Jerene Morrison
Jerene Yvonne Morrison, 64, of Prescott, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in Seligman.
She was born Nov. 9, 1934, in Glendale, Calif., to Jesse Robert and Laura Anna (Winton) Igou.
Mrs. Morrison worked as a licensed practical nurse for numerous nursing homes and medical facilities throughout Arizona. She loved caring for the sick and helping others. She enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing, and she entered her work in many Yavapai County fairs.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Sr. of Cold Spring, Minn., Franklin Jr. and Thomas, both of Paulden; brother, Kirk Igou of Diamond Bar, Calif.; sister, Sandra Wilkinson of Camarillo, Calif.; stepson, Michael of Cypress, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1001 Ruth St., with visitation one hour prior to services, in the Relief Society Room. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Dale Thomas
Dale L. Thomas, 70, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at his home in Prescott.
He was born Jan. 7, 1929, in Elliott, Iowa, to James and Vera (Graul) Thomas.
Mr. Thomas served his country in the Navy for three-and-a-half years during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He worked as director of construction on high-rise buildings for C.D. Investments in Los Angeles. He was proud of his accomplishments in the construction field, from which he retired in 1980 after 30 years.
On Jan. 21, 1949, he married Dorothy Schmidt. Just this month, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They moved to Prescott from Nixa, Mo., in the spring of 1994.
Mr. Thomas enjoyed any outside activity, but especially camping and hunting and fishing with his family and friends, who will greatly miss him.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his only son, Ricky Dale Thomas.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Mae Thomas of Prescott; sisters, Dorothy Hatfield of Malvern, Iowa, Lola Lewis of Westminster, Colo., and Ruth Divis of Omaha, Neb.; and a brother, Eugene Thomas of Wheatridge, Colo.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 Cortez St. in Prescott.

Linda Jo Owens
Linda Jo Owens, 56, a former Chino Valley resident, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She was born May 20, 1942, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Clarence and Ellen (Clark) Woodhurst.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Owens; father, Bud Woodhurst; daughters, Jolynn Snell, Mary Polland and Kimberly Slonaker; son, Gene Owens, Jr.; brother, Buddy Woodhurst; sisters, Janalee Erkle, Sharon Lawson and Susan Siegfried; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memory Chapel, 131 Grove Ave., in Prescott. Interment will follow at Chino Valley Cemetery.

Martha Mascarenas
Martha Ann Mascarenas, 59, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at her home in Chino Valley.
She was born on Sept. 24, 1939, to William and Eva (Cullers) McHenry in Marion, Ind.
Mrs. Mascarenas moved to Arizona 46 years ago from Indiana and to Chino Valley 15 years ago. She owned and operated Marty and Mike's Junk Store in Chino Valley.
Survivors include her husband, Miguel of Chino Valley; daughters, Kelly Kurtz of Tucson and Kerry Kurtz of Flagstaff; stepdaughters, Diana Porter of Tucson, Laura Jones and Catherine Mascarenas, both of Nashville, Tenn.; stepsons, Miguel Mascarenas, Jr., of Chino Valley, and Carlos Mascarenas of Nashville; brothers, Richard McHenry of Benson and William McHenry of Chandler; and eight grandchildren.
No services are planned; however the family suggests memorial contributions to the Yavapai Humane Society, 1625 Sundog Ranch Road, Prescott, AZ 86301.

Paul Jones
Paul Dane Jones, 76, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 3, 1922, in Ardmore, Okla., to Clifford Warren and Lettie (Maddux) Jones.
Mr. Jones was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was shot down and was a prisoner of war. He retired after 22 years of service as a senior master sergeant.
He was a member and past president of the D.A.V., member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and of the Yavapai X-P.O.W., Yavapai Chapter. He volunteered much of his time at the Veterans Affairs Hospital. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his daughters, Paula Jones of Allentown, Pa., Katherine Stumpf of Chicago, Ill., and Jennifer Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo.; son, Clifford of Aurora, Colo.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Veterans Administration chapel.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Veterans Administration, Hospice Care, 500 E. Highway 89, Prescott, AZ 86313.

The Rev. Merle 'PeeWee' Heatwole
The Rev. Merle Eugene "PeeWee" Heatwole, 92, of Prescott, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, in Prescott.
He was born June 20, 1907, in Uniontown, Pa., to Frank and Josephine Heatwole.
The Rev. Heatwole moved to Glendale with his family in 1912. He married Iola Brown in 1927. They moved to Skull Valley in 1945, where they farmed for two years.
In 1948 the Rev. Heatwole began a Frito distributorship known as "PeeWee Distributing Company, " which he operated until his retirement, at which time he turned the company over to his son, Tom.
He founded the Skull Valley Community Church and was its pastor for 32 years. The Rev. Heatwole served on the board that built the Yavapai Regional Medical Center, was man of the year in 1965, and received the Salvation Army "Other" award.
In 1953 he organized the Skull Valley Skunks softball team that played together for 15 years. In 1977 he was elected to the Arizona Softball Hall of Fame.
The Rev. Heatwole loved the old hymns and conducted old-fashioned hymn sings in many states in addition to a monthly "Hymn Sing in the Park" held on the downtown courthouse plaza during the 1970s. His greatest joys were sharing his Christian faith and enjoying his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Merlene Neil of Prescott; sons, Tommy of Prescott and Dwane of Page; brother, Don of Glendale; sister, Helene Heitmeyer of Mesa; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Iola, in 1997.
A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Samaritan Village Chapel, Prescott.

John Duane Walker
John Duane Walker, 67, of Chino Valley, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at a Prescott care center.
He was born March 12, 1932, in Belle Fourche, S.D., to Newman D. and Zeta (Smith) Walker.
Mr. Walker had lived in Arizona for the past 54 years and in the Prescott area for 21 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a carpenter, and a member of the Church of the Nazarene.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing and sports, but most of all, his family.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Onita, of Chino Valley; daughters, Karen Walker of Gilbert and Kathryn Crew of Chino Valley; step-sister, Shirley Miller of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mountain View Cemetery, Prescott, with Dr. B. Edwin McDonald officiating.
