Martha Eugenia (Gregg) Myers
Martha Eugenia (Gregg) Myers, age 94, of Perrysburg, Ohio, and a former resident of Green Valley, Ariz and Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away peacefully in the Manor of Perrysburg, Tuesday, October 25, 2005.
Born in Upper Sandusky, Ohio on July 3, 1911 to Alton Eugene and Martha (Norton) Gregg.
She attended Upper Sandusky Schools and graduated with the class of 1929.
She then attended Ohio Wesleyan University and was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in June 1933, Martha began teaching English at Upper Sandusky High School until she married Wayne H. Myers on June 25, 1936, in John Stewart United Methodist Church.
Martha and Wayne were married for 62 years until his passing in January of 1998.
They moved to Green Valley in 1971 and she remained there until April, 2002.
While living in Upper, Martha was very active in numerous community organizations.
She was member of the John Stewart United Methodist Church where she was past president of W.S.C.S.
She was member of Warpole Chapter O.E.S. #366, Alpha Chapter Usando Literary Club, past president of Wyandot Area, Marion area & Heritage Trails Girl Scout Councils.
She continued an active life in Arizona playing bridge, attending Sigma Kappa Alumnae Club meetings, helping Wayne with his sand paintings and cheering for beloved Arizona Wildcat basketball team.
Active as she was in various activities, she was first and foremost a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She loved her family and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Surviving is her daughter Barbara K. Emerson (Edwin) of Perrysburg, Ohio.
She was the beloved "Nana" to Steven Gregg McClain (Kim) of Toronto, Canada; Michael Edward McClain (Lee) of Pittsburg, Pa.; Sara Emerson Niles of Westerville, Ohio, and Andrew Cooper Emerson (Erin) of Columbus. She was also "Great Nana" to Kevin Gregg McClain, Bethany Mae McClain, Grace Fei McClain, Martha Edison Niles, Ella Gibson Niles and Cooper Bryant Emerson.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband Wayne Harvey Myers; and her daughter Marcia Sue McClain.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Manor of Perrysburg for their warm and loving care.
We appreciate their compassion and support more deeply than words can ever express.
Funeral Services will he held at 11:00 a.m. Sat. Oct. 29, 2005 in the Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Geissinger officiating.
Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. to time of services on Sat. at the funeral home.

CHARLES R. MARSH
CHARLES R. MARSH passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, after a two-month battle with various illnesses.
Mr. Marsh was born Dec. 9, 1934, in Kelso, Wash.
After graduating from R. A. Long High School in Longview, Wash., he attended Lower Columbia College in 1953, where he was a key member of their championship basketball team. 1954 through 1957 he attended Oregon State University where he was a fullback for the OSU football team and played in the 1957 Rose Bowl against the University of Iowa.
He played for Sitka’s Alaska Native Brotherhood semi-pro basketball team 1959 - 1965.
He used his OSU B.S. in Business to work for Weyerhaeuser in Longview, Alaska Lumber and Pulp Co. in Sitka, Alaska, and spent about 20 years in the bank industry in Washington state.
He served as a member of the Port Townsend, Wash. Planning Commission.
After leaving Washington Mutual in 1989, he sold real estate and continued to be an active Rotarian and Elks member.
Mr. Marsh was an avid golfer who hit a 154-yard hole-in-one at the Port Townsend Golf Club in 2000 on hole 16.
He also enjoyed fishing, outdoors, playing with his grandchildren and watching whales in Hawaii.
He retired to Arizona in 2002 with his wife of 45 years, Connie.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, one son and 10 grandchildren.

PAUL H. SPEAR
PAUL H. SPEAR, 97, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Born in Mason City, Ill., he was the first son of Roy and Nona Spear.
In 1916, the family moved to a farm in Yoder, Ind.
He graduated from South Side High School in 1930 and married Bernice Morton in 1937.
He worked in the finance industry until he was drafted into the U.S. Navy in 1943.
He served in WWII as a member of the Com Air Admirals Bank in Norfolk, Va. and Bermuda.
After returning to Fort Wayne, he joined Anthony Wayne Bank and retired as Vice President of the Mortgage Loan Department in 1969.
He obtained his Realtor’s license and sold real estate until 1980.
He was a Past Master of the Ossian Masonic Lodge #297 F&AM; and active in Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne, York Rite, and Mizpah Shrine.
