Mary Louise Boyd Cressman
Mary Louise Boyd Cressman - June 7, 2010. Mary passed away unexpectedly at age 77.
Survived by her husband, Paul J. Cressman; 5 children: Martin, Paul P., David, Brooks, and Eve Brown; and by 10 grandchildren.
Mary had a BA in Fine Arts from Indiana University. She was an avid artist and homemaker. She loved animals (especially her dogs), nature, Native American archeology, and cross-country driving and camping. She was widely read and knowledgeable in many subjects. She passed on to her children an appreciation for and experiences in: ceramics, literature, hiking, skiing, and gardening. She was a resident of Sun City since 1988.

Sanford Sandy Goldstein
Sanford "Sandy" Goldstein passed away on October 28, 2010. Sandy was born in Kane Pennsylvania and lived in Rochester, NY.
He started as a school psychologist with BOCES in Monroe County, NY and then worked for the Penfield Central School District retiring as the Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services. Sandy held Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology and a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Rochester. After moving to Arizona he was active in the Sun City West Community - serving on PORA, the Maricopa County Planning & Zoning Commission, the Sun City West Foundation, the Peoria Educational Enrichment Foundation, the Sun City Historical Society, the West Valley Art Museum, the Sundome Performing Arts Association, the College of Extended Education at Arizona State University and several Sun Health committees.
Sandy is survived by his wife, Muriel of Sun City West; his two sons: Stephen of Minneapolis, MN and Jeffrey of Round Rock, TX; his daughter-in-law, Leigh; granddaughter, Sarah of Round Rock TX; and his grandson, Peter of Minneapolis, MN.
Memorial Services will be conducted 9:30 A.M., Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Sunland Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ.

Carole J. Burgoyne
Carole J. Burgoyne, Born March 2, 1932 passed away October 19 in Sun City West after battling a long illness of cancer complicated by C.O.P.D.
She leaves behind her three sons, David ( wife Heather), Michael and Bradley (wife Norine) along with her grandchildren, David, Jordan, Samantha and Nicholas who will miss her very much.
Carole served as President of The Washington State Club of Sun City West in 2005 and assisted tirelessly at many functions of the club.
Carole was a funny, feisty, outspoken woman with a big heart. She many friends like Jean Abbott, Julie Putnam and Anna Dominquez who stood by her until the end.
Carole has gone home to be with the Lord and her daughter Leslie, who preceded her in death. She will be missed by her family and the many friends she had. At Carole's request there will not be a service.

Marion Hobart
Marion Hobart, 81, of Sun City West, Arizona, passed away on October 28, 2010. Marion was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on March 23, 1929 to Andrew and Mary Fina.
Marion graduated in 1948 from Solomon Juneau High School. Marion spent her youth in Wisconsin and later moved to Colorado with her husband and children and retired in Arizona.
Marion is a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Marion is survived by her husband of 60 years, Eugene Hobart; her children: David Hobart Sr., Mary Santy and Mike Hobart; her grandchildren: David Jr., Trisha, Rick, April and Christopher; and great-grandchildren, Kayla, Jake and Johnny. Marion enjoyed the outdoors while spending time with her husband on hunting and camping trips. She also enjoyed bowling and spending time with friends and family. Marion was a member of the Sun City West RV Club, the Lutheran Bowling League and the Wisconsin Club.
Services will be held at the Crown of Life Lutheran Church on November 3, 2010 at 1:00 P.M.

Alphonse J. "Al" Homicz
Alphonse J. Homicz died a peaceful death with his family at his bedside at Banner Boswell Hospital on October 31, 2010. "Al" was born on July 22, 1922 in Southbridge, Massachusetts, son of Pauline and Joseph Homicz.
He graduated from Mary E. Well High School and The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts with continued studies at Boston University. He was in the finance and banking business and a Vice President of Key Bank. He lived in several New England states, finally Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and retired to Sun City, Arizona in 1989. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War 2, including the Battle of Okinawa. He was an active parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, and enjoyed his work with the St. Vincent de Paul Society for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Homicz; a son, Dr. AJ Homicz (Cathy) of New Castle, N.H.; a daughter, Christine in Sun City; three grandchildren: Julie Struble (Lawton) of Rye, N.H., Adam Homicz, Esq (Jennifer) of Charlestown, Massachusetts and Dr. Lucas Homicz (Kristen) of Portsmouth, N.H.; and five great grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Seton Church on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 11:00 A.M.

