Wayne Geyer
Wayne J. Geyer, 63, died Friday, Dec. 12, 1997, at Desert Samaritan Care Center in Mesa.
He was born April 19, 1934, in East Troy, Wis., to August L. and Emra (Pecor) Geyer. He retired to Prescott from Phoenix in 1989.
He was employed by Salt River Project for 30 years, where he was a supervisor in transportation services. He was also part owner of Arabian Truck Caps in Prescott Valley, which he managed for four years until the business was sold earlier this year.
Mr. Geyer's hobbies included a love of race cars from Quarter-midgets to Formula V in building and maintaining them. After moving to Prescott, he became interested in gold prospecting. Camping and RV travel took the family to many places far and wide. Spending quality time with his children and grandchildren was of utmost importance, along with his involvement with the Knights of Columbus activities.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Irene; daughters, Lori of Scottsdale and Stephanie, serving in the U.S. Army near Seoul, Korea; sons, Alan of Phoenix and Greg of Scottsdale; sister, Jeanette Laris of Hawaii; brother, Lynn of Phoenix; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury Ave., with Fr. Fred LeClaire, pastor, officiating.

Pete Madrid
Pete Madrid, 87, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, at a local nursing home.
He was born March 22, 1910, in Duran, N.M., to Manuel and Cleofas (Leyva) Madrid. He married his wife, Erma, in 1947 in New Mexico. She preceded him in death in 1987.
Mr. Madrid was a supervisor for the State of New Mexico Land Department. He retired in 1975, and moved to Prescott in 1995 from Santa Fe, N.M.
Survivors include his son, Peter of Tucson; daughters, Liz Mason of Prescott and Joyce Bustos of Santa Fe, N.M.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial will be held Saturday in Espanola, N.M.

Violet Rice
Violet Rice, 88, of Prescott, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, at a care home in Prescott Valley.
She was born Sept. 7, 1909, in Imperial, Pa., to Otto and Emily (Boener) Georgi. She moved to Prescott 25 years ago.
She is survived by a sister, Lila Tapp of Mt. Laurel, N.J. Her husband, Robert, preceded her in death in 1993.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale.

John Williams
John L. "Jack" Williams, 75, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at a local nursing home.
He was born Oct. 21, 1922, in Yuma, to John L. And Edna (Richardson) Williams.
He married Jacqueline "Jackie" Dutton on Oct. 26, 1947, in Yuma, and they had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They moved to Prescott from Yuma 37 years ago.
Mr. Williams was a construction supervisor for the Highway Department for 15 years, retiring in 1983. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Chino Valley Sheriff's Posse and the Chino Valley Roping Club, and was a former member of the Civitan Club in Prescott and the Elks Lodge in Yuma. His favorite pastime was team roping.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie of Prescott; son, Johnny of Silver Springs, Nev.; daughters, Bonnie Babakian of Phoenix and Debi Johnson of Chino Valley; sisters, Fay Williams of Phoenix, Rea Crawford of Tucson and Betty Myers of Prescott Valley; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley, with Ronald Doty officiating.

Charles Smith
Charles W. Smith, 78, died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997, at his home in Prescott.
He was born June 2, 1919, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to John P. And Bernice (Jones) Smith. He grew up in Pasadena, Calif., except for his high school years. He graduated from Grants Pass High School in Grants Pass, Ore.
Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He taught sonar and radar at Treasure Island in San Francisco, Calif.
He graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering, and worked in the computer field until his retirement. He was a 47-year member of the Masonic Order, Integrity Lodge, Chicago, Ill.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Dorothy; daughters, Cheryl Smith of San Diego, Calif., and Diana Rae of Saugus, Calif.; sister, Helen Broat of Laverne, Calif.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Carter Wells Smith of Prescott.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Memory Chapel Mortuary.

Gerald Warner
Gerald Guy Warner, 52, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997, in Ash Fork.
He was born March 21, 1945, in Callaway, Neb., to James and Velma (Wagner) Warner. He moved to Arizona from Nebraska 16 years ago.
Survivors include his daughters, Suzette Nickle and Claudette Britt, both of Aurora, Colo., and Tisha Warner of Denver, Colo.; one brother, one sister, and two grandchildren.
Mr. Warner was buried at the Yavapai County Cemetery in Prescott.

Fred Labahn
Fred Labahn, 83, died Friday, Dec. 5, 1997, in Corona, Calif.
He was born Oct. 16, 1914, in Blue Island, Ill., to Frederick Carl and Hedwig (Reuss) Labahn. He moved to Prescott in 1977.
Mr. Labahn was interested in the natural sciences, being an accomplished birder, collector of sea shells, minerals and fossils, the latter being his most passionate hobby. He wrote numerous articles about fossils for several paleontological publications. He was a member of the Earth Science Club of Northern Illinois, the Mid-America Paleontology Society, the Paleontological Research Institution and the Mineralogical Society of Arizona.
He was very active with the Yavapai County Fair and also volunteered with the Prescott Frontier Days Rodeo. He was also an accomplished square dancer.
Survivors include his wife, Esther; sons, William of Florida, Lawrence of Illinois, and Sidney of Tennessee; daughter, Elizabeth of California; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at the Prescott United Methodist Church, 505 W. Gurley St.