His avocation was music and he played the trombone from 1930 to 2008 in many local orchestras and bands.
He was a member of the Mizpah Shrine Band and the New Horizons Community Band and continued to participate in both until 2008.
He was a member of Musicians Union Local 58 for 75 years and served as trustee for many years.
He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church for 68 years.
He was an active member in the South Side Optimist Club for 48 years.
He spent 30 winters in Arizona and was active in the Sabbar Shrine Band, the Green Valley Community Band and the German Band as well as the Green Valley Amateur Radio Club.
He is survived by his daughter Martha (Marti) Philips (Paul); granddaughter Dr. Jennifer Bott (John); step-grandson Stephen Philips (Emily); great-grandson Aidan Bott; brother Dr. Jean Spear (Ruth) and several generations of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Ruth; Bernice, his wife of 58 years; Emma Snyder, his second wife.
Services were held Feb. 5, 2009, at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave. Fort Wayne, Ind.
Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Ossian, Ind.

KONRAD HOWARD STOKES
KONRAD HOWARD STOKES passed away in Green Valley on Jan. 29, 2009, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Waitsfield, Vt., the son of Gerald Oakley Stokes, who was a town Selectman, Constable and tax collector.
His mother, Laura B. Stokes, was town librarian and Postmaster for 25 years.
Konrad attended public school in Waitsfield and graduated in 1941 and went on to attend the University of Vermont.
A member of ROTC, he went into the reserves following Pearl Harbor and was called to active duty a year later.
He served in both the European and Pacific theatres as a member of the U.S. Army’s Signal Corps.
Upon returning to the U.S., Konrad married Lois Batchelder Brown on Sept. 18, 1946.
He completed his bachelor’s degree in physics at the University of Vermont in 1947, and went on to earn a Master’s degree at Syracuse University.
Professionally he became a leader in the application of electronics, first to control systems and eventually to the computer control of complex industrial processes.
He worked for Honeywell, Fenwall, and IBM.
Konrad’s employment took him and his family from the Philadelphia area to Barrington, R.I., to Los Gatos, Calif. and provided them with the wonderful opportunity of living two years in Boeblingen, Germany.
The last years of his career were spent in the new field of clean room technology.
He helped lead the development of this technology at IBM, and after his retirement became the Director of the NSF Center for Micro-contamination Control at the University of Arizona.
This position brought Konrad and Lois to Green Valley in 1985.
After retiring from the University of Arizona, Konrad became active in the Green Valley community as a member of the Green Valley Coordinating Council.
He and Lois moved to the La Posada community in 2002 and made many new, wonderful friends.
Konrad was a member of Valley Presbyterian Church, Rotary Club of Green Valley, the Vermont Club, the Society of Colonial Wars, Mad River Masonic Lodge #77, the Mt. Sinai Shrine Temple of Vermont, and served in many leadership roles in the Institute of Environmental Sciences.
Throughout his life he was known as a good friend, loving father and devoted husband.
In retirement, Konrad and Lois enjoyed visiting, with travel trailer, all of the counties of California, many state parks in the Western states, all of the national parks plus numerous visits to British Columbia.
A favorite destination was Sandpoint, Idaho, and nearby Lake Pend Oreille for golf and fishing.
Konrad Stokes is survived by Lois, his wife of 62 years; daughter Kathryn Scott and her husband Stan of Los Gatos; son Gerald and his wife Amy of Tokyo, Japan and Washington, D.C.; and son Chandler and his wife Karen of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Berkeley, Calif.
Konrad also leaves five grandchildren: Samantha, Garrett, Jeremy, Dustan Stokes and Sasha Scott.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Casa de Esperanza, Valley Presbyterian Church, La Posada’s scholarship fund or a charity of one’s choice.
A Memorial Service will be held Feb. 19 at 2 p.m. in the Madera Room at La Posada. All who knew him are welcome to come and remember with the family.
FRED ROMANELLI
FRED ROMANELLI, a Green Valley resident for seven years, and formerly of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, died on Jan. 20, 2008.
He was a Realtor with Long Realty, a member of Desert Hills Lutheran Church and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.
He was a representative for DeWal Industries in Massachusetts.
