Joanne Berry, 76, of Sun City, AZ passed away March 7, 2010. She was a retired Federal Government administrator. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Lee (David); brothers Ronnie and Donnie Sears; sister Sharon; grandchildren A.J. Dillard, Matt Griffith & Ryan & Ellie Wright; great grandchild Brandon Griffith. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Menke Funeral Home Chapel, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ.

Overton, Owen F., Jr.
Entered his Lord’s loving presence on his 78th birthday, March 6, 2010 after a long struggle with a rare form of cancer. Owen was born in Mountain Pine, AR in 1932. After graduating from Hot Springs High School, he served in the U. S. Army at the time of the Korean conflict. He graduated from Little Rock University and from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, TX. Owen was an electrical journeyman lineman for Arkansas Power & Light and Arizona Public Service as well as Safety-consultant. He then was the Safety Supervisor for the Central Arizona Division of Southwest Gas. After retiring from SWG, he was a Consultant for Northern Pipeline. Owen was also a commercial pilot and a flight instructor. But his favorite life work was as a well-loved, bi-vocational pastor of small churches: Murphy Baptist Church, Plano, TX; 1st Baptist Church, Indian Springs, NV; White Tanks Baptist Church; West Glendale Baptist Church; and 107th Ave. Baptist Church, all here in the Valley.
Owen is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Shirli, and four children: Joni Huff, Robert (Nancy); Tammy Schaapman (Garret), and James, as well as grandchildren Rob and Ron Huff; Aaron and Lauren Overton; Dan Camara; Katherine and Nathan Schaapman; and Aliesha Dream Overton. His sister, Reba Bates of Memphis, TN, also survives him as well as many nieces and nephews.
Our family will be forever grateful for the loving care of Hospice of the Valley, Team T, and the entire organization for all their excellent care and compassion.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Sun City, 11019 West Peoria Ave., Sun City, AZ on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Owen asked that contributions be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.

Gabriel Michael Lupo, 65, of Peoria, AZ passed away March 7, 2010. Mr. Lupo was born in Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Lupo worked in sales and has resided in Arizona for 8 years. He is survived by his wife Eileen; children Michael (Cathy) Lupo and Denise Lupo; sister Joan Bennedetto and a grandson Anthony Lupo. Browning, Adele Ellen (Beckett)
85, of Sun City passed away on March 8, 2010 at Hospice of The Valley. She was born in McGregor, Iowa where she was raised nearby on the family farm. She was proud to be the 1941 valedictorian of Garnavillo High School. After retiring from a life of various manufacturing positions, she moved from Lake Geneva, WI to Sun City in 1993 where she involved herself as a Deacon and Social Worker at the First Presbyterian Church of Sun City. Adele was devoted to her family and friends. She is survived by 6 children: Suzanne Davis of Sun City; Teryl Zubow of Phoenix; Michael Zubow of Sun City; Karen Romans of Camp Verde; Randal Zubow of Lake Geneva, WI; Yvonne Lee of Phoenix and step-daughter Bonnie Bowen of Kingman, AZ. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren all of whom she loved dearly. Adele is also survived by her sister Lyla LeHew of Rockford, Ill. Margarete J. Hester
Margarete J. Hester, 85, of Sun City, AZ, passed away March 6, 2010, in Sun City, AZ. She was born in Berlin, Germany and came to the United States of America in 1951. She attended The University of Leipzig and Nuernberg in Germany and the University of Louisville, Kentucky. She held a degree in business administration. Ms. Hester worked until her retirement as a financial administrator and general manager in the automotive specialty manufacturing business. Ms. Hester was life professed in the Third Order of St. Dominic. She is survived by her beloved poodle “Princie”. Visitation will be held from 4:00-5:00 PM with Rosary at 5:00 PM, Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Menke Funeral Home. 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Frances Elizabeth Manning
Frances Elizabeth (Halsey) Manning was born in Viola, Kansas and moved to Wichita with parents, Andrew and Verna Halsey and brothers Bill and Paul. After graduating from North High School she worked for Santa Fe Trail Transportation Co. where she met and married LeRoy Dumler. During WWII she worked for Boeing Aircraft Co. and served in the Civil Air Patrol. She married Ted Chapman in 1972 and helped him operate Northern Supply Co. Fran was active in Stonecroft Ministries Christian Woman’s Club (CWC) and bible study meetings. She moved to AZ in 1980 and was chairman of Sun City CWC and then later Sun City West CWC and Northwest Phoenix CWC. She was a frequent speaker at CWC luncheons across the U.S. In 1982, she married Don Manning of Sun City. She was preceded in death by son Lt. Douglas Dumler (USAF), LeRoy Dumler, Ted Chapman, Don Manning, and brother Bill Halsey. Surviving her are: brother Paul Halsey (Marilyn), Topeka, KS; twin sons Don Dumler (Marsha), Jacksonville, FL and Jon MacDonagh-Dumler (Etta), Ann Arbor, MI and Co. Sligo, Ireland; step daughter Carole Chapman Bechtel, Colorado Springs, CO and step son Doug Manning (Luana), Phoenix; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorials are encouraged to Stonecroft Ministries, Kansas City, MO.

