Elroy Greseth
Elroy "Roy" Greseth, 76, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997, in Watson, Minn.
He was born June 26, 1921, in Lac Qui Parle County, Minn., to Gust and Thora (Kleven) Greseth. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church in rural Dawson. He attended school in rural Dawson, Milan and Appleton.
Mr. Greseth married Dorothy Schmidt on Feb. 28, 1946, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church parsonage in Montevideo, Minn. They farmed a few years and then moved to Watson, where they became members of the Watson Lutheran Church, where he was a trustee, and also was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department. He was a building contractor in the Montevideo and Watson area for many years.
The Greseths moved to Prescott in 1977, where they joined the American Lutheran Church. Mr. Greseth volunteered for Prescott People Who Care, visiting shut-ins. He enjoyed music, and especially enjoyed playing the banjo. He loved being with people and family. He was a faithful and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; sons, Larry and Tim, both of Prescott; daughter, Lynnette Torgerson of Watson, Minn.; stepsons, Eric and Jack Pogue, both of Prescott; brothers, Verdie and Palmer; sisters, Ruth, Florence, Thorine, Alma and Arline; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Gilman, Thorsten and George; and sisters Gladys, Sally and Mable.
Visitation will be held beginning at 6 p.m. today at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Montevideo, Minn., and will continue one hour prior to services.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Watson Lutheran Church in Watson, Minn., with the Rev. Harold Knutson officiating.
Burial will be held in the church cemetery.

Duane Coffee
C. Duane Coffee, 53, died Monday, Dec. 1, 1997, at his home in Prescott Valley.
He was born May 20, 1944, in Galion, Ohio, to William and Cecilia (Smothers) Coffee. He moved to Prescott Valley from California in 1989.
Mr. Coffee was an associate broker for Century 21 in Prescott Valley, and was also a member of the Prescott Area Association of Realtors.
He is survived by his mother, Cecilia Whaley of Ohio.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley, with Pastor Gene Wands officiating.

Shirley Barrier
Shirley H. Barrier, 58, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at the Arbors Care Home in Camp Verde.
She was born Dec. 1, 1939, in Casa Grande to Andrew and Faye (Herring) Jewett. She married James A. Barrier Sr. Dec. 6, 1960, in Las Vegas, Nev. They moved to Spring Valley 11 years ago.
Survivors include her husband, James of Spring Valley; sons, James and John, both of Phoenix, and David German of Spring Valley; daughter, Brenda Flanders of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, James Jewett of California; sister, Billie McClain of Texas; and five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley.

Theda Herz
Theda M. Herz, 53, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, at her home in Prescott Valley.
She was born July 15, 1944, in Kansas City, Mo., to Richard V. And Theda Sara (Hickey) Herz. She moved to Prescott Valley from Grinnell, Iowa, in June 1996.
Miss Herz completed her undergraduate studies at Kansas University and earned her masters and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois. She was director of South American studies at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. She was also a Spanish professor. During her 20-year tenure, she was awarded several Fulbright scholarships, which allowed her to travel extensively in Mexico and South America. Her research was well-published.
She was a member of Kansas University Alumni and was a very supportive and active member of the greater Prescott community. She served by court appointment as a special advocate for CASA and worked for Habitat for Humanity, completely embracing the program from serving as a translator to pounding nails on the homes being built. She volunteered for the Yavapai County Literacy Program and the Big Brothers/Big Sisters mentoring program in Prescott Valley.
Miss Herz enjoyed and appreciated multi-cultural diversities. She liked people and had a fondness for cats. She was well-read, and enjoyed politics and doing research. She enjoyed her time in Arizona, hiking the Grand Canyon and, just recently, Granite Mountain.
Survivors include her brother, Richard of Mission Hills, Kan.; sister, Elicia Noelle-Herz of Alexandria, Va.; and parents, Richard and Theda Sara Herz of Olathe, Kan.
A Christian burial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., with Deacon Bill Davis of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating.
Primate cremation services will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

Dorothy Baiko
Dorothy P. Baiko, 76, died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997, at her home in Prescott Valley.
She was born Dec. 7, 1920, in McCook, Neb., to Ben Langmaid and Pearl Caphcart. She moved to Prescott Valley from California 13 years ago.
She was a loving mother and grandmother, and enjoyed traveling and hobbies such as stained glass, sewing and reading. She was also a volunteer at the Veterans Administration Hospital and Casa Senior Center in Prescott and Prescott Valley.
Survivors include her sons, Terry Baiko and Elvin and William Reamey, all of California, Peter Baiko of North Carolina and Robert Baiko of Prescott Valley; daughters, Sally Wilcox and Sandra Hammond, both of Prescott Valley, and Barbara Tafe of New York; brother, Elvin Langmaid of Payson; 18 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley, with the Rev. James Cunningham officiating.

Laree Craft
Laree Craft, 94, died Monday, Dec. 1, 1997, at a local nursing home.
She was born Oct. 23, 1903, in Dausboro, Ga., to Thomas Thigpen and Rosa McDaniel. She moved to Prescott in 1923, after contracting tuberculosis, and was a patient at the Old Flynn Sanitarium. She recovered rapidly in the mountain air of Prescott.
Mrs. Craft met and married Roy Craft, who worked for the City of Prescott. She worked for the law firm of Favour and Baker later Favour, Baker and Crawford for several years. She and her husband bought a house on North Washington Street. She continued to live there after her husband's death, in 1963, until she became ill and was admitted to Prescott Samaritan Village this past summer.
After working for the law firm for many years, she worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center and held various secretarial positions until her retirement in the 1970s.
She is survived by nieces Nancy Thigpen of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Ann Beane of Moorehead, Ky.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Mt. View Cemetery, with the Rev. James Cunningham officiating.

Ray Lambson
H. Ray Lambson, 80, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, in Prescott.
He was born Feb. 24, 1917, in Ramah, N.M. He moved to Prescott in 1956, with his wife, LaVerne, and four children.
Mr. Lambson was self-employed during his life, and was involved in several enterprises. In Prescott, he owned the Sunset Hills and Lazy Dude restaurants with his brother, Glenn. He later became a real estate agent, and eventually owned several convenience markets in Prescott, Kingman, Sedona and Wickenburg prior to his retirement in 1980. He was actively involved in community and civic activities and was a member of the Rotary Club.
Mr. Lambson was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in the stake high council and as the bishop of Prescott First Ward. He served two full-time missions for his church, one as a young man to the northwestern states and the other with his wife, Marcia, in Baton Rouge, La. He served in many other church capacities during his life.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia; daughters, Patricia Harris and Georgia Lange, both of Prescott, and Denise Ross of Mesa; son, Preston of Prescott; sister, Daisy Boyd of Dallas, Texas; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, LaVerne; his parents, Eugene and Sarah; and brothers, Robert and Glenn.
A viewing is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Sunrise Funeral Home, 8167 Highway 69 in Prescott Valley.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1003 Ruth St. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.
The family suggests memorials to the Mission Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
