Ronald Setter

Ronald J. Setter, 60, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 20, 1937, in Minneapolis, Minn., to James Carl and Florence (Harding) Setter. He moved to Prescott from San Diego, Calif., in 1993.

Mr. Setter was employed by the Wiremold Co. in West Hartford, Conn., as regional sales manager for 13 years. He also worked for Northern States Power in Minneapolis for 21 years.

He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Wisconsin BB-64. He was a former president of the Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, Inc.

He was very involved in Little League baseball and the Boy Scouts. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was very involved in the church, chairing the church festival and serving as a Eucharist minister and lector in Minneapolis. He loved hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Angela; son, Todd of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; daughters, Joy Setter of Riverside, Calif., and Kristine Gent of Phoenix.; parents, Florence and Russell Schmidt of Buffalo, Minn.; his twin brother, Richard of Minneapolis, Minn.; and one grandchild.

A funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury St., with the Rev. Fred LeClaire, C.M.F., officiating.

Luann Williams

Luann D. Williams, 41, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at her home in Mesa.

She was born Jan. 14, 1956, in Harvey, Ill., to Luster and June (Hill) Hardin. She moved to Prescott from her native Illinois in 1962, and attended Prescott High School.

She married her husband, Don, in 1972 and lived in several locations due to his career in the military. In 1985, they returned to Arizona, where he retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1990, and they have resided in Mesa for the past five years.

Survivors include her husband, Don; daughter, Lisa Paul of Mesa; sisters, Linda Smessaert of Boulder, Colo., and Dyan Ware of Hobbs, N.M.; brother, Larry Hardin of Wilhoit; mother, June Waitman of Wilhoit; maternal grandmother, Mary Hill of Phoenix; and one grandchild.

Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Memory Chapel Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., and graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Mt. View Cemetery.

Helen Morse

Helen Rose Morse, 86, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at her home in Prescott.

She was born Oct. 28, 1912, in Dayton, Ohio, to George and Nellie Vito. She had been a Prescott resident for the past 16 years, and lived in Michigan prior to moving to Arizona.

Mrs. Morse worked for True Value hardware store in Prescott for 11 years. She enjoyed keeping a clean home and caring for her family.

Survivors include her sons, Andy, George and Chuck of Michigan, Bob of Colorado, and Paul of Prescott; daughters, Betty Toth of Prescott, and Janet Winkowski of Michigan; two sisters and two brothers; 30 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, Andrew, preceded her in death in April 1972.

A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Victorian Chapel of Hampton Funeral Home, 240 S. Cortez St.

The family suggests memorials to The March of Dimes. Hampton Funeral Home will receive donations and pass them on to the March of Dimes organization.

Hampton Funeral Home helped the family with local arrangements.

Whipple Funeral Home in St. Montrose, Mich., will handle arrangements in Michigan at a later date.

Jeffrey Bennett

Jeffrey Lynn Bennett, 49, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at his home in Chino Valley.

He was born Nov. 2, 1948, in Ridgewood, W. Va., to Howard Keith and Mary Frances (Hensley) Bennett.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving honorably with three tours in Vietnam as a Navy Seal.

Mr. Bennett worked as a carpenter. He moved to Arizona 36 years ago from West Virginia. He was a volunteer at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Susan, of Pinetop; son, Troy of Mesa; daughters, Michelle and Erin, both of Mesa; step-daughters, Melanie Holt of Pinetop, Angela, Andrea and Monique Smith, all of Chino Valley; brothers, Ronnie of Chandler and Mark of Gilbert; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service, with Naval honors, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.

Inurnment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America, 401 E. Indian School, #432, Phoenix, AZ 85013.

Abia Judd

Abia Waldemar Judd, 90, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 1998, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 7, 1907, in Fredonia, to Asa Waldemar Judd and Lilly Lenore (Brown) Judd. He lived his entire life in Arizona.

Mr. Judd was a school teacher, principal and superintendent of the Prescott Unified School District for 34 years, retiring in June 1973.

He and his wife, Grace, were married June 30, 1946, in the St. George LDS Temple, and were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He taught at the Lincoln, Miller Valley and Washington elementary schools, then was superintendent of Prescott Unified School District for 22 years.

He was known for his integrity and for being a gentleman in all situations. He was devoted to his family, and especially to his wife.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Grace; sons, Whitney of Chandler and Eric of Kanab, Utah; daughter, Terry Lenore Robertson of Anchorage, Alaska; brother, Whitney of San Diego, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Abia Judd Elementary School, 1749 Williamson Valley Road.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Abia Judd Elementary School, with Bishop Wade Kartchner, Copper Basin Ward, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, officiating.

Larry Waugh

Larry V. Waugh, 57, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 28, 1940, in Huntington, W. Va., to Vernon V. and Nellie (Brubaker) Waugh. He moved to Prescott in 1985.

Mr. Waugh served in the U.S. Air Force from November 1957 to October 1980. He retired as first sergeant of the 3415th Security Police Squadron at Lowery Air Force Base in Denver, Colo. He also served in Vietnam and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with six Bronze Service Stars.

He worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, where he taught self-directed team management, as well as working in nurses education and training. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, American Legion Post #6, Buckey O'Neill VFW and Prescott Toastmasters.

Mr. Waugh was a big fan of the Denver Broncos. He liked woodworking and playing racquetball, and he looked forward to his annual fishing trips with his best friend, Hank. He was proudest of his Air Force career and the family that loved him; his wife of 20 years, Debby, and his three children, Kelly, Marc and Misty. He was blessed with an exceptional relationship with his mother-in-law, Jody, who will miss him greatly.

He had a deep love of the Lord and his family, and truly believed in duty, honor and country.

Survivors include his wife, Debby, whom he married on Dec. 23, 1977; daughters, Misty Waugh of Tucson and Kelly Emfinger of Peoria; son, Marc of Phoenix; brothers, Ron of Milford, Ohio, and Greg of Sebring, Fla.; mother, Nellie of Sebring, Fla.; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon, and brother, Robert Dale.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Goodwin and Marina streets, with the Rev. John Doyel officiating.

Private cremation will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions in Mr. Waugh's name to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 226, Prescott, AZ 86302.