He is survived by his wife Laurie; children Eric (Heather) Romanelli of Florida, Keith Romanelli of Rhode Island, Leah Romanelli of California, Kathryn Scheidegger and Kellyn Scheidegger, both of Green Valley; grandchildren Kasey and Daniel; brothers Paul (Irene) Romanelli of Connecticut, Robert (Lupita) Romanelli of Florida, William (Jennifer) Romanelli of North Carolina and Michael (Beverly) Romanelli of Florida.
Also surviving are Laurie's parents Robert and Mardelle Guelzow, who thought of Fred as a son.
A memorial celebration will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at Desert Hills Lutheran Church with Pastor Martin Overson officiating.
NANCY REGANALL MILLER DUNPHY
NANCY REGANALL MILLER DUNPHY, born in Toledo, Ohio, on Nov. 19, 1927, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008.
Her family moved to Michigan during the Depression where she attended school in a one room country school for eight years.
She graduated from Dexter High School and attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. and nursing school in Detroit, Mich.
She married William Dunphy in 1949, and they had three children.
They moved to Defiance, Ohio, where they owned and operated a motel.
She later worked as office manager at Defiance Dental Clinic.
Nancy later moved to Lonbard, Ill., to help with the care of her mother.
While there, she worked as the office manager for the Wheaton Eye Clinic for several years.
In 1992, Nancy retired and moved to Green Valley.
She was a member of St. Francis-in-the-Valley Episcopal Church and a very active member of Elks Lodge 2592.
She served as president of the Singles Club (TGIS), was a volunteer driver for Friends in Deed and was a regular exerciser in the Canoa Hills Fitness Room.
Nancy was a very energetic and creative person.
She had much enthusiasm for life and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by a brother John Miller of Chelsea, Mich.; sister Virginia Lyon of Green Valley; three children: Carole Emigh of Eugene, Ore., Robert Dunphy of Springfield, Ore., and Jim Dunphy of New Bavaria, Ohio; as well as four grandchildren and eight great-granddaughters.
Friends are invited to a Celebration of Nancy’s Life at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at the home of her sister Virginia.

ANGELO DI GIOVANNI
There is Big Band music in heaven tonight because ANGELO DI GIOVANNI passed away peacefully on Feb. 11, 2008, in the company of his family.
He was born in South Philadelphia on Sept. 1, 1927, both of his parents having immigrated to the United States from Italy.
He was an accomplished trumpet player and in his younger years played professionally with many Big Bands. He played in the bands of Maynard Furgeson and Stan Kenton and jammed with many notables including Billie Holiday and Gene Kruppa.
He was always fiercely patriotic and gladly served his country.
He was too young to join the Army during World War II so he served in the U.S. Maritime Services, later joining the Army Air Corps.
He was called back into service in the Army during the Korean War.
While stationed in California he met his first wife Josephine. Angelo settled in Pittsburg, Calif. after the Korean War and started his career there with Bank of America.
He moved quickly up the corporate ladder eventually moving to South Pasadena, and later to Pacific Palisades.
Angelo was always proud of the fact that he had started with B of A as a teller and retired as a Vice President.
After retiring, he moved with his second wife Barbara to Green Valley.
He and Barbara loved the Green Valley lifestyle and quickly joined many community activities.
He was the president of the Arizona state Bank of America Retirees Club.
Angelo served with SAV for over 15 years as both a patrolman and as the assistant director of training.
He was the chapter President of the Air Force Association and later as the Ariz. State President.
He was also a past officer in the Elks Club.
More recently, he and Barbara became involved with the Valley Players working backstage as Property Master.
He and Barbara traveled extensively to Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, Asia and Europe as well as exploring the United States.
One of his greatest joys was visiting the small Italian town of Cori where his mother was born.
Angelo’s joy of life was apparent to whomever met him.
Wherever people gathered Angelo would hold court.
His wonderful storytelling and engaging personality made him a truly memorable character.
He had a huge appetite for life, always eager to learn and experience new adventures.
He had many passions, his love for his hometown of South Philly, his great pride in his Italian heritage, music, baseball, and of course Sinatra.
He leaves behind his wife Barbara; his daughter Cheryl Di Giovanni Kirchner and his son-in-law John Kirchner of Morehead City, N.C.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at the Green Valley Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any donations should be made to the Diabetes Foundation or the Sheriffs Auxiliary Volunteers.
