Leona Fox

Leona Mezzio Fox, of Prescott, died Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, at the home of her sister in Minaville, N.Y., following a long illness.

She was born to Ernest and Mabel Wood Reynolds, in the Town of Glen, Montgomery County, N.Y. She resided in Amsterdam, N.Y., until 1976, when she moved to Tempe. She moved to Prescott in 1986.

Mrs. Fox was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church of Amsterdam. She was married on Dec. 31, 1941, to Michael P. Mezzio Sr. He died Feb. 22, 1976. She was then married on May 29, 1983, to Thomas M. Fox.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas; sons, Martin Mezzio of Chandler and Stephen Mezzio of Tempe; daughters, Elaine Mezzio of Oakland, Calif., Mary Alice Montenaro of Spencerport, N.Y., Christine Mezzio of Scotia, N.Y., and Ann Marie Palmer of Deferiet, N.Y.; stepsons, Thomas Fox of Dallas, Texas, and Jack Fox of Phoenix; stepdaughter, Ellie Carroll of Phoenix; brothers, Virgil Reynolds of Albuquerque, N.M., Edward Reynolds of Johnstown, N.Y., Robert Reynolds and Leon Reynolds, both of Fultonville, N.Y., and Howard Reynolds of Fonda, N.Y.; sisters, Mildred Vunk of Fonda, N.Y., Florence Minch of Fort Hunter, N.Y., Alice Kane of Leesburgh, Fla., Orvetta Pedrick of Broadalbin, N.Y., and Edith Woodbeck of Minaville, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandson, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Betz Funeral Home, Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Cecilia's Church, Broadway, Fonda, N.Y. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson, N.Y.

Jackson and Betz Funeral Home in Fultonville, N.Y., assisted the family with arrangements.

Louise Palermo

Louise Frances Palermo, 71, died Oct. 21, 1997, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 17, 1997, in North East, Pa., to Walter R. and Hildegard (Kinyon) Loucks.

Mrs. Palermo worked as an executive secretary for a finance company. She moved to Prescott from San Marcos, Calif., five years ago.

She was the president of the Highland Pines Home Owners Association and past president of the Executive Women's International. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Larry; daughter, Cheryl Kirchner of Portsmouth, N.H.; son, Craig J. Steinbrich of San Jacinto, Calif.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 24 at Hampton Funeral Home in Prescott, with Fr. Richard Farrell, C.M.F., officiating.

Inurnment was at Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Palermo's name to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury Ave., Prescott, Ariz. 86301.

Hampton Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Donald Shaunesey

Donald Glen Shaunesey, 75, died Friday, Oct. 31, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Auburn, Maine, to Charles R. and Maude Shaunesey.

He and his wife, Beverly, were married in Bath, Maine. They moved from Maine to Arizona 41 years ago and to Prescott Valley 21 years ago.

Mr. Shaunesey worked as a machinist in the aircraft industry. He also retired from Better Bilt in Prescott Valley. He and his wife then opened and operated the Shaune Donut and Sandwich Shop in Prescott Valley.

He served his country well in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the DAV and past commander of VFW Post 10227.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Beverly; son, Michael of Phoenix; daughter, Patricia A. Yeshulas of Boston, Mass.; brothers, Charles of Westfield, N.J., and Irvin of Poland, Maine; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sunrise Funeral Home.

Karen VanNornam

Karen Lynn VanNornam, 45, died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 24, 1952, in South Gate, Calif., to Michael P. and Exie Kathryn (Griggs) Schellin.

She moved to Chino Valley from Newberry Springs, Calif., in 1994. She was a homemaker and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include stepsons, Dale of Barstow, Calif., and David of Chino Valley; stepdaughter, Dawn Haberman of Green River, Wyo.; and four grandchildren.

Private interment was at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home helped the family with arrangements.

Michael Sherban

Michael Sherban, 91, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997, at a nursing home in Prescott Valley.

He was born Sept. 25, 1906, in McKeesport, Pa.

Mr. Sherban was retired from Westinghouse Electric Company. He moved to Prescott from Roseville, Mich., in 1979. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Prescott.

Survivors include his son, Mitchell of Prescott; daughters, Sylvia Tilson of Prescott, and Ann Marie Myners of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Redwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dewey, with the Rev. Gerald Yaeger officiating.

Sunrise Funeral Home helped the family with arrangements.

James Yerian

James E. Yerian, 71, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997, at the Prescott Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

He was born May 24, 1926, in Springfield, Ohio, to Maurice and Anita (Bogard) Yerian.

He was a machinist for Rohr Aircraft in California before retiring in 1992. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Yerian married Janice Walker on March 20, 1983, in San Diego, Calif. They moved to Wilhoit three and a half years ago from California.

Survivors include his wife, Janice of Wilhoit; stepsons, Robert McCollum of Blythe, Calif., and Craigory Jones of Wilhoit; stepdaughter, Doretta McCollum of Humboldt; and four grandchildren.

Private family services were held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.

Verna Kreft

Verna Pearl Kreft, 87, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997, at Promise Land Adult Care Center in Prescott Valley.

She was born June 30, 1910, in Eden Township, Brown County, near Morgan, Minn., to Julius and Ida (Pretzer) Marotzke.

Mrs. Kreft was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. As a small child, the family moved to the Vesta area, where she attended country school.

She married Leo Kreft on Sept. 1, 1931, at St. John's Lutheran Parsonage in Vesta. The couple settled in Echo Township for a short while, then moved to the Vesta area in Underwood Township, where they farmed until 1975. After retirement, the couple continued to live on the farm until 1987, when they moved to Redwood Falls, Minn. In August 1994, she moved to Prescott Valley, where she has lived since.

Survivors include her son, Floyd of Mayer; daughters, Darlene Kuehn of Redwood Falls, Minn., and Pearl Anderson of Belview; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one step-grandchild and six step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; brother; sister; grandson, and great-grandson.

Funeral services and burial were held in Minnesota.