Verne A. Hook
Verne A. Hook, May 5, 1921 - October 27, 2010. Verne, age 89 of Sun City, AZ passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010. His service will be held Saturday, October 30 at 1:00 P.M. at Best Funeral Home 9380 W. Peoria Ave., Peoria, AZ.
Verne graduated from Fargo High School, Fargo North Dakota. He entered the military and served 4.5 years overseas in the army. He owned and operated Hook Hardware in Wausau, WI.
He is survived by his wife Helen, son Rich (Sandy) Hook, Colorado, daughters Judy Kilpatrick (Jim Neuzil), Iowa, Nancy (Joe) Toth, Wisconsin, one sister Frances, Texas. He is also by seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The Family wants to thank all who have sent cards, flowers, prayers and condolences in our time of grief ~ it is a comfort to know so many care.
The Family also wants to thank you in advance for attending the Service of Verne A. Hook. (A Great Man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him).

Harry C. Hooven Sr.
Harry C. Hooven Sr., 79 of Surprise, passed away with his wife at his side on October 22, 2010. He was born in Ridgeway, PA on May 20, 1931 to Cloyd and Helen Hooven.
Harry served his country honorably in the United States Navy, being listed on the United States Navy Memorial in Washington DC, LCDR Harry C. Hooven Sr, USN, Ret. Receiving his Master's Degree from Purdue University, in Electrical Engineering, Harry was named in the Hall of Fame. Before his retirement from Revlon in 1989, Harry worked for Miller Brewing Co, Sara Lee, Sun Maid and American Motors. He will be dearly missed and forever loved by those who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Carol A. Hooven; his loving children Anna Jo Hooven, Tracy L. Johnson, Harry C. Jr., Clifford S., Wayne M., and Marshall L. Hooven, Lisa R. Haynes, Penny D. Burley and Michael D. Ferneau; 1 sister Linda Cristini; 18 dear grandchildren and 7 dear great-grandchildren. Harry is preceded in death by 2 sons Darryl R. and Curtis L. Hooven, a granddaughter Lindsay A. Ferneau; his sister Arlene Love and both parents.
Memorial Services were conducted at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Sunland Mortuary, Lakeside Chapel, 15826 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Will Foundation.

Thomas A. Joseph
Thomas A. Joseph, formerly of Livingston, MT, passed away suddenly in Sun City, AZ on October 14, 2010. A memorial service was held to celebrate his life.
Tom was born in Livingston October 26, 1921 to Loren and Mabel Joseph. He spent most of his early years in Livingston, graduating from Park High School. He entered the Army Air Corp in 1941 and served as radio operator. He was with the first unit to fly over the "hump" between Burma into China and radioed news of the first attack on Japan.
After retiring from the Montana Highway Patrol in 1978 he became a real estate broker/owner of United Agencies in Livingston before retiring and moved to Sun City, AZ in January 1990.
He was active in many service organizations, church groups and volunteered for the Sun City Posse for fourteen years. Tom loved to travel and had a wonderful ability to meet and enjoy people.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his daughter, Donna Wendte (David), Dianne Thomas, Denise (Mike); two step-daughters: Cheryl Dennis (Dennis), Peggy Heinrich; and one step-son, Randy Heinrich (Sheila). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Marilyn J. Lemmon Alcantara-Peckham
Marilyn J. Lemmon Alcantara-Peckham, 72, of Sun City West, AZ, passed away September 13, 2012. She was born Jan. 10, 1940 in Cheswick, PA to RJ Earl Lemmon & Alice V. Lemmon.
She was a graduate of West Deer H.S. class of 1957, Presbyterian University Hospital RN in 1960, St. Francis Medical Center School of Anesthesia CRNA 1973 and University of California, California PA 1976 with BS in Education.
Marilyn worked at various hospitals including St. Francis and University of Pittsburgh (Montefiore), before moving to Arizona in 1994, where she worked at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Brackenridge, PA and Palm West Community Church of Sun City West, where she ran the Solos group and was on the Pastoral Assistance and Ministry team for several years. She also had memberships with AANA, PANA Pres., PUHNAA, CalUAA, Order of Eastern Star #98, Sun City West Nurses Club, Appalachian Wagon Trail, Sun City West RV Club, FMCA, Good Sam RV Club, Sun City West Water Fitness, Sun City West Flower Club, PORA and many others.
She enjoyed RVing, cruising and worldwide traveling, reading, genealogy, but most of all she just loved Arizona although still a devoted Steelers fan.
Preceding her in death are her husband Joseph Alcantara, her parents and brother, James D. Lewis. Survivors include her loving husband, Elbert H. Peckham; son Craig D. Lombardi of Tarentum, PA; daughter Candice D. DeRose (Joseph) of Sun City West and dearest friend Suzann Simons of New Kensington, PA. Grandchildren, Marilyn Nicole Bain (Todd) of Grove City, PA, C. David Lombardi of Tarentum, PA, Justin DeRose and Jade DeRose of Brackenridge, PA; 6 great grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and Tikki Dog also survive.
Visitation will be 5-7 P.M., Monday, Sept. 17, 2012 at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 at Palm West Community Church, 13845 W. Stardust Blvd., Sun City West, AZ. Graveside service will be on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ.
