Robert L. Cole, Sr.
Robert L. Cole, Sr., 64, of Tolleson, Arizona passed away June 4, 2010. Robert was born in Chicago, Illinois. He was a record company sales representative and moved to Arizona in 1992 from Illinois. Visitation and family calling hours will be 2-4 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Menke Funeral Home. Mr. Coleman will be interred at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois.

Robert E. Addington
Robert E. Addington, 90, of Sun City, Arizona, formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2010.
He was born September 18, 1919, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Raymond and Nell (Thompson) Addington. He married Marie E. Butschy on February 13, 1943, a marriage that lasted for 64 years.
He retired in 1980 as a Division Engineer from John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa, after 42 years of service.
A Sun City resident since 1996, Robert was a life-long golfer, having belonged to Beaver Hills Country Club in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and numerous courses in Sun City. He had a great love for crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, two brothers and two sisters. His survivors include his daughter, Kathleen Brackett (Peter), of Indialantic, FL., his sons John (Edyie) of Findley, OH., and Michael (DeDe) of Bettendorf, IA., six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Robert “Bobby” Comitz, Sr.
Robert “Bobby” Comitz, Sr. passed away May 27, 2010 and is now with God in Heaven. He leaves behind, a loving wife Bonnie J. Comitz; 7 children; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind 4 siblings, Frank, John, Jeanette and Carol. He will be missed dearly but will always & forever, be in our hearts. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to service on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Menke Funeral Home Chapel, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Interment to follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.

Norman Arthur Dixon
Norm Dixon, age 78, of Peoria, AZ was called home to the Lord on June 25, 2010. Born in Muskegon, MI, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War, where he received a battle wound. Awarded a Purple Heart, he was discharged and returned home. He enjoyed a long career as an engineer in the aerospace industry. He served as Secretary-Treasurer of the 24th Infantry Division Association. He was active in his church, and enjoyed a number of hobbies. His love of the desert southwest was a passion. His family, however, always remained his highest priority.
He is survived by his wife Dolores “Dodie” Dixon of Peoria, daughters Peggy VandeVoorde (of Milan, MI), Pamela Miller (of Munday, TX), Penny Schmiege (of Avondale, AZ), Patience Hoag (of Phoenix), and son John Dixon, also of Phoenix; as well as fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave. in Sun City, AZ on Monday, June 28, 2010 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will also be conducted at Menke Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 11:00 am, followed by a graveside service with full military honors at National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ. The family suggests that any memorials be sent to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #2135 (623)937-6196 in Norman Dixon’s memory.

Matthew L. Leshinski
Matthew L. Leshinski, 81, of Sun City, AZ passed away July 4, 2010. Mr. Leshinski was born in Kingston, PA and served his country in the US Marine Corps during WW II and Korea. He retired to Sun City in 1990 from Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife Margaret Mary of Sun City and nephew Paul Leshinski of Larksville, PA. Visitation 5-7 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Funeral Service 9:00 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, 15630 N. Del Webb Blvd. Sun City, AZ. Private interment to be in Kingston, Pennsylvania.

Mary Josephine Hayman
Mary Josephine Hayman, 100, of Phoenix, AZ passed away June 18, 2010 in Peoria, AZ. Private family services are to be held.

Mary Jane Flanigan Dakis
Mary Jane Flanigan Dakis, age 71 of Sun City, Arizona. Died May 3, 2010. Beloved wife of Bobby Dakis and the late James Flanigan, Sr.; Daughter of the late Harold and Elizabeth Beaver; Loving mother to James (Laura) Flanigan, the late William Flanigan; Kathleen (Paul) McKee; Nancy (John) Posey; Maureen (Tim) Nead; loving grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; dear sister of the late Charles, George, John, and William; dear sister-in-law; cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews; friend to many at Universal Technical Institute and faithful member of Loyal Order of the Moose, especially active in the Women of the Moose. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ 85351. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to contribute to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.

Mark Alonzo Van-Y
Mark Alonzo Van-Y, 57, of Peoria, AZ passed away June 25, 2010. Mark was born in Midland, Michigan and served 8 years in the US Navy. He moved to Arizona and was employed as a nuclear power plant electrician with APS since 1984. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Anne; children Mark A. Van-Y II (Karina), Aric Van-Y (Cathy), and Athena M. Van-Y (Don); brothers Lawrence, Lyle (Melanie), and Joseph; sisters Pamela Long (Gary) and Carole Pageau (Paul) and grandchildren Jewel & Riley Van-Y. Mark was preceded in death by his parents Alonzo & Doris and his brother Gregory Van-Y. Private family arrangements were made with Menke Funeral Home.

Louise P. Barry
The matriarch of the Barry Family, Edna Louise Pigg Barry, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2010. Louise was the widow of Jess Edward Barry to whom she was married for 56 years. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Emily Barry of Peoria, AZ; son, Thomas Edward Barry of Surprise, AZ; brother, George Mack Pigg of Charlotte, NC; sister, Betty Pigg Hupp of Oak Island, NC, and grandchildren: Jess Edward Barry-Oliver, Lt. David Michael Barry, and Laura Elizabeth Barry. She was born April 9, 1926 in Union County, NC to Vernon McRoy and Edna Olive Moss Pigg. A private memorial service will be held by the family in Knoxville, Tennessee at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Loren C. Dixon, Jr.
Loren C. Dixon, Jr., 82, of Sun City passed away July 11, 2010. Loren was born in Mt. Carmel, IL. He served in the US Navy retiring as Master Chief. He was a resident of Sun City for 24 years from Indiana. Survivors include his wife Nancy of Sun City; children
Dan Dixon, Dennis Dixon, Donald Dixon, Debra Farley and Marcy Caldwell. 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to service on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Menke Funeral Home Chapel, 12420 N. 103rd Ave., Sun City, AZ. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ.

LOIS MARIE BARTLEY
Prayers, Blessings, and Greetings to all.
It is with both sorrow and great joy that we wish to let you know that the Lord has called his beloved child, Lois Marie Bartley to spend the rest of eternity in the loving care of his arms.
Lois passed comfortably in her sleep in the early hours of Monday, June 7th, 2010. Her family was able to bring her home from the hospital on Saturday evening and enjoyed her love and quick wit all day Sunday.
Funeral arrangements were handled June 10, 2010 by Menke Funeral Home. 12420 N. 103rd Ave. Sun City, Arizona 85351. Phone (623) 979-6451.
The Reverend Greg Clemmons directed the service.
Lois is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bruce Jay Bartley, three sons; E. Jay, Michael Raymond, and Scott Arnold. Three daughter-in-laws; Pauletta, Kelly and Beth and a sister Marjorie, 4 Grandchildren & 4 Great Grandchildren.
Your thoughts and prayers are welcome and all that is necessary as we celebrate the crown of life that our great and gracious God has given to Lois.
She will be greatly missed until we can join with her again in His Kingdom.

Kenneth Jay Cyphers
Kenneth J. Cyphers, 64, of Peoria passed away July 5, 2010. Mr. Cyphers was born in Niagara Falls, NY. He was a Vietnam veteran, a member of the American Legion Post #62 and worked for Baptist Village in Peoria for 5 years. Survivors include his wife Peggy; sons Randy and Kenny; brother Matthew; sisters Bonnie Bouch, Linda Pai, Becky Clark, Robin Cyphers and Betsie Cyphers. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010 at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave. in Sun City. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the American Legion Post #62, 9847 W. Desert Cove Ave., Peoria, AZ.
