Harriet Roher
Harriet A. Roher, 86, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at her home in Prescott.
She was born Jan. 8, 1911, in Bloomfield, N.J., to William and Anna Zergiebel. She moved to Prescott in 1994 from New Jersey.
Mrs. Roher was a child of God. She loved the Lord with all her heart.
Survivors include her daughter, Ruth Huyler of Prescott; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence.
Private family services were held.

Vera Bunce
Vera L. Bunce, 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at a local nursing home.
She was born March 12, 1917, in Socorro, N.M., to James and Georgia (Walduip) Martin.
Mrs. Bunce worked as an IBM operator in the banking industry for many years.
She married Douglas Bunce on June 12, 1955, in Las Vegas, Nev. They moved to Prescott Valley from Compton, Calif., in 1987.
Mrs. Bunce was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Prescott Valley, and a former member of the Eastern Star in California.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas of Prescott Valley; son, Gerald Graham of Dallas, Texas; sister, Mona Worthington of Socorro, N.M.; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Graham, in 1990.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Southern Baptist Church, Highway 69 and Pleasant View Drive in Prescott Valley, with Pastor Murray Hardy officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Northern Arizona Chapter, 225 Grove Ave., Suite B, Prescott, AZ 86301.

Eleanor Phillips
Eleanor Mae Phillips, 90, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at a hospital in Marysville, Calif.
She was born May 16, 1907, in Castle Shannon, Pa.
Mrs. Phillips, who was a homemaker, lived in Prescott for 25 years.
Survivors include her son, Richard Phillips of Laramie, Wyo.; daughters, Wendy Littler of Carson City, Nev., Jo Ann Littler of Quartzsite, and Donna Cortez of Live Oak, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Phillips, and three grandchildren.
A private family service was held at a chapel in Marysville, Calif.

Mary Wilson
Mary V. Wilson, 81, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, in Prescott.
She was born Nov. 27, 1916, in Anselmo, Neb., to Patrick J. and Alta V. Condon.
Mrs. Wilson married C.M. "Chuck" Wilson of Alliance, Neb., in 1937. She worked many years as an insurance secretary and receptionist for medical doctors.
Mrs. Wilson retired in 1976 and she and her husband became "snowbirds, " dividing their time between Arizona and Nebraska. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1987.
Following her husband's death in 1990, she moved permanently to Prescott.
In Alliance, she was active in the Elks lodge ladies auxiliary, and was well-known for her fund-raising for cancer research. She was an avid bowler, golfer and Nebraska Cornhusker fan.
Survivors include her son, C. Milton Wilson of Ankeny, Iowa; daughters, Patricia Wilson of Tamarac, Fla., and Cheryl Moran of Prescott; sisters, Ellen Schoppe of Houston, Texas, and Alice Condon of Denver; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Alliance, Neb.

Maria Suarez
Maria Alicia Suarez, 57, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at her home in Prescott Valley.
She was born Oct. 21, 1940, in Havana, Cuba, to Gabriel and Alicia (Fiallo) Fernandes. She moved to the United States from Cuba in 1961.
She married Aquilino Suarez in Miami, Fla., on Feb. 21, 1970. She moved to Prescott Valley from Wisconsin in 1991.
Mrs. Suarez was a nurse at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include her husband, Aquilino of Prescott Valley; and son, Gabriel of Prescott.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Prescott.

Lilburn Murphy
Lilburn P. Murphy, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 10, 1914, in Peoria, to Arthur and Clearsa Ann (Phelps) Murphy.
Mr. Murphy owned and operated Murphy Landscaping for many years before retiring in 1979. He also worked in the mines in Miami, Ariz., from 1936 to 1938, and in the Grand Canyon area, building trails and doing other work during the 1930s.
He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps of Arizona.
Mr. Murphy enjoyed playing several musical instruments.
He married Gladys E. Swingle on Nov. 7, 1936, in Phoenix. They moved to Mayer in 1979.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys of Mayer; daughter, Janet Martin of Mayer; sisters, Jewel Burke of Phoenix and Dorothy Bates of San Bernardino, Calif.; brother, Jesse of Phoenix; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley. Graveside services will be private.

Benjamin Petty Jr.
Benjamin Franklin Petty Jr., 96, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Las Fuentes Care Center.
He was born Nov. 19, 1901, in Slaughter, Miss., to the Rev. Benjamin F. and Addie (Pruitt) Petty. He also became a member of the Southern Baptist Church.
Mr. Petty married Verda Sandstone in 1925. The family moved to Poland Junction from San Bruno, Calif., in 1944, and he remained in Yavapai County the rest of his life.
He mined in the Bradshaw and Superstition Mountains areas, and in 1947 was employed at the Iron King mine in Humboldt as a toplander. When the mine closed, he worked for the City of Prescott. He later was employed by Orme Ranch School as a house painter. He worked there for 20 years, retiring and later returning to the school to work as a night supervisor. He stayed there until his full retirement.
Mr. Petty and his wife, Verda, enjoyed gardening, growing many beautiful flowers and prize fruit trees. They also shared their love of music, both having beautiful voices. Verda played the piano and Benjamin the drums.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Jordan of Prescott Valley; sister, Virginia Anderson of Louisville, Ky.; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great -grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verda, in 1990, and his eldest daughter, Wreatha June Williams, who died in 1994.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, with the Rev. Murray Hardy, pastor of Prescott Valley First Southern Baptist Church, officiating. Concluding services will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