Karl M. Fuelts, 75. of Peoria passed away March 5, 2010. He was born in Budaörs, Hungary. He moved to Arizona in 1998 from Illinois and was a Baker. He is survived by his wife Marga; sons John (Sandy) Fuelts and Steven (Bovan) Fuelts; 3 brothers and 4 grandchildren also survive. Charles Jordan Rogers
Charles J. Rogers “Chuck” 72, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on his birthday March 3, 2010 surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was 3rd generation Arizonan, born at Eva Harris Maternity behind where Good Samaritan stands today. He graduated from Phoenix Union High School. He was a dedicated Phoenix Police Officer, retired after 32 years of service as a Sergeant. He was the grandson of Lewis Franklin Stewart, the first motorcycle officer of Phoenix. He also loved to fly and was a Captain in the 302nd Squadron Civil Air Patrol out of Deer Valley Airport. He loved to work on cars; he recently restored a 1966 Corvair and was in the process of restoring a 1928 Model A Ford. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn and daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Alex, daughter Deborah and son-in-law Vince. He had 5 grandchildren, Nicholas, Derek, Tylor, Elizabeth, and Bayleigh. He is also survived by his sister, Lillian Eddy. Memorial services will be held at Menke Funeral Home March 13, 2010 at 11:00 am in Sun City, Arizona. He asked in lieu of flowers that donations be made in his name to Squadron 302 Civil Air Patrol, 932 W. Deer Valley Rd. Phoenix, Arizona 85027.

Andrew Christopher Clear passed away at the age of 32 on Saturday, March 6, 2010 in Peoria, AZ. He leaves behind his wife Jessica, parents Dawn Clear and Tom Parry.; brother Michael Murphy; sisters Michelle Humphrys, Faith (David) Brinkman, Toni Bennish, and Angela Clear; mother & father in law April & Butch Stapley and many nieces and nephews. He was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was full of life, he loved and was very much loved. He will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Apostles Lutheran Church, 7020 W. Cactus Rd., Peoria, AZ. Interment to follow at Glendale Memorial Park.

Regina Grace Thomas, 39, of Grove City, PA and Glendale, AZ, passed away March 3, 2010. Regina leaves behind her father Lon, mother Barb, and two brothers. She loved the time spent with her Tungland Group Home and School family. Regina touched many lives, and she will be missed dearly by her family and all that knew her.

Harriett Rose “Gigi” Simpkin, 89, of Sun City passed away Jan. 26, 2010. She was born in Hannibal, MO to Harry & Clara Culler. A resident of Sun City for over 30 years, Mrs. Simpkin was the co-founder of the C. Tom Simpkin Air Conditional & Heating Co. of Sun City. A lifelong member of the Methodist Church, she was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church of Sun City. She is preceded in death by her husband C. Tom Simpkin in 2008 and a brother John L. Culler. Survivors include son Arthur Simpkin (Rose); grandchildren John Fitzpatrick (Stacy), Andrea Melanson (Michael), Erika Hawkins (Alex), Jason Fitzpatrick and James Fitzpatrick (Corey); great grandchildren Dylan & Sidney Melanson, Brook Sylvain, Camron & Damon Hawkins, Lennon Fitzpatrick, Katrina Schabel and Devin Fitzpatrick. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Lakeview United Methodist Church, 10298 W. Thunderbird Blvd., Sun City, AZ.
Dorothy June Key
Dorothy June Key, 93, of Sun City, AZ, passed away Monday, February 1, 2010. She was born June 13, 1916, in Decatur, IL, to parents, Walter and Fay Quick. She grew up on a dairy farm there, the second oldest of eight children. June worked as a comptometer operator and bookkeeper. She retired from Safeway in 1978, and was a member of the Teamsters Union. She and husband, James, moved to Sun City from California in 1988. She had been a member of Fairway Lapidary Club and Fairway Silvercraft Club. She also enjoyed Line Dancing. June loved playing the violin and as a young woman, traveled with an all girl orchestra. June is survived and will be dearly missed by daughter, Maria Meure, and son-in-law, Bob, of Sun City, AZ, daughter-in-law, Nannie McCoy of Windsor, South Carolina, sister, Mary Jane Corey, of Decatur, IL, brother, Kenneth Quick, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, grandchildren: Ronald Denton, Jr., Randall, Gwen, Christina, Rene, Deborah, and James, 25 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, son, Ronald McCoy, sisters, Evelyn Biddle and Betty Cox, brothers, Lynn Quick, Walter Quick, and Richard Quick, two granddaughters, and one great-grandson. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, Monday, February 8, with funeral services following at 1:00 pm, at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, with burial to follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery.
