Sylvia Hinrichs
Sylvia Mae Hinrichs, 78, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, in Escondido, Calif.
She was born Sept. 25, 1919, in Beloit, Wis., to Charles O. And Jennie (Baker) Hopper. She married Herbert O. Hinrichs in 1943.
Mrs. Hinrichs was a resident of Prescott for many years, and was a member of Prescott's First Lutheran Church.
Survivors include daughters Barbara Vester of Los Angeles, Calif., and Bonnie Shipley of Escondido, Calif.; son Herbert Hinrichs of Chino Valley; brother, Charles Hopper of Beloit, Wis.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, who died in Prescott in 1995.
Graveside services were held Dec. 5 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
The family suggests memorials be made to First Lutheran Church of Prescott or to the Alzheimer's Association.

Verg Chemas
Verg Neva Chemas, 78, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at her home in Humboldt.
She was born Aug. 24, 1919, in Alberta, Canada, to Harold Reykdal and Alice Mae (Everson) Reykdal. She had been a resident of Arizona for the past 76 years.
She married Pet J. Chemas in Prescott.
Mrs. Chemas attended schools in Prescott as a child. Her father owned and operated Skyline Motel and Reykdal Sporting Goods, where she worked for many years. She also worked for Safeway Food Stores for 23 years in the meat department.
Survivors include her sons, George of Humboldt and Harold of Mesa; daughter, Sonja Moore of Humboldt; sisters, Boots Berg of Vacaville, Calif., Alicia Dean of Atlanta, Ga., and Merilyn Mills of Phoenix; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Victorian Chapel of Hampton Funeral Home, 240 S. Cortez St., with Pastor Monty Ray Sears officiating.
Interment will follow at Humboldt Citizens Cemetery, Highway 69 in Humboldt.
The family suggests memorials be made to Yavapai Regional Medical Center, Hospice Restricted Fund, 1003 Willow Creek Road, Prescott, AZ 86301.

Ruth Sasser
Ruth Sasser, 89, died Monday, Dec. 8, 1997, in the Prescott Samaritan Village.
She was born July 1, 1908, in New York State, and moved to Arizona 27 years ago from California.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was active as a Sunday school teacher. She took great pride in her homemaking abilities.
Survivors include her son, Bill Lutz of Spokane, Wash.; daughter, Ruth Yocum of Upland, Calif.; stepson, Keith Sasser of Scottsdale; stepdaughter, Betty Riggle of Prescott; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Floyd, preceded her in death in 1995.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Prescott Samaritan Village Chapel, 1030 Scott Drive.
Private interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery.
In lieu of material remembrances, the family suggests that friends remember the Prescott Samaritan Village, 1030 Scott Drive, Prescott, AZ 86301.

Elizabeth Hulsey
Elizabeth Hulsey, 88, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at Brighton Gardens in Sun City.
She was born April 19, 1909, in Memphis, Texas, to Dan and Jamie (Adcock) Richardson. She moved to Tucson from California in 1949, and to Prescott in 1959.
Mrs. Hulsey loved to fish and go hunting. She had a wonderful collection of dolls, bottles and rocks. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Rita Jordan of Prescott Valley; brother, Eddie Richardson of Amarillo, Texas; sister, Lois Goffnett of Memphis, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Arizona Ruffner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Skip Forsman officiating.

Velma Griffith
Velma M. Griffith, 82, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at Meadow Park Care Center in Prescott.
She was born Sept. 29, 1915, in Correctionville, Iowa. She married Hammon Griffith in Lordsburg, N.M., on July 30, 1955.
Mrs. Griffith spent some time in Illinois before moving to Arizona. She had lived in Arizona for more than 55 years, and resided in the local area for more than 20 years.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Hammon; son, Michael of Phoenix; daughter, Joan Walling; step-daughters, Bertie Brown of Dewey and Margaret Phillips of Kansas; and brother, Bud Wallace of Washington.
Memorial services were held today at Sunrise Funeral Home. The Rev. Howard Griffith officiated.

Olie Ross
Olie Wendell Ross, 76, a resident of Dewey, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, in Prescott.
He was born July 26, 1921, in Monticello, Maine, to Thaddeus and Hattie (Belyea) Ross.
Mr. Ross served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married his wife, Laura, on April 4, 1949.
He was a member of the Latter Day Saints Church, Augusta Ward, and the V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife, Laura; daughters, Sandra Lane of Litchfield, Maine, Nancy Tarbox of Winthrop, Maine, Alice Lane of Chelsea, Maine, Lorelei Anderson of Portland, Maine, Martha Peterson of Provo, Utah, Rebecca Dempsey of South Jordan, Utah and Hattie Fletcher of Gardiner, Maine; sons, Daniel of Prescott Valley, and Thaddeus of Augusta; sister, Grace Campbell of Rangeley, Maine; 33 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Augusta, Maine.

John Mullen Jr.
John A. Mullen Jr., 66, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997, at his home in Chino Valley.
He was born June 27, 1931, in Fithian, Ill., to John A. Sr. And Dorothy (Hibler) Mullen.
Mr. Mullen was a supervisor in the chemistry department at the University of Illinois for many years before he retired in 1989 and moved to Chino Valley. He loved his dog, Lokie.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include nieces, Cheri Leigh Hough of Arizona and Gail Lynn Oesch of Indiana; nephews, Charles F. Martin of Chino Valley and Gary Allen of Phoenix.
Private family services were held.
