold and Beatrice (Scott) Waytt. Barbara married Harry Pelliccione on June 30, 1945, in Pennsylvania. She was a past president and founder of the Sage and Snow Garden Club in Wyoming. She was in the WACs during WWII and a member of the American Vets, also a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Chino Valley. Barbara was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband Harry of Chino Valley; son, Harry Jr. of Sacramento, Calif.; daughter, Sherrill of Torington, Wyo.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held on Jan. 20, 2000 at First Southern Baptist Church in Chino Valley, with Pastor Mark Reader officiating. Internment is at Pinedale Cemetery in Pinedale, Wyo. Memorial contributions can be sent to VA Medical Center, Hospice, 500 E. Hwy 89, Prescott, AZ 86313.

George Melhart

George Franklin Melhart, 80, died Dec. 25, 1999 at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Prescott. George was born Feb. 15, 1919 in Sumner, Wash., to George and Jessie (Porter) Melhart. Mr. Melhart resided in Chino Valley.

Mr. Melhart was a U.S. Navy World War II and Korean War Veteran.

He worked for the United States Postal Service as a postal carrier for 25 years. Mr. Melhart was a member of the VFW in Chino Valley, The American Legion, The Grange, and the NARFE.

Mr. Melhart is survived by his wife, Hazel of Chino Valley, daughters; Louise Vitek of San Jose, Calif., and June Tilley of Parowan, Utah. He was the grandfather of six grandchildren, and also had many nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Jan. 8, at the VA Medical Center Chapel in Prescott, with military honors by American Legion Post #6. Chaplain Albert Bentley officiated. Burial was at Chino Valley Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Melhart name can be directed to the Alzheimer's Association of Northern Arizona, 225 Grove Ave., Prescott, AZ 86301.

Robert Edwards

Robert Lee Edwards, Sr. 72, of Chino Valley, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000 in Prescott.

He was born Sept. 17, 1927 in Casper, Wyo., to Thomas and Mildred (Gilstrap) Edwards.

Mr. Edwards served in both the Army and Navy, in the European theater during World War II.

He lived in Arizona for the last 70 years.

On Sept. 1, 1957, he married Nancy Ann James in Las Vegas, Nev.

They lived in the Phoenix area, where he was a Teamster for more than 36 years.

He was an active member of VFW Post 1433 in Glendale.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. After his retirement in 1998, the Edwardses moved to Chino Valley .

Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons, Robert Jr. of Phoenix and Robert III of Chino Valley; daughters, Carolyn Rader of Phoenix and Nancy Edwards of Washington state; brother, Thomas of Apache Junction; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

No services were held.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 13141, Prescott, AZ 86304.

Sunrise Funeral Home helped the family with arrangements.

Baxter Earnhart

Baxter L. Earnhart, 80, died on Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 at his home in Chino Valley.

He was born on March 6, 1919 in Prescott to Baxter and Minnie (Slosser) Earnhart.

Baxter was born and raised in Prescott. In 1937 he moved to Chino Valley, and 11 years later he married Ruby Roberts on Aug. 20, 1948. Baxter and Ruby got married in the same home he died in after sharing 52 loving years together. Baxter owned and operated with his brother Harold, the Thumb Butte Dairy for 22 years. He later moved into construction working for Fann Construction in drilling and blasting for 21 years and retired in 1981. Baxter lived his whole life in Arizona and had many stories to tell about the growth of the Prescott area. He enjoyed quiet time with his wife and children which were the most important part of his life. Baxter also enjoyed tending to his garden, and in later years when he was ill, Baxter loved having his grandchildren help him in with his garden. Baxter will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends he has met during his long life in Prescott. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Lester, Roy, and Harold Earnhart.

He is survived by his wife Ruby of Chino Valley, daughter; Janice York of Chino Valley, sons; Louis also of Chino Valley, Timothy of Kerns, Utah, and ten grandchildren.

Memorial services were held on Monday, January 3, 2000 at Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall, with Jack Walker officiating. A private cremation was held at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley. Family suggest memorial contributions be sent to Jehovah's Witness World Wide Work, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, NY 11201-2483 or Hospice Family Care, 100 E. Sheldon St. Prescott, Az. 86301.

Betty Lou Kiley

Betty Lou Kiley, 58, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 at her home in Chino Valley.

She was born on April 26, 1941 in Louisville, Ky.

Betty Lou moved to Phoenix from Oxnard, Calif., in 1975. Later that year she married Michael Dennis Kiley on April 8, 1975 and shared 24 wonderful years together. In February of 1996 Betty Lou and Michael moved to Chino Valley . She was in charge of the records section at Luke Air Force Base for 20 years and retired in 1995. Betty Lou then went to worked as a secretary for Hunters Hearing Service in Prescott Valley and was employed with them at the time of her death. Betty Lou loved the outdoors and spent many wonderful hours antiqueing.

She was a lover of animals. Her dogs and cats also perished in the house fire which took her own life. She also had horses.

Betty Lou was proud of her family and will be greatly missed by them and the many friends she has made during her life.

She is survived by her husband Michael of Chino Valley, daughter Laura Miller of Mesa; sons, Barry and Robert Sanders both of Chino Valley; sisters, Marie Young of Saticoy, Calif., Patricia Priest of Chino Valley, Mary Doheney and Harriet Harky of Phoenix; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, graveside services at Chino Valley Cemetery.
