Marion Wood

Marion Wood, 72, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998, at Beverly Health and Rehab Center in Brandon, Fla.

Sue was born June 5, 1925, in Syracuse, N.Y.

Mrs. Wood moved to Florida one year ago, from Dewey. She worked as a contract management specialist for NASA for more than 22 years.

Survivors include her sons, Dr. Bruce Waterman and Robert Waterman, both of Brandon, Fla., and Jim Waterman of Mobile, Ala.; daughter, Patricia Massaro of Temple Terrace, Fla.; brother, George Dunn of Webster, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Stowers Brandon Chapel in Brandon, Fla., with the Rev. Gary Cartwright officiating.

Stowers Funeral Home in Brandon helped the family with arrangements.

Joseph Maloy

Joseph E. Maloy, 87, of Phoenix, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998, in Ash Fork.

He was born July 29, 1910, in Hartford, Conn., to John and Margaret (Pullis) Maloy.

Mr. Maloy formerly owned a restaurant in Durham, Conn., and later worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Arizona in the maintenance department. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian, of Phoenix; daughters, Barbara French of Ash Fork, Patricia Smith of Peoria and Peg Maloy of Glendale; brothers, Edmund and Buddy; sisters, Betty Quinn and Ann Clair; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Private cremation will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

The Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home helped the family with arrangements.

Lois Smith

Lois A. Smith, 76, died Friday, May 15, 1998, in Dewey.

She was born Aug. 7, 1921, in Worcester, Mass., to Thomas and Constance (Perry) Rennick.

Mrs. Smith was a loving mother, and she enjoyed her work and the simple things in life. She moved to Dewey from California two weeks ago.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah of California; son, David of Dewey; brother, Waldo Rennick of California; sister, Sally Flaherty of Massachusetts; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Couture.

Funeral services will be private. Interment will be in Redwood Memorial Gardens in Dewey.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Family Care, 100 E. Sheldon St., Prescott, AZ 86301.

Violet Nickerson

Violet May Nickerson, 77, died Saturday, May 9, 1998, at her home in Prescott Valley.

She was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Oakland, Calif., to Bob and Hester (Shirek) Arnburger. She married John Nickerson on Nov. 24, 1984, in Clear Lake, Calif.

Mrs. Nickerson was a member of the Women's Army Corps during World War II.

Survivors include her husband, John; daughter, Luvina Shirell of New Mexico; brother, Edward; and sister, Mary of California.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 8, at National Cemetery in Phoenix.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Family Care Hospice, 100 E. Sheldon St., Prescott, AZ 86301.

Madeline Archer

Madeline Archer, 93, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, in Prescott Valley.

She was born Dec. 2, 1904, in Canada, to William and Ada (Brown) Crosbie.

Mrs. Archer was a retired department store manager. She moved to Prescott five years ago from California.

Survivors include her husband, Douglas; daughter, Larnell Crise of Prescott; brother, William Crosbie of Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.; sisters, Eulalie Vincent of Escondido, Calif., and Kathleen Nador of Westlake Village, Calif.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Memory Chapel Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mountain View Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Family Care, 100 E. Sheldon St., Prescott, AZ 86301.

Robert Metcalf

Robert Allen Metcalf, 74, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998, in Prescott.

He was born June 1, 1923, in Aztec, N.M., to Monet Gould and Zora (Thompson) Metcalf.

Mr. Metcalf married Barbara Marie Marron on Oct. 18, 1942. He graduated from Poly High School in Riverside, Calif., and served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years during World War II and the Korean conflict.

He worked as a sanitation supervisor for the Yavapai County Health Department for six years, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Fleet Reserve Association.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Prescott; daughter, Sister Kilian Metcalf of Tucson; son, Daniel of Lakeside; sisters, Jean Snider of Clarkdale, Doris Hunt of Riverside, Calif., Helen Willsford of Ukiah, Calif., and Shirley Patton of Vista, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center at a later date. Cremation was private.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Arizona Kidney Foundation, 4019 N. 44th St., #201, Phoenix, AZ 85008, or to Hospice Family Care, 100 E. Sheldon St., Prescott, AZ 86301.

Boyd Smith

Boyd Ray Smith, 56, died Friday, May 15, 1998, in Prescott Valley.

He was born Aug. 11, 1941, in Emmitt, Idaho, to Denny and Hazel (Graham) Smith.

Mr. Smith graduated from Emmitt High School in 1959. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964. He was a OSP technician for AT&T, starting in San Francisco, Calif., in 1967, then transferred to Boise, Idaho, in 1974, and to Phoenix in 1987. He moved to Prescott Valley in 1990. He was a member of the C.W.A. union local #7050.

Survivors include his wife, Linda of Prescott Valley; stepdaughters, Stephanie Stone of California and Bethany Lincoln and Christy Filasky, both of Phoenix; adopted daughters, Melanie Wylley and Shannon Roden, both of Idaho; sons, Denny of Idaho and Gerrod of Georgia; brothers, Mervin and Larry, both of Washington, and Rex of Idaho; mother, Hazel Alsup of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and 10 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7885 E. Long Look Drive in Prescott Valley, with Bishop White officiating.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Arizona Heart Institute Foundation, 2632 N. 20th St., Phoenix, AZ 85006.
