Grace Moon

Grace Geraldine Moon, 62, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997, at Las Fuentes Care Center in Prescott.

She was born April 14, 1935, in Turtle Creek, Pa., to James and Ida McDonald. She moved to Prescott from Turtle Creek in1962.

Mrs. Moon was a homemaker who loved the holidays, Christmas and the Fourth of July. She enjoyed going to parades, the Prescott Rodeo, and always looked forward to the courthouse lighting. She would spend hours listening to country music.

She spent many pleasant hours with her grandchildren, whom she was most proud of, and gave extra attention to their birthdays, making them as special as she could. She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, James Mathews of Phoenix, Jonathan Carlson and Bruce Reynolds, both of Prescott, Ross McDonald of California, and Eddie Flatt; daughters, Jackie Ramirez of Parker, Wash., and Eloise Harger; and 12 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St.

Helen Moore

Helen Moore, 83, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997, at Las Fuentes Care Center in Prescott.

She was born April 25, 1914, in Bayonne, N.J., to Joseph and Mary (Plaga) Kotowski. She moved to Prescott from Eatontown, N.J., in July 1981.

Mrs. Moore was employed by Rowan Industries as an electronics technician for 30 years, retiring in June 1981. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling and would spend many pleasant hours in her garden. She was proudest of her grandchildren's achievements. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Jerry of Prescott; sisters, Mary Meyer of Austin, Texas, Tessie Moody of Winter Park, Fla., and Sally Mayo of New York, N.Y.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A private family service was held.

Lonnie Allen

Lonnie M. Allen, 85, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 1997, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Prescott.

He was born July 6, 1912, in Magdalena, N.M., to Lonnie and Alma (Potter) Allen. He moved to Tucson from New Mexico in 1936, and to Chino Valley in 1980.

Mr. Allen was employed by Prescott Livestock Auction for 12 years, as a cowboy, retiring in 1992.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He spent most of his life as a cowboy, and was known for his abilities on the rodeo circuit in the West. He was a member of the Cowboy Turtles Association, which later became PRCA. He was a PRCA gold card holder.

He worked on many ranches, such as the Ladder's in New Mexico, OO in Arizona, ZX in Oregon and Babbitt's in Arizona. His hobbies were training horses and working cattle. His real love was the rodeo, and he was proudest of coming within 800 points of winning the RCA World Championship in steer wrestling, and the many good cowboys he met in his life.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife of 27 years, Aimee.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., with Rink Goswick officiating.

The family suggests contributions to Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, 101 Pro Rodeo Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80919.

George O'Barts

George Robert O'Barts, 66, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997, in Ash Fork.

He was born June 7, 1931, in Walnut Ridge, Ark., to William and Mary (Hutsell) O'Barts.

He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church and of the Elks Lodge in Roswell, N.M.

Mr. O'Barts moved to Arizona about 28 years ago. He lived in Chino Valley and was in the lumber business in the Ash Fork and Chino Valley areas.

Survivors include his sons, Dennis of Prescott and George Jr. Of Phoenix; daughters, Jenifer Hamill of Prescott Valley and Tammy O'Barts of Prescott; brother, William Henry Jr. Of Bradford, Ark.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Memory Chapel Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., with visitation one hour prior to services.

Burial will be at a later date, in Walnut Ridge, Ark.

Lois Siegfried

Lois E. Siegfried, 91, of Prescott, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 1997, at a local nursing home.

She was born May 23, 1906, in Gettysburg, S.D., to Lewis and Eltha Clare (Manfull) Fuller. She moved to Prescott in 1994 from her native Nebraska.

Survivors include her son, Dale of Wickenburg; sister, Geneva Speckhart of Sioux City, Iowa; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services and interment will be in North Platte, Neb.

Leonard S. Sullivan

Leonard S. "Len" Sullivan, 89, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at a Prescott nursing care center.

He was born Jan. 22, 1908, in Camp Verde, Territory of Arizona, to James Walter and Mary (Bruce) Sullivan. He and his wife, Dorothy, moved to Prescott from Camp Verde in 1921.

Mr. Sullivan worked at the Yavapai County road department for 40 years, retiring as a foreman in 1972.

During World War II, Mr. Sullivan served as a machinist mate 1st class in the U.S. Navy Seabees.

An active member of Aztlan Lodge #1 F & AM, he served as a Master in 1969 and Masonic Coach for many years.

In addition, Mr. Sullivan was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Golden Rule Chapter #1, where he was a Past Worthy Patron.

Mr. Sullivan, a member of the National Rifle Association, was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Prescott; daughters, Dorothy Drew of Buckeye, and Dorothy Stuart of Prescott; sons, George Sullivan of Jacksonville, Fla., and Joe Matli of Prescott; brothers, Jack of Arizona and Joe of Oregon; sisters, Sarah Converse of Texas, and Lottie Davee of Arizona; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Sullivan's life will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 350 S. Cortez, with Pastor Bob Myers officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Concluding services will be at IOOF Cemetery, 500 S. Virginia, with officers and members of Aztlan Lodge No. 1, Free and Accepted Masons, presiding.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to YRMC Hospice, Restricted Fund, 3262 N. Windsong Dr., Prescott Valley, AZ 86314.

William Eckert

William "Bill" Eckert, 82, died Friday, Nov. 21, 1997, at his home in Prescott.

He was born July 18, 1915, in Baltimore, Md., to Bernard and Rose Eckert. He also married a Rose, and they moved to Prescott from Eugene, Ore., in 1984.

Mr. Eckert was a retired engineer in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Rose; daughters, Jean Anderson of Portland and Sharon Honstein of Phoenix; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, James.

Private services will be held.
